Jeremías 15

1 Entonces el Señor me dijo: “Aunque Moisés y Samuel estuvieran delante de mí, mi mente no se volvería hacia este pueblo. Apártalos de mi vista y deja que salgan.

Then said the LORD unto me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, [yet] my mind [could] not [be] toward this people: cast [them] out of my sight, and let them go forth.

2 Sucederá que cuando te pregunten: “¿Por dónde saldremos?”, les dirás: “Dice el Señor: “Los que son para la muerte, a la muerte; los que son para la espada, a la espada; los que son para el hambre, al hambre; y los que son para el cautiverio, al cautiverio”.

And it shall come to pass, if they say unto thee, Whither shall we go forth? then thou shalt tell them, Thus saith the LORD; Such as [are] for death, to death; and such as [are] for the sword, to the sword; and such as [are] for the famine, to the famine; and such as [are] for the captivity, to the captivity.

3 “Designaré sobre ellos cuatro clases”, dice Yahvé: “la espada para matar, los perros para desgarrar, las aves del cielo y los animales de la tierra para devorar y destruir.

And I will appoint over them four kinds, saith the LORD: the sword to slay, and the dogs to tear, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the earth, to devour and destroy.

4 Haré que sean arrojados de un lado a otro entre todos los reinos de la tierra, a causa de Manasés, hijo de Ezequías, rey de Judá, por lo que hizo en Jerusalén.

And I will cause them to be removed into all kingdoms of the earth, because of Manasseh the son of Hezekiah king of Judah, for [that] which he did in Jerusalem.

5 Porque ¿quién se apiadará de ti, Jerusalén? ¿Quién te llorará? ¿Quién vendrá a preguntar por su bienestar?

For who shall have pity upon thee, O Jerusalem? or who shall bemoan thee? or who shall go aside to ask how thou doest?

6 Me has rechazado”, dice Yahvé. “Has ido hacia atrás. Por eso he extendido mi mano contra ti y te destruyó. Estoy cansado de mostrar compasión.

Thou hast forsaken me, saith the LORD, thou art gone backward: therefore will I stretch out my hand against thee, and destroy thee; I am weary with repenting.

7 Los he aventado con un abanico en las puertas de la tierra. Les he quitado hijos. He destruido a mi pueblo. No volvieron de sus caminos.

And I will fan them with a fan in the gates of the land; I will bereave [them] of children, I will destroy my people, [since] they return not from their ways.

8 Sus viudas aumentan más que la arena de los mares. He traído sobre ellos contra la madre de los jóvenes un destructor al mediodía. He hecho que la angustia y los terrores caigan sobre ella de repente.

Their widows are increased to me above the sand of the seas: I have brought upon them against the mother of the young men a spoiler at noonday: I have caused [him] to fall upon it suddenly, and terrors upon the city.

9 La que ha dado a luz a siete languidece. Ha renunciado al espíritu. Su sol se ha puesto cuando aún era de día. Se ha sentido decepcionada y confundida. Entregaré sus residuos a la espada ante sus enemigos”, dice Yahvé.

She that hath borne seven languisheth: she hath given up the ghost; her sun is gone down while [it was] yet day: she hath been ashamed and confounded: and the residue of them will I deliver to the sword before their enemies, saith the LORD.

10 ¡Ay de mí, madre mía, que me has dado a luz, un hombre conflictivo! ¡y un hombre de contención para toda la tierra! Yo no he prestado, ni los hombres me han prestado; pero cada uno de ellos me maldice.

Woe is me, my mother, that thou hast borne me a man of strife and a man of contention to the whole earth! I have neither lent on usury, nor men have lent to me on usury; [yet] every one of them doth curse me.

11 Yahvé dijo, “Ciertamente te fortaleceré para siempre. Ciertamente haré que el enemigo te suplique en el tiempo del mal y en el tiempo de aflicción.

The LORD said, Verily it shall be well with thy remnant; verily I will cause the enemy to entreat thee [well] in the time of evil and in the time of affliction.

12 Se puede romper el hierro, incluso el hierro del norte, y el bronce?

Shall iron break the northern iron and the steel?

13 Daré tus bienes y tus tesoros por un botín sin precio, y eso por todos sus pecados, incluso en todas sus fronteras.

Thy substance and thy treasures will I give to the spoil without price, and [that] for all thy sins, even in all thy borders.

14 Los haré pasar con tus enemigos a una tierra que no conoces; porque un fuego se enciende en mi ira, que arderá en ti”.

And I will make [thee] to pass with thine enemies into a land [which] thou knowest not: for a fire is kindled in mine anger, [which] shall burn upon you.

15 Yahvé, ya sabes. Recuérdame, visítame, y véngame de mis perseguidores. Eres paciente, así que no me lleves. Sabed que por vosotros he sufrido reproches.

O LORD, thou knowest: remember me, and visit me, and revenge me of my persecutors; take me not away in thy longsuffering: know that for thy sake I have suffered rebuke.

16 Sus palabras fueron encontradas, y me los comí. Tus palabras fueron para mí una alegría y el regocijo de mi corazón, porque me llaman por tu nombre, Yahvé, Dios de los Ejércitos.

Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.

17 No me senté en la asamblea de los que se alegran y se regocijan. Me senté solo por tu mano, porque me has llenado de indignación.

I sat not in the assembly of the mockers, nor rejoiced; I sat alone because of thy hand: for thou hast filled me with indignation.

18 Por qué mi dolor es perpetuo, y mi herida incurable, que se niega a ser curado? ¿Serás para mí como un arroyo engañoso, ¿como las aguas que fallan?

Why is my pain perpetual, and my wound incurable, [which] refuseth to be healed? wilt thou be altogether unto me as a liar, [and as] waters [that] fail?

19 Por eso dice Yahvé, “Si vuelves, entonces te traeré de nuevo, para que te presentes ante mí; y si sacas lo precioso de lo vil, serás como mi boca. Volverán a ti, pero no volverás a ellos.

Therefore thus saith the LORD, If thou return, then will I bring thee again, [and] thou shalt stand before me: and if thou take forth the precious from the vile, thou shalt be as my mouth: let them return unto thee; but return not thou unto them.

20 Haré de ti para este pueblo un muro de bronce fortificado. Lucharán contra ti, pero no prevalecerán contra ti; porque yo estoy con vosotros para salvaros y para liberarte”, dice Yahvé.

And I will make thee unto this people a fenced brasen wall: and they shall fight against thee, but they shall not prevail against thee: for I [am] with thee to save thee and to deliver thee, saith the LORD.

21 “Te libraré de la mano de los malvados, y te redimiré de la mano de los terribles”.

And I will deliver thee out of the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem thee out of the hand of the terrible.
