Jeremías 22
1 Yahvé dijo: “Baja a la casa del rey de Judá y di allí esta palabra:
Thus said Jehovah: Go down to the house of the king of Judah, and there speak these words.
2 ‘Escucha la palabra de Yahvé, rey de Judá, que se sienta en el trono de David: tú, tus siervos y tu pueblo que entran por estas puertas.
Hear the word of Jehovah, thou king of Judah, That sittest upon the throne of David, Thou, and thy servants, and thy people, Who go in and out through these gates!
3 Yahvé dice: “Ejecuta el derecho y la justicia, y libera al despojado de la mano del opresor. No hagas ningún mal. No hagas violencia al extranjero, al huérfano o a la viuda. No derrames sangre inocente en este lugar.
Thus saith Jehovah: Do justice and righteousness; Deliver the spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor; To the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow Do no wrong, do no violence, And shed no innocent blood in this place!
4 Porque si hacéis esto, los reyes que se sientan en el trono de David entrarán por las puertas de esta casa, montados en carros y en caballos: ellos, sus siervos y su pueblo.
For if ye shall do this, Then shall there enter in through the gates of this house Kings, who shall sit upon the throne of David, Riding in chariots and upon horses, Each one with his servants and his people.
5 Pero si no escuchan estas palabras, juro por mí mismo — dice el Señor — que esta casa se convertirá en una desolación”.
But if ye will not hearken to these words, By myself do I swear, saith Jehovah, That this house shall become a desolation.
6 Porque Yahvé dice sobre la casa del rey de Judá: “Tú eres Gilead para mí, el jefe del Líbano. Sin embargo, ciertamente te convertiré en un desierto, ciudades que no están habitadas.
For thus saith Jehovah to the house of the king of Judah: Gilead art thou to me, yea, the summit of Lebanon; Yet will I make thee a desert, As cities not inhabited.
7 Prepararé destructores contra ti, todos con sus armas, y cortarán sus cedros preferidos, y los echó al fuego.
I will appoint against thee destroyers, Every one with his weapons; And they shall cut down thy choice cedars, And cast them into the fire.
8 “Muchas naciones pasarán por esta ciudad, y cada una de ellas preguntará a su vecino: “¿Por qué ha hecho esto Yahvé a esta gran ciudad?”
And many nations shall pass by this city, And they shall say one to another, “Wherefore hath Jehovah done thus to this great city?”
9 Entonces responderán: “Porque abandonaron la alianza de Yahvé, su Dios, adoraron a otros dioses y les sirvieron.”
Then shall they answer: “Because they forsook the covenant of Jehovah their God, And worshipped strange gods, And served them.”
10 No llores por los muertos. No lo lamentes; pero llora amargamente por el que se va, porque no volverá más, y no ver su país natal.
Weep not for him that is dead, Make no lamentation for him! Weep, weep ye for him who is gone away; For he shall return no more, Nor see his native land!
11 Porque el Señor dice tocando a Salum, hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, que reinó en lugar de su padre Josías, y que salió de este lugar “No volverá más allí.
For thus saith Jehovah Concerning Shallum, the son of Josiah, king of Judah, Who reigned instead of Josiah his father, Who went forth from this place: He shall return to it no more;
12 Pero morirá en el lugar donde lo han llevado cautivo. No volverá a ver esta tierra”.
But in the place whither they have led him captive shall he die, And shall see this land no more.
13 “Ay del que construye su casa con la injusticia, y sus habitaciones por la injusticia; que utiliza el servicio de su vecino sin cobrar, y no le da su alquiler;
Woe to him that buildeth his house with injustice, And his upper apartments with wrong; That exacteth a man's service without wages, And giveth him no recompense!
14 que dice: “Voy a construirme una casa amplia y habitaciones espaciosas”. y recorta las ventanas para sí mismo, con un techo de cedro, y pintado de rojo.
That saith, “I will build me a large house, And spacious apartments,” And that cutteth out windows, And ceileth it with cedar, And painteth it with vermilion!
15 “¿Debes reinar porque te esfuerzas por sobresalir en el cedro? ¿Tu padre no comía y bebía? y hacer justicia y rectitud? Entonces le fue bien.
Shalt thou reign because thou rivallest others in cedar? Did not thy father eat and drink? Yet he had regard to justice and equity; Therefore it was well, with him.
