Job 34
1 Además, Eliú respondió,
Moreover Elihu answered and said,
2 “Escuchad mis palabras, sabios. Escúchame, tú que tienes conocimiento.
Hear my words, ye wise men; and give ear unto me, ye that have knowledge.
3 Porque el oído prueba las palabras, como el paladar prueba la comida.
For the ear trieth words, as the palate tasteth meat.
4 Escojamos para nosotros lo que es correcto. Conozcamos entre nosotros lo que es bueno.
Let us choose for us that which is right: let us know among ourselves what is good.
5 Porque Job ha dicho: “Soy justo”, Dios me ha quitado el derecho.
For Job hath said, I am righteous, and God hath taken away my right:
6 A pesar de mi derecho se me considera un mentiroso. Mi herida es incurable, aunque estoy sin desobediencia’.
Notwithstanding my right I am [accounted] a liar; my wound is incurable, [though I am] without transgression.
7 Qué hombre es como Job, que bebe el desprecio como el agua,
What man is like Job, who drinketh up scorning like water?
8 que va en compañía de los obreros de la iniquidad, y camina con los hombres malvados?
Which goeth in company with the workers of iniquity, and walketh with wicked men.
9 Porque él ha dicho: “De nada le sirve al hombre para que se deleite con Dios”.
For he hath said, it profiteth a man nothing that he should delight himself with God.
10 “Por tanto, escuchadme, hombres de entendimiento: lejos de Dios, que haga la maldad, del Todopoderoso, para que cometa iniquidad.
Therefore hearken unto me, ye men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness; and from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity.
11 Porque el trabajo de un hombre se lo devolverá, y haz que cada uno encuentre según sus caminos.
For the work of a man shall he render unto him, and cause every man to find according to his ways.
12 Sí, ciertamente, Dios no hará maldad, ni el Todopoderoso pervertirá la justicia.
Yea, of a surety, God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert judgment.
13 ¿Quién lo puso a cargo de la tierra? ¿O quién lo ha designado sobre el mundo entero?
Who gave him a charge over the earth? or who hath disposed the whole world?
14 Si pone su corazón en sí mismo, si reuniera para sí su espíritu y su aliento,
If he set his heart upon man, [if] he gather unto himself his spirit and his breath;
15 toda la carne perecería junta, y el hombre volvería a convertirse en polvo.
All flesh shall perish together, and man shall turn again unto dust.
16 “Si ahora tienes entendimiento, escucha esto. Escucha la voz de mis palabras.
If now [thou hast] understanding, hear this: hearken to the voice of my words.
17 ¿Debe gobernar incluso quien odia la justicia? ¿Condenarás al que es justo y poderoso,
Shall even one that hateth right govern? and wilt thou condemn him that is just [and] mighty?
18 que dice a un rey: “¡Vil! o a los nobles, “¡malvados!”?
Is it [fit] to say to a king, [Thou art] vile? [or] to nobles, [Ye are] wicked?
19 No respeta las personas de los príncipes, ni respetar a los ricos más que a los pobres, porque todos son obra de sus manos.
[How much less to] him that respecteth not the persons of princes, nor regardeth the rich more than the poor? for they all are the work of his hands.
20 En un momento mueren, incluso a medianoche. El pueblo se estremece y fallece. A los poderosos se les quita la mano.
In a moment they die, even at midnight; the people are shaken and pass away, and the mighty are taken away without hand.
21 “Porque sus ojos están en los caminos del hombre. Él ve todas sus salidas.
For his eyes are upon the ways of a man, and he seeth all his goings.
22 No hay oscuridad, ni tinieblas espesas, donde los obreros de la iniquidad pueden esconderse.
There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.
23 Porque no necesita considerar más a un hombre, que debe ir ante Dios en el juicio.
For he needeth not further to consider a man, that he should go before God in judgment.
24 El rompe en pedazos a los hombres poderosos de una manera que no se puede descubrir, y pone a otros en su lugar.
He breaketh in pieces mighty men [in ways] past finding out, and setteth others in their stead.
25 Por eso toma conocimiento de sus obras. Él los derriba en la noche, para que sean destruidos.
Therefore he taketh knowledge of their works; and he overturneth them in the night, so that they are destroyed.
26 Los golpea como hombres malvados a la vista de los demás;
He striketh them as wicked men in the open sight of others;
27 porque se apartaron de seguirlo, y no prestaba atención a ninguna de sus formas,
Because they turned aside from following him, and would not have regard to any of his ways:
28 de modo que hicieron llegar a él el clamor de los pobres. Oyó el clamor de los afligidos.
So that they caused the cry of the poor to come unto him, and he heard the cry of the afflicted.
29 Cuando da tranquilidad, ¿quién puede entonces condenar? Cuando esconde su rostro, ¿quién puede verlo entonces? Está sobre una nación o un hombre por igual,
When he giveth quietness, who then can condemn? and when he hideth his face, who then can behold him? whether [it be done] unto a nation, or unto a man, alike:
30 para que no reine el hombre impío, para que no haya nadie que engañe al pueblo.
That the godless man reign not, that there be none to ensnare the people.
31 “Porque ¿ha dicho alguno a Dios, ‘Soy culpable, pero no ofenderé más.
For hath any said unto God, I have borne [chastisement], I will not offend [any more]:
32 Enséñame lo que no veo. Si he hecho iniquidad, no la haré más’?
That which I see not teach thou me: if I have done iniquity, I will do it no more?
33 ¿Será su recompensa como deseas, que la rechaces? Porque tú debes elegir, y no yo. Por lo tanto, habla de lo que sabes.
Shall his recompence be as thou wilt, that thou refusest it? for thou must choose, and not I: therefore speak what thou knowest.
34 Los hombres de entendimiento me dirán, sí, todo sabio que me escuche:
Men of understanding will say unto me, yea, every wise man that heareth me:
35 “Job habla sin conocimiento. Sus palabras carecen de sabiduría”.
Job speaketh without knowledge, and his words are without wisdom.
36 Deseo que Job sea juzgado hasta el final, a causa de su respuesta como hombres malvados.
Would that Job were tried unto the end, because of his answering like wicked men.
37 Porque añade la rebelión a su pecado. Aplaude entre nosotros, y multiplica sus palabras contra Dios”.
For he addeth rebellion unto his sin, he clappeth his hands among us, and multiplieth his words against God.
