Job 9
1 Entonces Job respondió,
Then Job answered and said,
2 “En verdad sé que es así, ¿pero cómo puede el hombre ser justo con Dios?
I know [it is] so of a truth: but how should man be just with God?
3 Si se complace en contender con él, no puede responderle ni una vez entre mil.
If he will contend with him, he cannot answer him one of a thousand.
4 Dios es sabio de corazón y poderoso de fuerza. ¿Quién se ha endurecido contra él y ha prosperado?
[He is] wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who hath hardened [himself] against him, and hath prospered?
5 Él remueve las montañas, y ellos no lo saben, cuando los derriba en su cólera.
Which removeth the mountains, and they know not: which overturneth them in his anger.
6 Sacude la tierra de su lugar. Sus pilares tiemblan.
Which shaketh the earth out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble.
7 Ordena el sol y no sale, y sella las estrellas.
Which commandeth the sun, and it riseth not; and sealeth up the stars.
8 Sólo él extiende los cielos, y pisa las olas del mar.
Which alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea.
9 Él hace la Osa, Orión y las Pléyades, y las habitaciones del sur.
Which maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south.
10 Él hace grandes cosas más allá de descubrirlas; sí, cosas maravillosas sin número.
Which doeth great things past finding out; yea, and wonders without number.
11 He aquí que pasa por delante de mí y no lo veo. También pasa, pero no lo percibo.
Lo, he goeth by me, and I see [him] not: he passeth on also, but I perceive him not.
12 He aquí que él arrebata. ¿Quién puede impedirlo? ¿Quién le preguntará: “Qué estás haciendo?”?
Behold, he taketh away, who can hinder him? who will say unto him, What doest thou?
13 “Dios no retirará su ira. Los ayudantes de Rahab se inclinan bajo él.
[If] God will not withdraw his anger, the proud helpers do stoop under him.
14 Cuánto menos le responderé, y elegir mis palabras para discutir con él?
How much less shall I answer him, [and] choose out my words [to reason] with him?
15 Aunque fuera justo, no le respondería. Yo haría una súplica a mi juez.
Whom, though I were righteous, [yet] would I not answer, [but] I would make supplication to my judge.
16 Si yo hubiera llamado, y él me hubiera respondido, sin embargo, no creo que haya escuchado mi voz.
If I had called, and he had answered me; [yet] would I not believe that he had hearkened unto my voice.
17 Porque me rompe con una tormenta, y multiplica mis heridas sin causa.
For he breaketh me with a tempest, and multiplieth my wounds without cause.
18 No me permite recuperar el aliento, pero me llena de amargura.
He will not suffer me to take my breath, but filleth me with bitterness.
19 Si se trata de una cuestión de fuerza, ¡he aquí que él es poderoso! Si de justicia se trata, “¿Quién — dice — me va a convocar?”.
If [I speak] of strength, lo, [he is] strong: and if of judgment, who shall set me a time [to plead]?
20 Aunque sea justo, mi propia boca me condenará. Aunque sea intachable, se demostrará que soy perverso.
If I justify myself, mine own mouth shall condemn me: [if I say], I [am] perfect, it shall also prove me perverse.
21 Soy irreprochable. No me respeto a mí mismo. Desprecio mi vida.
[Though] I [were] perfect, [yet] would I not know my soul: I would despise my life.
22 “Todo es lo mismo. Por eso digo que destruye a los irreprochables y a los malvados.
This [is] one [thing], therefore I said [it], He destroyeth the perfect and the wicked.
23 Si el azote mata de repente, se burlará en el juicio de los inocentes.
If the scourge slay suddenly, he will laugh at the trial of the innocent.
24 La tierra es entregada a la mano de los malvados. Cubre los rostros de sus jueces. Si no es él, ¿quién es?
The earth is given into the hand of the wicked: he covereth the faces of the judges thereof; if not, where, [and] who [is] he?
25 “Ahora mis días son más rápidos que un corredor. Huyen. No ven nada bueno.
Now my days are swifter than a post: they flee away, they see no good.
26 Han pasado como las naves rápidas, como el águila que se abalanza sobre la presa.
They are passed away as the swift ships: as the eagle [that] hasteth to the prey.
27 Si digo: ‘Olvidaré mi queja’, Voy a quitar mi cara de tristeza y a animarme”.
If I say, I will forget my complaint, I will leave off my heaviness, and comfort [myself: ]
28 Tengo miedo de todas mis penas. Sé que no me considerará inocente.
I am afraid of all my sorrows, I know that thou wilt not hold me innocent.
29 Seré condenado. ¿Por qué entonces trabajo en vano?
[If] I be wicked, why then labour I in vain?
30 Si me lavo con nieve y limpiar mis manos con lejía,
If I wash myself with snow water, and make my hands never so clean;
31 sin embargo, me hundirás en la zanja. Mi propia ropa me aborrecerá.
Yet shalt thou plunge me in the ditch, and mine own clothes shall abhor me.
32 Porque él no es un hombre como yo, para que le responda, que debemos reunirnos en el juicio.
For [he is] not a man, as I [am, that] I should answer him, [and] we should come together in judgment.
33 No hay árbitro entre nosotros, que podría poner su mano sobre nosotros dos.
Neither is there any daysman betwixt us, [that] might lay his hand upon us both.
34 Que me quite la vara. Que su terror no me haga temer;
Let him take his rod away from me, and let not his fear terrify me:
35 entonces hablaría y no le temería, pues no lo soy en mí mismo.
[Then] would I speak, and not fear him; but [it is] not so with me.