16 Juzgó la causa de los pobres y necesitados; así que entonces estaba bien. ¿No era esto para conocerme?” dice Yahvé.
He maintained the cause of the poor and needy; Then was it well with him; Was not this to know me, saith Jehovah?
17 Pero tus ojos y tu corazón son sólo para tu codicia, por derramar sangre inocente, para la opresión, y para hacer violencia”.
But thine eyes and thy heart are only upon thine own gain, And the shedding of innocent blood, And deeds of violence and oppression.
18 Por lo tanto, Yahvé dice respecto a Joacim, hijo de Josías, rey de Judá “No se lamentarán por él, diciendo: “¡Ah, mi hermano!” o “¡Ah, hermana! No se lamentarán por él, diciendo “¡Ah señor!” o, “¡Ah su gloria!
Therefore thus saith Jehovah, Concerning Jehoiakim, the son of Josiah, king of Judah: They shall not lament for him, saying, “Alas, my brother!” or, “Alas, sister!” They shall not lament for him, saying, “Alas, lord!” or, “Alas, his glory!”
19 Será enterrado con la sepultura de un burro, arrastrados y expulsados más allá de las puertas de Jerusalén”.
With the burial of an ass shall he be buried, Dragged along and cast forth beyond the gates of Jerusalem.
20 “Sube al Líbano y grita. Alza tu voz en Basán, y claman desde Abarim; porque todos tus amantes han sido destruidos.
Go thou up to Lebanon and cry, [[O Jerusalem!]] And upon Bashan lift up thy voice; Cry aloud from Abarim! For all thy lovers are fallen.
21 Te hablé en tu prosperidad, pero tú dijiste: “No voy a escuchar”. Este ha sido tu camino desde tu juventud, que no obedeciste mi voz.
I spake to thee in thy prosperity, But thou saidst, “I will not hear.” This hath been thy manner from thy youth; Thou hast not obeyed my voice.
22 El viento alimentará a todos tus pastores, y tus amantes irán al cautiverio. Seguramente entonces te avergonzarás y confundido por toda tu maldad.
The wind shall consume all thy shepherds, And thy lovers shall go into captivity; Then shalt thou be ashamed And confounded for all thy wickedness.
23 Habitante del Líbano, que hace su nido en los cedros, que se compadecerá de ti cuando te lleguen los dolores, ¡el dolor como el de una mujer de parto!
O thou that dwellest in Lebanon, That makest thy nest in cedars, How wretched shalt thou be, when anguish cometh upon thee, Pain, as of a woman in travail!
24 “Vivo yo — dice el Señor — que aunque Conías, hijo de Joacim, rey de Judá, fuera el sello de mi mano derecha, te arrancaría de allí.
As I live, saith Jehovah, Thou Coniah, son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, Though thou wert the signet upon my right hand, Even thence would I pluck thee!
25 Te entregaría a la mano de los que buscan tu vida, y a la mano de los que te dan miedo, a la mano de Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, y a la mano de los caldeos.
And I will give thee into the hand of them that seek thy life, And into the hand of them that thou fearest, Even into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, And into the hand of the Chaldaeans.
26 Te echaré con tu madre que te dio a luz a otro país, donde no naciste, y allí morirás.
And I will cast thee forth, And thy mother that bore thee, Into a foreign land, Where ye were not born; And there shall ye die.
27 Pero a la tierra a la que su alma anhela regresar, allí no volverán”.
To the land to which they desire to return, Thither shall they not return.
28 ¿Es este hombre, Conías, un vaso roto y despreciado? ¿Es un recipiente en el que nadie se deleita? Por qué son expulsados, él y su descendencia, y arrojados a una tierra que no conocen?
“Is then this man Coniah a contemptible broken vessel? Is he a vessel which no man careth for? Wherefore are he and his offspring cast forth, And thrown into a land which they know not?”
29 Oh, tierra, tierra, tierra, ¡escuchen la palabra de Yahvé!
O land, land, land, hear the word of Jehovah!
30 Dice Yahvé, “Registra a este hombre como sin hijos, un hombre que no prosperará en sus días; porque ya no prosperará el hombre de su descendencia, sentado en el trono de David y gobernando en Judá”.
Thus saith Jehovah: Write ye this man childless, A man that shall not be prosperous through his life; For none of his offspring shall prosper, So as to sit on the throne of David, And reign hereafter in Judah.
