Job 12
1 Entonces Job respondió,
Then Job answered and said:
2 “Sin duda, pero vosotros sois el pueblo, y la sabiduría morirá contigo.
No doubt ye are the whole people! And wisdom will die with you!
3 Pero yo también tengo entendimiento como tú; No soy inferior a ti. Sí, ¿quién no sabe cosas como éstas?
But I have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you: Yea, who knoweth not such things as these?
4 Soy como uno que es una broma para su vecino, Yo, que invoqué a Dios, y él me respondió. El hombre justo e irreprochable es una broma.
I am become a laughing-stock to my friend, —I who call upon God, that he would answer me! The innocent and upright man is held in derision.
5 En el pensamiento del que está tranquilo hay desprecio por la desgracia. Está preparado para los que resbalan con el pie.
To calamity belongeth contempt in the mind of one at ease; It is ready for them that slip with the feet.
6 Las tiendas de los ladrones prosperan. Los que provocan a Dios están seguros, que llevan a su dios en sus manos.
The tents of robbers are in prosperity, And they who provoke God are secure, Who carry their God in their hand.
7 “Pero pregunta ahora a los animales, y ellos te enseñarán; los pájaros del cielo, y ellos te lo dirán.
For ask now the beasts, and they will teach thee; Or the fowls of the air, and they will tell thee;
8 O habla con la tierra, y ella te enseñará. Los peces del mar te declararán.
Or speak to the earth, and it will instruct thee; And the fishes of the sea will declare unto thee.
9 ¿Quién no sabe que en todos estos, La mano de Yahvé ha hecho esto,
Who among all these doth not know That the hand of Jehovah doeth these things?
10 en cuya mano está la vida de todo ser viviente, y el aliento de toda la humanidad?
In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, And the breath of all mankind.
11 El oído no prueba las palabras, incluso cuando el paladar prueba su comida?
Doth not the ear prove words, As the mouth tasteth meat?
12 Con los ancianos está la sabiduría, en la duración de la comprensión de los días.
With the aged is wisdom, And with length of days is understanding.
13 “Con Dios está la sabiduría y la fuerza. Tiene consejo y comprensión.
With Him are wisdom and strength; With Him counsel and understanding.
14 He aquí que se rompe, y no se puede volver a construir. Encarcela a un hombre, y no puede ser liberado.
Lo! he pulleth down, and it shall not be rebuilt; He bindeth a man, and he shall not be set loose.
15 He aquí que él retiene las aguas, y se secan. Una vez más, los envía, y vuelcan la tierra.
Lo! he withholdeth the waters, and they are dried up; He sendeth them forth, and they lay waste the earth.
16 Con él está la fuerza y la sabiduría. El engañado y el engañador son suyos.
With him are strength and wisdom; The deceived and the deceiver are his.
17 Lleva a los consejeros despojados. Hace que los jueces sean tontos.
He leadeth counsellors away captive, And judges he maketh fools.
18 Él desata el vínculo de los reyes. Les ata la cintura con un cinturón.
He looseth the authority of kings, And bindeth their loins with a cord.
19 Lleva a los sacerdotes despojados, y derroca a los poderosos.
He leadeth priests away captive, And overthroweth the mighty.
20 Elimina el discurso de los que se confían, y quita la comprensión de los ancianos.
He removeth speech from the trusty, And taketh away judgment from the elders.
21 Derrama desprecio sobre los príncipes, y afloja el cinturón de los fuertes.
He poureth contempt upon princes, And looseth the girdle of the mighty.
22 Él descubre las cosas profundas de la oscuridad, y saca a la luz la sombra de la muerte.
He revealeth deep things out of darkness, And bringeth the shadow of death to light.
23 El aumenta las naciones y las destruye. Él engrandece a las naciones, y las lleva cautivas.
He exalteth nations, and destroyeth them; He enlargeth nations, and leadeth them captive.
24 Quita el entendimiento a los jefes de los pueblos de la tierra, y les hace vagar por un desierto donde no hay camino.
He taketh away the understanding of the great men of the land, And causeth them to wander in a wilderness, where is no path;
25 Andan a tientas en la oscuridad sin luz. Les hace tambalearse como un borracho.
They grope in the dark without light; He maketh them stagger like a drunken man.
