Juan 5
1 Después de estas cosas, hubo una fiesta de los judíos, y Jesús subió a Jerusalén.
After these things was a festival day of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
2 En Jerusalén, junto a la puerta de las ovejas, hay un estanque llamado en hebreo “Betesda”, que tiene cinco pórticos.
Now there is at Jerusalem a pond, called Probatica, which in Hebrew is named Bethsaida, having five porches.
3 En ellos yacía una gran multitud de enfermos, ciegos, cojos o paralíticos, esperando que se moviera el agua;
In these lay a great multitude of sick, of blind, of lame, of withered; waiting for the moving of the water.
4 porque un ángel bajaba a ciertas horas al estanque y agitaba el agua. El que entraba primero después de agitar el agua quedaba curado de cualquier enfermedad que tuviera.
And an angel of the Lord descended at certain times into the pond; and the water was moved. And he that went down first into the pond after the motion of the water, was made whole, of whatsoever infirmity he lay under.
5 Estaba allí un hombre que llevaba treinta y ocho años enfermo.
And there was a certain man there, that had been eight and thirty years under his infirmity.
6 Cuando Jesús lo vio allí tendido, y supo que llevaba mucho tiempo enfermo, le preguntó: “¿Quieres ser sano?”
Him when Jesus had seen lying, and knew that he had been now a long time, he saith to him: Wilt thou be made whole?
7 El enfermo le respondió: “Señor, no tengo a nadie que me meta en la piscina cuando se agita el agua, pero mientras vengo, otro baja antes que yo.”
The infirm man answered him: Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pond. For whilst I am coming, another goeth down before me.
8 Jesús le dijo: “Levántate, toma tu lecho y anda”.
Jesus saith to him: Arise, take up thy bed, and walk.
9 Al instante, el hombre quedó sano, tomó su estera y caminó. Ese día era sábado.
And immediately the man was made whole: and he took up his bed, and walked. And it was the sabbath that day.
10 Así que los judíos le dijeron al que fue sanado: “Es sábado. No te es lícito llevar el lecho”.
The Jews therefore said to him that was healed: It is the sabbath; it is not lawful for thee to take up thy bed.
11 Él les contestó: “El que me sanó me dijo: “Toma tu lecho y camina””.
He answered them: He that made me whole, he said to me, Take up thy bed, and walk.
12 Entonces le preguntaron: “¿Quién es el hombre que te ha dicho: “Toma tu lecho y anda”?”
They asked him therefore: Who is that man who said to thee, Take up thy bed, and walk?
13 Pero el que había sido sanado no sabía quién era, porque Jesús se había retirado, ya que había una multitud en el lugar.
But he who was healed, knew not who it was; for Jesus went aside from the multitude standing in the place.
14 Después, Jesús lo encontró en el templo y le dijo: “Mira, has sido sanado. No peques más, para que no te ocurra nada peor”.
Afterwards, Jesus findeth him in the temple, and saith to him: Behold thou art made whole: sin no more, lest some worse thing happen to thee.
15 El hombre se fue y contó a los judíos que era Jesús quien lo había curado.
The man went his way, and told the Jews, that it was Jesus who had made him whole.
16 Por eso los judíos perseguían a Jesús y trataban de matarlo, porque hacía estas cosas en sábado.
Therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, because he did these things on the sabbath.
17 Pero Jesús les respondió: “Mi Padre sigue trabajando, así que yo también trabajo”.
But Jesus answered them: My Father worketh until now; and I work.
18 Por eso los judíos procuraban matarlo aún más, porque no sólo quebrantaba el sábado, sino que llamaba a Dios su propio Padre, haciéndose igual a Dios.
Hereupon therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he did not only break the sabbath, but also said God was his Father, making himself equal to God.
19 Entonces Jesús les respondió: “Os aseguro que el Hijo no puede hacer nada por sí mismo, sino lo que ve hacer al Padre. Porque todo lo que él hace, también lo hace el Hijo.
Then Jesus answered, and said to them: Amen, amen, I say unto you, the Son cannot do any thing of himself, but what he seeth the Father doing: for what things soever he doth, these the Son also doth in like manner.
20 Porque el Padre tiene afecto por el Hijo, y le muestra todas las cosas que él mismo hace. Le mostrará obras mayores que éstas, para que os maravilléis.
For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things which himself doth: and greater works than these will he shew him, that you may wonder.
21 Porque como el Padre resucita a los muertos y les da vida, así también el Hijo da vida a quien quiere.
For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and giveth life: so the Son also giveth life to whom he will.
22 Porque el Padre no juzga a nadie, sino que ha dado todo el juicio al Hijo,
For neither doth the Father judge any man, but hath given all judgment to the Son.
