Isaías 50
1 Yahvé dice: “¿Dónde está la factura del divorcio de tu madre, con la que la he despedido? ¿O a cuál de mis acreedores te he vendido? He aquí que fuisteis vendidos por vuestras iniquidades, y tu madre fue apartada por tus transgresiones.
This is what the Lord says: Where's your mother's divorce certificate I gave her when I sent her away? Which of my creditors did I sell you to? Now look! You were sold because of your sins, and your mother was sent away because of your wrongdoing.
2 ¿Por qué, cuando llegué, no había nadie? Cuando llamé, ¿por qué no había nadie que respondiera? ¿Está mi mano acortada en absoluto, que no puede redimir? ¿O es que no tengo poder de entrega? He aquí que con mi reprimenda seco el mar. Hago de los ríos un desierto. Sus peces apestan porque no hay agua, y mueren de sed.
When I came, why wasn't anyone there? When I called, why didn't anyone answer? Is it because I don't have the strength to save you, or the power to rescue you? Can't you see that if I order it, the sea will dry up? I can turn rivers into a desert. Their fish stink because they've died of thirst since there's no water.
3 Yo visto los cielos con negrura. Hago de la arpillera su cobertura”.
I can make the heavens go dark, covering them with sackcloth like they're in mourning.
4 El Señor Yahvé me ha dado la lengua de los enseñados, para saber cómo sostener con palabras al que está cansado. Se despierta mañana a mañana, despierta mi oído para escuchar como los que son enseñados.
The Lord God has given me the ability to teach others, to know how to encourage those who are exhausted with a word. He wakes me up every morning; he helps me listen as a disciple.
5 El Señor Yahvé ha abierto mi oído. No era rebelde. No he dado marcha atrás.
The Lord God has instructed me, and I haven't been rebellious and I haven't turned away.
6 Le di la espalda a los que me golpearon, y mis mejillas a los que arrancaron el pelo. No escondí mi cara de vergüenza ni escupí.
I offered my back for people to beat me and my cheeks for people to pull my beard. I didn't hide my face from their mocking and spitting.
7 Porque el Señor Yahvé me ayudará. Por lo tanto, no me he confundido. Por eso he puesto mi cara como un pedernal, y sé que no me decepcionará.
The Lord God helps me, so I haven't been disgraced. That's why I'm so determined, setting my face hard as stone, knowing I won't be humiliated.
8 El que me justifica está cerca. ¿Quién presentará cargos contra mí? Levantémonos juntos. ¿Quién es mi adversario? Que se acerque a mí.
The one who vindicates me is close by, so who will bring charges against me? Let's stand to oppose one another! Come on, anyone who wants to accuse me!
9 ¡He aquí que el Señor Yahvé me ayudará! ¿Quién es el que me condenará? He aquí que todos envejecerán como un vestido. Las polillas se las comerán.
The Lord God defends me. Who is going to declare me guilty? Look! Those who try will fall apart like old clothing, eaten up by moths.
10 ¿Quién de vosotros teme a Yahvé? y obedece la voz de su siervo? El que camina en la oscuridad y no tiene luz, que confíe en el nombre de Yahvé, y confiar en su Dios.
Who among you respects the Lord and obeys what his servant says? Who among you walks in darkness and doesn't have light? Let them trust in the Lord and put their confidence in God.
11 Mirad, todos los que encendéis el fuego, que se adornan con antorchas a su alrededor, caminar en la llama de tu fuego, y entre las antorchas que has encendido. Tendrás esto de mi mano: te acostarás en la tristeza.
Beware all you who start a fire, who pick up blazing torches! Go ahead, walk in the light of your own fire and of the torches you yourselves have set alight! This is what you will receive from me: You are going to lie down in a place of suffering.
