Job 11
1 Entonces Zofar, el naamita, respondió,
Then Zophar the Naamathite made answer and said,
2 “¿No hay que responder a la multitud de palabras? ¿Debe justificarse un hombre lleno de palabrería?
Are all these words to go unanswered? and is a man seen to be right because he is full of talk?
3 ¿Deberían tus fanfarronadas hacer que los hombres callen? Cuando te burles, ¿nadie te avergonzará?
Are your words of pride to make men keep quiet? and are you to make sport, with no one to put you to shame?
4 Porque tú dices: “Mi doctrina es pura”. Estoy limpio a tus ojos’.
You may say, My way is clean, and I am free from sin in your eyes.
5 Pero, oh, que Dios hable, y abrir sus labios contra ti,
But if only God would take up the word, opening his lips in argument with you;
6 ¡que te muestre los secretos de la sabiduría! Porque la verdadera sabiduría tiene dos caras. Sabed, pues, que Dios os exige menos de lo que vuestra iniquidad merece.
And would make clear to you the secrets of wisdom, and the wonders of his purpose!
7 “¿Puedes comprender el misterio de Dios? ¿O puedes sondear los límites del Todopoderoso?
Are you able to take God's measure, to make discovery of the limits of the Ruler of all?
8 Son altos como el cielo. ¿Qué pueden hacer? Son más profundos que el Seol. ¿Qué puedes saber? (Sheol h7585)
They are higher than heaven; what is there for you to do? deeper than the underworld, and outside your knowledge; (Sheol h7585)
9 Su medida es más larga que la tierra, y más amplio que el mar.
Longer in measure than the earth, and wider than the sea.
10 Si pasa o confina, o convoca un tribunal, entonces ¿quién puede oponerse a él?
If he goes on his way, shutting a man up and putting him to death, who may make him go back from his purpose?
11 Porque conoce a los hombres falsos. También ve la iniquidad, aunque no la considere.
For in his eyes men are as nothing; he sees evil and takes note of it.
12 Un hombre con la cabeza vacía se vuelve sabio cuando un hombre nace como un potro de asno salvaje.
And so a hollow-minded man will get wisdom, when a young ass of the field gets teaching.
13 “Si pones tu corazón en orden, Extiende tus manos hacia él.
But if you put your heart right, stretching out your hands to him;
14 Si la iniquidad está en tu mano, ponla lejos. No dejes que la injusticia habite en tus tiendas.
If you put far away the evil of your hands, and let no wrongdoing have a place in your tent;
15 Seguramente entonces levantarás tu rostro sin mancha. Sí, estarás firme y no temerás,
Then truly your face will be lifted up, with no mark of sin, and you will be fixed in your place without fear:
16 porque olvidarás tu miseria. Lo recordarás como las aguas que han pasado.
For your sorrow will go from your memory, like waters flowing away:
17 La vida será más clara que el mediodía. Aunque haya oscuridad, será como la mañana.
And your life will be brighter than day; though it is dark, it will become like the morning.
18 Estarás seguro, porque hay esperanza. Sí, buscarás y descansarás con seguridad.
And you will be safe because there is hope; after looking round, you will take your rest in quiet;
19 También te acostarás, y nadie te hará temer. Sí, muchos cortejarán su favor.
Sleeping with no fear of danger; and men will be desiring to have grace in your eyes;
20 Pero los ojos de los malvados fallarán. No tendrán forma de huir. Su esperanza será la entrega del espíritu”.
But the eyes of the evil-doers will be wasting away; their way of flight is gone, and their only hope is the taking of their last breath.