23 para que todos honren al Hijo como honran al Padre. El que no honra al Hijo no honra al Padre que lo envió.
That all men may honour the Son, as they honour the Father. He who honoureth not the Son, honoureth not the Father, who hath sent him.
24 “De cierto os digo que el que oye mi palabra y cree al que me ha enviado tiene vida eterna, y no viene a juicio, sino que ha pasado de la muerte a la vida. (aiōnios g166)
Amen, amen I say unto you, that he who heareth my word, and believeth him that sent me, hath life everlasting; and cometh not into judgment, but is passed from death to life. (aiōnios g166)
25 De cierto os digo que viene la hora, y ya es, en que los muertos oirán la voz del Hijo de Dios, y los que la oigan vivirán.
Amen, amen I say unto you, that the hour cometh, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God, and they that hear shall live.
26 Porque como el Padre tiene vida en sí mismo, así también le dio al Hijo que tenga vida en sí mismo.
For as the Father hath life in himself, so he hath given the Son also to have life in himself:
27 También le dio autoridad para ejecutar juicio, porque es el Hijo del hombre.
And he hath given him power to do judgment, because he is the Son of man.
28 No os maravilléis de esto, porque viene la hora en que todos los que están en los sepulcros oirán su voz
Wonder not at this; for the hour cometh, wherein all that are in the graves shall hear the voice of the Son of God.
29 y saldrán; los que han hecho el bien, a la resurrección de la vida; y los que han hecho el mal, a la resurrección del juicio.
And they that have done good things, shall come forth unto the resurrection of life; but they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of judgment.
30 Yo no puedo hacer nada por mí mismo. Según oigo, juzgo; y mi juicio es justo, porque no busco mi propia voluntad, sino la voluntad de mi Padre que me ha enviado.
I cannot of myself do any thing. As I hear, so I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not my own will, but the will of him that sent me.
31 “Si yo testifico de mí mismo, mi testimonio no es válido.
If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.
32 Es otro el que testifica de mí. Sé que el testimonio que da sobre mí es verdadero.
There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true.
33 Vosotros habéis enviado a Juan, y él ha dado testimonio de la verdad.
You sent to John, and he gave testimony to the truth.
34 Pero el testimonio que yo recibo no proviene de hombre. Sin embargo, digo estas cosas para que seáis salvo.
But I receive not testimony from man: but I say these things, that you may be saved.
35 Él era la lámpara que ardía y brillaba, y vosotros quisisteis regocijaros por un tiempo en su luz.
He was a burning and a shining light: and you were willing for a time to rejoice in his light.
36 Pero el testimonio que yo tengo es mayor que el de Juan; porque las obras que el Padre me dio para realizar, las mismas obras que yo hago, dan testimonio de mí, de que el Padre me ha enviado.
But I have a greater testimony than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to perfect; the works themselves, which I do, give testimony of me, that the Father hath sent me.
37 El Padre mismo, que me ha enviado, ha dado testimonio de mí. Vosotros nunca habéis oído su voz, ni habéis visto su forma.
And the Father himself who hath sent me, hath given testimony of me: neither have you heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.
38 No tenéis su palabra viviendo en vosotros, porque no creéis al que él ha enviado.
And you have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him you believe not.
39 “Escudriñáis las Escrituras, porque pensáis que en ellas tenéis la vida eterna; y éstas son las que dan testimonio de mí. (aiōnios g166)
Search the scriptures, for you think in them to have life everlasting; and the same are they that give testimony of me. (aiōnios g166)
40 Pero no queréis venir a mí para que tengáis vida.
And you will not come to me that you may have life.
41 Yo no recibo la gloria de los hombres.
I receive glory not from men.
42 Pero yo os conozco, que no tenéis el amor de Dios en vosotros mismos.
But I know you, that you have not the love of God in you.
43 Yo he venido en nombre de mi Padre, y no me recibís. Si otro viene en su propio nombre, lo recibiréis.
I am come in the name of my Father, and you receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him you will receive.
44 ¿Cómo podéis creer, pues recibís la gloria unos de otros, y no buscáis la gloria que viene del único Dios?
How can you believe, who receive glory one from another: and the glory which is from God alone, you do not seek?
45 “No penséis que os voy a acusar ante el Padre. Hay uno que os acusa, Moisés, en quien habéis puesto vuestra esperanza.
Think not that I will accuse you to the Father. There is one that accuseth you, Moses, in whom you trust.
46 Porque si creyerais a Moisés, me creeríais a mí, pues él escribió sobre mí.
For if you did believe Moses, you would perhaps believe me also; for he wrote of me.
47 Pero si no creéis en sus escritos, ¿cómo vais a creer en mis palabras?”
But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my words?
