Juan 15

1 “Yo soy la verdadera vid, y mi Padre es el viticultor.

I am the true vine, and my Father is the farmer.

2 Todo sarmiento que en mí no da fruto, lo quita. Todo sarmiento que da fruto, lo poda para que dé más fruto.

Every branch in me that bears not fruit he takes away: and every branch that bears fruit, he purges it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

3 Vosotros ya estáis limpios por la palabra que os he dicho.

Now all of you are clean through the word (logos) which I have spoken unto you.

4 Permaneced en mí, y yo en vosotros. Como el sarmiento no puede dar fruto por sí mismo si no permanece en la vid, así tampoco vosotros, si no permanecéis en mí.

Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can all of you, except all of you abide in me.

5 Yo soy la vid. Vosotros sois los sarmientos. El que permanece en mí y yo en él da mucho fruto, porque sin mí no podéis hacer nada.

I am the vine, all of you are the branches: He that abides in me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit: for without me all of you can do nothing.

6 El que no permanece en mí, es arrojado como pámpano y se seca; los recogen, los echan al fuego y se queman.

If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

7 Si permanecéis en mí, y mis palabras permanecen en vosotros, pediréis todo lo que queráis, y se os hará.

If all of you abide in me, and my words (rhema) abide in you, all of you shall ask what all of you will, and it shall be done unto you.

8 “En esto es glorificado mi Padre, en que deis mucho fruto; y así seréis mis discípulos.

Herein is my Father glorified, that all of you bear much fruit; so shall all of you be my disciples.

9 Como el Padre me ha amado, yo también os he amado. Permaneced en mi amor.

As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you: continue all of you in my love. (agape)

10 Si guardáis mis mandamientos, permaneceréis en mi amor, como yo he guardado los mandamientos de mi Padre y permanezco en su amor.

If all of you keep my commandments, all of you shall abide in my love; (agape) even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. (agape)

11 Os he dicho estas cosas para que mi alegría permanezca en vosotros y vuestra alegría sea cumplida.

These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

12 “Este es mi mandamiento: que os améis unos a otros, como yo os he amado.

This is my commandment, That all of you love one another, as I have loved you.

13 Nadie tiene mayor amor que el que da la vida por sus amigos.

Greater love (agape) has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

14 Vosotros sois mis amigos si hacéis lo que yo os mando.

All of you are my friends, if all of you do whatsoever I command you.

15 Ya no os llamo siervos, porque el siervo no sabe lo que hace su señor. Pero os he llamado amigos, porque todo lo que he oído a mi Padre os lo he dado a conocer.

Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knows not what his lord does: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

16 No me habéis elegido a mí, sino que yo os he elegido a vosotros y os he designado para que vayáis y deis fruto, y vuestro fruto permanezca; para que todo lo que pidáis al Padre en mi nombre os lo dé.

All of you have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that all of you should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever all of you shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

17 “Os mando estas cosas, para que os améis unos a otros.

These things I command you, that all of you love one another.

18 Si el mundo os odia, sabed que me ha odiado a mí antes que a vosotros.

If the world hate you, all of you know that it hated me before it hated you.

19 Si fuerais del mundo, el mundo amaría a los suyos. Pero como no sois del mundo, puesto que yo os elegí del mundo, por eso el mundo os odia.

If all of you were of the world, the world would love his own: but because all of you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

20 Recordad la palabra que os dije: ‘Un siervo no es mayor que su señor’. Si me persiguieron a mí, también os perseguirán a vosotros. Si ellos cumplieron mi palabra, también cumplirán la vuestra.

Remember the word (logos) that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, (logos) they will keep your also.

21 Pero todo esto os lo harán por mi nombre, porque no conocen al que me ha enviado.

But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.

22 Si yo no hubiera venido a hablarles, no tendrían pecado; pero ahora no tienen excusa para su pecado.

If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloak for their sin.

23 El que me odia, odia también a mi Padre.

He that hates me hates my Father also.

24 Si yo no hubiera hecho entre ellos las obras que nadie hizo, no tendrían pecado. Pero ahora han visto y también me han odiado a mí y a mi Padre.

If I had not done among them the works which no other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father.

25 Pero esto ha sucedido para que se cumpla la palabra que estaba escrita en su ley: “Me odiaron sin causa”.

But this comes to pass, that the word (logos) might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.

26 “Cuando venga el Consejero que os enviaré de parte del Padre, el Espíritu de la verdad, que procede del Padre, él dará testimonio de mí.

But when the Comforter has come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit (pneuma) of truth, which proceeds from the Father, he shall testify of me:

27 También vosotrosdaréis testimonio, porque habéis estado conmigo desde el principio.

And all of you also shall bear witness, because all of you have been with me from the beginning.
