Joel 2

1 Toca la trompeta en Sión, ¡y hacer sonar una alarma en mi montaña sagrada! Que tiemblen todos los habitantes de la tierra, porque llega el día de Yahvé, porque está muy cerca:

Blow ye the trumpet in Zion; Sound an alarm in my holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble! For the day of Jehovah cometh, for it is near!

2 Un día de oscuridad y penumbra, un día de nubes y espesa oscuridad. Como el amanecer que se extiende sobre las montañas, un pueblo grande y fuerte; nunca ha habido algo parecido, ni habrá más después de ellos, incluso a los años de muchas generaciones.

A day of darkness, and gloominess, A day of clouds, and thick darkness. As the morning light spreadeth itself upon the mountains, There cometh a numerous people and a strong; Like them there have been none of old time, And after them there shall not be, Even to the years of many generations.

3 Un fuego devora ante ellos, y detrás de ellos, arde una llama. La tierra es como el jardín del Edén ante ellos, y detrás de ellos, un desierto desolado. Sí, y nadie ha escapado de ellos.

A fire devoureth before them, And behind them a flame burneth; The land is as the garden of Eden before them. And behind them a desolate wilderness! Yea, nothing escapeth them.

4 Su aspecto es como el de los caballos, y corren como jinetes.

Their appearance is like the appearance of horses, And like horsemen do they run;

5 Como el ruido de los carros en las cimas de los montes, saltan, como el ruido de una llama de fuego que devora el rastrojo, como un pueblo fuerte puesto en orden de batalla.

Like rattling chariots they leap on the tops of the mountains; Like the crackling flame of fire, which devoureth stubble; Like a mighty host set in battle array.

6 Ante su presencia los pueblos se angustian. Todos los rostros se han vuelto pálidos.

Before them the people tremble, And all faces gather blackness.

7 Corren como hombres poderosos. Escalan el muro como guerreros. Cada uno de ellos marcha en su línea, y no se desvían del camino.

They run like mighty men; They climb the wall like warriors; They march every one on his way; They change not their paths.

8 Uno no empuja a otro. Cada uno marcha por su propio camino. Rompieron las defensas y no rompan filas.

One doth not thrust another; They march every one in his path, And though they rush among weapons, they are not wounded.

9 Se precipitan sobre la ciudad. Corren en la pared. Suben a las casas. Entran por las ventanas como ladrones.

They run through the city; They run upon the wall; They go up into the houses; They enter in at the windows, like a thief.

10 La tierra tiembla ante ellos. Los cielos tiemblan. El sol y la luna se oscurecen, y las estrellas retiran su brillo.

The earth quaketh before them, And the heavens tremble; The sun and the moon are darkened, And the stars withdraw their shining.

11 Yahvé hace tronar su voz ante su ejército, porque sus fuerzas son muy grandes; porque es fuerte quien obedece su mandato; porque el día de Yahvé es grande y muy imponente, ¿y quién puede soportarlo?

Jehovah uttereth his voice before his army; For very great is his host; Yea, it is mighty, executing his word; The day of Jehovah is great, and very terrible; Who shall be able to bear it?

12 “Sin embargo, ahora mismo — dice Yahvé — vuélvete a mí con todo tu corazón, y con ayuno, llanto y luto”.

Yet even now, saith Jehovah, Turn ye to me with all your heart, With fasting, with weeping, and with mourning!

13 Rasga tu corazón y no tus vestiduras, y vuélvete a Yahvé, tu Dios; porque es clemente y misericordioso, lento para la ira, y abundante en bondad amorosa, y se abstiene de enviar la calamidad.

And rend your hearts, and not your garments, And turn to Jehovah your God, For he is gracious and merciful, Slow to anger, and of great kindness, And repenteth of a threatened evil.

14 ¿Quién sabe? Puede que se vuelva y ceda, y dejar una bendición detrás de él, una ofrenda de comida y una ofrenda de bebida a Yahvé, tu Dios.

Who knoweth but he will turn and repent, And leave a blessing behind him, Even a flour-offering and a drink-offering for Jehovah your God.

15 ¡Toca la trompeta en Sión! Santificar un ayuno. Convocar una asamblea solemne.

Blow ye the trumpet in Zion; Appoint yea fast; proclaim a solemn assembly!

16 Reúne al pueblo. Santificar la asamblea. Reúne a los ancianos. Reúne a los niños, y a los que amamantan de pecho. Que el novio salga de su habitación, y la novia fuera de su cámara.

Gather the people; appoint a congregation; Assemble the elders; Gather the children and the sucklings! Let the bridegroom come forth from his chamber, And the bride from her nuptial bed!

