Job 22
1 Entonces Elifaz, el temanita, respondió,
Then Eliphaz the Thaemanite answered and said,
2 “¿Puede un hombre ser útil a Dios? Ciertamente, el que es sabio se beneficia a sí mismo.
Is it not the Lord that teaches understanding and knowledge?
3 ¿Acaso es un placer para el Todopoderoso que seas justo? ¿O es que le beneficia que hagas tus caminos perfectos?
For what matters it to the Lord, if you were blameless in [your] works? or is it profitable that you should perfect your way?
4 ¿Es por tu piedad que te reprende, que entre con vosotros en el juicio?
Will you maintain and plead your own cause? and will he enter into judgment with you?
5 ¿No es grande tu maldad? Tampoco tienen fin sus iniquidades.
Is not your wickedness abundant, and your sins innumerable?
6 Porque has tomado prendas de tu hermano a cambio de nada, y despojaron a los desnudos de sus ropas.
And you have taken security of your brethren for nothing, and have taken away the clothing of the naked.
7 No has dado de beber agua al cansado, y has negado el pan al hambriento.
Neither have you given water to the thirsty to drink, but have taken away the morsel of the hungry.
8 Pero en cuanto al hombre poderoso, tenía la tierra. El hombre honorable, vivía en él.
And you have accepted the persons of some; and you have established those [that were already settled] on the earth.
9 Has despedido a las viudas con las manos vacías, y los brazos de los huérfanos se han roto.
But you have sent widows away empty, and has afflicted orphans.
10 Por lo tanto, las trampas están a tu alrededor. El miedo repentino te inquieta,
Therefore snares have compassed you, and disastrous war has troubled you.
11 o la oscuridad, para que no puedas ver, y las inundaciones de las aguas te cubren.
The light has proved darkness to you, and water has covered you on your lying down.
12 “¿No está Dios en las alturas del cielo? Mira la altura de las estrellas, ¡qué altas son!
Does not he that dwells in the high places observe? and has he not brought down the proud?
13 Tú dices: “¿Qué sabe Dios? ¿Puede juzgar a través de la espesa oscuridad?
And you has said, What does the Mighty One know? does he judge in the dark?
14 Las densas nubes le cubren, para que no vea. Camina sobre la bóveda del cielo”.
A cloud is his hiding-place, and he shall not be seen; and he passes through the circle of heaven.
15 ¿Mantendrás el viejo camino, que los hombres malvados han pisado,
Will you [not] mark the old way, which righteous men have trodden?
16 que fueron arrebatados antes de tiempo, cuyo fundamento se derramó como un arroyo,
who were seized before their time: their foundations [are as] an overflowing stream.
17 que dijo a Dios: “¡Aléjate de nosotros! y, “¿Qué puede hacer el Todopoderoso por nosotros?
Who say, What will the Lord do to us? or what will the Almighty bring upon us?
18 Sin embargo, llenó sus casas de cosas buenas, pero el consejo de los malvados está lejos de mí.
Yet he filled their houses with good things: but the counsel for the wicked is far from him.
19 Los justos lo ven y se alegran. Los inocentes los ridiculizan,
The righteous have seen [it], and laughed, and the blameless one has derided [them].
20 diciendo: “Ciertamente, los que se levantaron contra nosotros han sido eliminados. El fuego ha consumido su remanente”.
Verily their substance has been utterly destroyed, and the fire shall devour what is left of their [property].
21 “Conócelo ahora y quédate tranquilo. Por ello, el bien te llegará.
Be firm, I pray you, if you can endure; then your fruit shall prosper.
22 Por favor, recibe la instrucción de su boca, y guarda sus palabras en tu corazón.
And receive a declaration from his mouth, and lay up his words in your heart.
23 Si vuelves al Todopoderoso, serás edificado, si apartáis la injusticia lejos de vuestras tiendas.
And if you shall turn and humble yourself before the Lord, you have [thus] removed unrighteousness far from your habitation.
24 Deja tu tesoro en el polvo, el oro de Ofir entre las piedras de los arroyos.
You shall lay up for yourself [treasure] in a heap on the rock; and Sophir [shall be] as the rock of the torrent.
25 El Todopoderoso será tu tesoro, y plata preciosa para ti.
So the Almighty shall be your helper from enemies, and he shall bring you forth pure as silver that has been tried by fire.
26 Porque entonces te deleitarás en el Todopoderoso, y levantarás tu rostro hacia Dios.
Then shall you have boldness before the Lord, looking up cheerfully to heaven.
27 Le harás tu oración, y él te escuchará. Pagarás tus votos.
And he shall hear you when you pray to him, and he shall grant you [power] to pay your vows.
28 También decretarás una cosa, y te será establecida. La luz brillará en tus caminos.
And he shall establish to you again a habitation of righteousness and there shall be light upon your paths.
29 Cuando se abatan, dirás: “levántate”. Él salvará a la persona humilde.
Because you have humbled yourself; and you shall say, [Man] has behaved proudly, but he shall save him that is of lowly eyes.
30 Élincluso entregará al que no es inocente. Sí, será liberado por la limpieza de tus manos”.
He shall deliver the innocent, and do you save yourself by your pure hands.
