Jueces 2
1 El ángel del Señor subió de Gilgal a Bochim. Le dijo: “Yo te saqué de Egipto y te traje a la tierra que juré dar a tus padres. Dije: ‘Nunca romperé mi pacto con ustedes.
And the angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim. And he said: '...I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I swore unto your fathers; and I said: I will never break My covenant with you;
2 No harás ningún pacto con los habitantes de esta tierra. Derribarás sus altares’. Pero ustedes no han escuchado mi voz. ¿Por qué has hecho esto?
and ye shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; ye shall break down their altars; but ye have not hearkened unto My voice; what is this ye have done?
3 Por eso también he dicho: ‘No los echaré de delante de ti, sino que estarán en tus costados, y sus dioses te serán una trampa’.”
Wherefore I also said: I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be unto you as snares, and their gods shall be a trap unto you.'
4 Cuando el ángel de Yahvé dijo estas palabras a todos los hijos de Israel, el pueblo alzó la voz y lloró.
And it came to pass, when the angel of the LORD spoke these words unto all the children of Israel, that the people lifted up their voice, and wept.
5 Llamaron el nombre de aquel lugar Bochim, y sacrificaron allí a Yahvé.
And they called the name of that place Bochim; and they sacrificed there unto the LORD.
6 Cuando Josué despidió al pueblo, los hijos de Israel se dirigieron cada uno a su heredad para poseer la tierra.
Now when Joshua had sent the people away, the children of Israel went every man unto his inheritance to possess the land.
7 El pueblo sirvió a Yahvé todos los días de Josué, y todos los días de los ancianos que sobrevivieron a Josué, quienes habían visto toda la gran obra de Yahvé que él había realizado para Israel.
And the people served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great work of the LORD, that He had wrought for Israel.
8 Josué hijo de Nun, siervo de Yahvé, murió, siendo de ciento diez años.
And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died, being a hundred and ten years old.
9 Lo enterraron en el límite de su heredad, en Timnat Heres, en la región montañosa de Efraín, al norte de la montaña de Gaas.
And they buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnath-heres, in the hill-country of Ephraim, on the north of the mountain of Gaash.
10 Después de que toda esa generación se reunió con sus padres, se levantó tras ella otra generación que no conoció a Yahvé ni la obra que había hecho por Israel.
And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers; and there arose another generation after them, that knew not the LORD, nor yet the work which He had wrought for Israel.
11 Los hijos de Israel hicieron lo que era malo a los ojos de Yahvé, y sirvieron a los baales.
And the children of Israel did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, and served the Baalim.
12 Abandonaron a Yahvé, el Dios de sus padres, que los sacó de la tierra de Egipto, y siguieron a otros dioses, de los pueblos que los rodeaban, y se inclinaron ante ellos; y provocaron la ira de Yahvé.
And they forsook the LORD, the God of their fathers, who brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the peoples that were round about them, and worshipped them; and they provoked the LORD.
13 Abandonaron a Yahvé y sirvieron a Baal y a Astarot.
And they forsook the LORD, and served Baal and the Ashtaroth.
14 La ira de Yahvé se encendió contra Israel, y los entregó en manos de salteadores que los saquearon. Los vendió en manos de sus enemigos por todas partes, de modo que ya no pudieron resistir ante sus enemigos.
And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and He delivered them into the hands of spoilers that spoiled them, and He gave them over into the hands of their enemies round about, so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies.
15 Dondequiera que salían, la mano de Yahvé estaba contra ellos para mal, como Yahvé había hablado y como Yahvé les había jurado; y estaban muy angustiados.
Whithersoever they went out, the hand of the LORD was against them for evil, as the LORD had spoken, and as the LORD had sworn unto them; and they were sore distressed.
16 El Señor suscitó jueces que los salvaron de la mano de los que los saqueaban.
And the LORD raised up judges, who saved them out of the hand of those that spoiled them.
17 Sin embargo, no escucharon a sus jueces, pues se prostituyeron ante otros dioses y se inclinaron ante ellos. Se apartaron rápidamente del camino por el que anduvieron sus padres, obedeciendo los mandamientos de Yahvé. No lo hicieron.
And yet they hearkened not unto their judges, for they went astray after other gods, and worshipped them; they turned aside quickly out of the way wherein their fathers walked, obeying the commandments of the LORD; they did not so.
18 Cuando Yahvé les suscitó jueces, entonces Yahvé estuvo con el juez y los salvó de la mano de sus enemigos durante todos los días del juez, porque a Yahvé le dolía su gemido a causa de los que los oprimían y los perturbaban.
And when the LORD raised them up judges, then the LORD was with the judge, and saved them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge; for it repented the LORD because of their groaning by reason of them that oppressed them and crushed them.
19 Pero cuando murió el juez, se volvieron atrás y actuaron más corruptamente que sus padres al seguir a otros dioses para servirles e inclinarse ante ellos. No dejaron de hacer lo que hacían, ni abandonaron sus costumbres obstinadas.
But it came to pass, when the judge was dead, that they turned back, and dealt more corruptly than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them, and to worship them; they left nothing undone of their practices, nor of their stubborn way.
20 La ira de Yahvé se encendió contra Israel, y dijo: “Por cuanto esta nación ha transgredido mi pacto que ordené a sus padres, y no ha escuchado mi voz,
And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel; and He said: 'Because this nation have transgressed My covenant which I commanded their fathers, and have not hearkened unto My voice;
21 yo también no volveré a expulsar de delante de ellos a ninguna de las naciones que dejó Josué cuando murió;
I also will not henceforth drive out any from before them of the nations that Joshua left when he died;
22 para que por medio de ellas ponga a prueba a Israel, para ver si guardan el camino de Yahvé para andar por él, como lo guardaron sus padres, o no.”
that by them I may prove Israel, whether they will keep the way of the LORD to walk therein, as their fathers did keep it, or not.'
23 Así que Yahvé dejó a esas naciones, sin expulsarlas precipitadamente. No las entregó en manos de Josué.
So the LORD left those nations, without driving them out hastily; neither delivered He them into the hand of Joshua.