17 Que los sacerdotes, los ministros de Yahvé, lloren entre el pórtico y el altar, y que digan: “Perdona a tu pueblo, Yahvé, y no des tu herencia a los reproches, que las naciones se enseñoreen de ellos. ¿Por qué han de decir entre los pueblos, ¿Dónde está su Dios?”

Let the priests, the servants of Jehovah, Weep between the porch and the altar, And say, Spare thy people, O Jehovah, And give not thine inheritance to reproach, And to be a by-word to the nations! Why should they say among the nations, Where is their God?

18 Entonces Yahvé se puso celoso por su tierra, y se apiadó de su pueblo.

Then will Jehovah be zealous for his land, And have compassion on his people,

19 Yahvé respondió a su pueblo, “Mira, te enviaré grano, vino nuevo y aceite, y estarás satisfecho con ellos; y no volveré a hacer de ti un oprobio entre las naciones.

Yea, Jehovah will answer, and say to his people, Behold, I will send you corn, And new wine, and oil, and ye shall be satisfied therewith; And I will no more make you a reproach among the nations.

20 Pero yo alejaré de ti al ejército del norte, y lo conducirá a una tierra estéril y desolada, su frente en el mar del este, y su espalda en el mar occidental; y su hedor surgirá, y su mal olor se elevará”. Seguro que ha hecho grandes cosas.

I will remove far from you the northern host, And I will drive it into a dry and desolate land; Its van toward the Eastern sea, And its rear toward the Western sea. And its scent shall come up, And its ill savor shall come up, Because it hath done great things.

21 Tierra, no tengas miedo. Alegraos y regocijaos, porque Yahvé ha hecho grandes cosas.

Fear not, O land, exult and rejoice, For Jehovah hath done great things!

22 No tengáis miedo, animales del campo; porque los pastos del desierto brotan, porque el árbol da sus frutos. La higuera y la vid dan su fuerza.

Fear not, O ye beasts of the field, For the pastures of the desert spring up, For the tree beareth its fruit; The fig-tree and the vine yield their strength!

23 “Alegraos, pues, hijos de Sión, y alégrate en Yahvé, tu Dios; pues te da la lluvia temprana en justa medida, y hace que la lluvia caiga para ti, la lluvia temprana y la lluvia tardía, como antes.

And, O ye sons of Zion, exult, And rejoice in Jehovah your God! For he giveth you the former rain in just measure, And causeth showers to come down upon you, Even the former rain, and the latter rain, as aforetime.

24 Las eras estarán llenas de trigo, y las cubas rebosarán de vino nuevo y aceite.

And the threshing-floors shall be full of wheat, And the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil.

25 Te devolveré los años que se ha comido la langosta, la gran langosta, el saltamontes y la oruga, mi gran ejército, que envié entre vosotros.

And I will restore to you the years Which the swarming-locust hath eaten, The licking-locust, the consuming-locust, and the gnawing-locusts, My great army, which I sent among you.

26 Tendrás mucho que comer y estarás satisfecho, y alabarán el nombre de Yahvé, su Dios, que ha tratado maravillosamente contigo; y mi pueblo nunca más será decepcionado.

Ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, And praise the name of Jehovah your God, Who hath dealt wondrously with you; And my people shall never be put to shame.

27 Sabrás que estoy en medio de Israel, y que yo soy Yahvé, tu Dios, y no hay otro; y mi pueblo nunca más será decepcionado.

Ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, And that I am Jehovah, your God, and none else; And my people shall never be put to shame.

28 “Después sucederá que derramaré mi Espíritu sobre toda la carne; y tus hijos y tus hijas profetizarán. Tus viejos soñarán sueños. Sus jóvenes verán visiones.

And it shall come to pass afterward, That I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy; Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions.

29 Y también sobre los siervos y las siervas en aquellos días, Derramaré mi Espíritu.

Upon the men-servants also, and upon the handmaids, Will I pour out my spirit in those days.

30 Mostraré maravillas en los cielos y en la tierra: sangre, fuego y columnas de humo.

And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth; Blood and fire, and pillars of smoke.

31 El sol se convertirá en oscuridad, y la luna en sangre, antes de que llegue el gran y terrible día de Yahvé.

The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the day of Jehovah cometh, The great and the terrible day. Then whoever calleth on the name of Jehovah shall be delivered;

32 Sucederá que quien invoque el nombre de Yahvé se salvará; porque en el monte Sión y en Jerusalén habrá quienes escapen, como ha dicho Yahvé, y entre el remanente, los que Yahvé llama.

For upon mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, shall be deliverance, As Jehovah hath spoken; And among the remnant, whom Jehovah shall call.
