Isaías 44
1 Pero escucha ahora, Jacob, mi siervo, e Israel, a quienes he elegido.
But now hear, Jacob my servant; and Israel, whom I have chosen.
2 Esto es lo que hace el Señor que te hizo, y te formó desde el vientre materno, que te ayudará dice: “No tengas miedo, Jacobo, mi siervo; y tú, Jeshurun, a quien he elegido.
Thus says the Lord God that made you, and he that formed you from the womb; You shall yet be helped: fear not, my servant Jacob; and beloved Israel, whom I have chosen.
3 Porque derramaré agua sobre el sediento, y arroyos en la tierra seca. Derramaré mi Espíritu sobre tus descendientes, y mi bendición sobre tu descendencia;
For I will give water to the thirsty that walk in a dry land: I will put my Spirit upon your seed, and my blessings upon your children:
4 y brotarán entre la hierba, como sauces junto a los cursos de agua.
and they shall spring up as grass between brooks, and as willows on [the banks of] running water.
5 Uno dirá: “Yo soy de Yahvé”. Otro será llamado con el nombre de Jacob; y otro escribirá con su mano ‘a Yahvé’. y honrar el nombre de Israel”.
One shall say, I am God's; and another shall call himself by the name of Jacob; and another shall write with his hand, I am God's, and shall call himself by the name of Israel.
6 Esto es lo que Yahvé, el Rey de Israel, y su Redentor, Yahvé de los Ejércitos, dice: “Soy el primero y soy el último; y además de mí no hay Dios.
Thus says God the King of Israel, and the God of hosts that delivered him; I am the first, and I am hereafter: beside me there is no God.
7 ¿Quién es como yo? Quién llamará, y lo declarará, y ponerlo en orden para mí, desde que establecí el pueblo antiguo? Que declaren las cosas que vienen, y eso sucederá.
Who is like me? let him stand, and call, and declare, and prepare for me from the time that I made man for ever; and let them tell you the things that are coming before they arrive.
8 No temas, ni tener miedo. ¿No te lo declaré hace tiempo? y se lo mostraron? Ustedes son mis testigos. ¿Existe un Dios aparte de mí? De hecho, no lo hay. No conozco ninguna otra Roca”.
Hide not yourselves, nor go astray: have you not heard from the beginning, and [have not] I told you? you are witnesses if there is a God beside me.
9 Todo el que hace una imagen tallada es vano. Las cosas en las que se deleitan no serán de provecho. Sus propios testigos no ven, ni saben, que pueden ser decepcionados.
But they that framed [false gods] did not then listen; and they that graved [images] are all vain, performing their own desires, which shall not profit them, but they shall be ashamed
10 Que ha creado un dios, o moldea una imagen que es rentable para nada?
that form a god, and all that grave worthless things:
11 He aquí que todos sus compañeros se verán defraudados; y los obreros son simples hombres. Que se reúnan todos. Que se pongan de pie. Tendrán miedo. Se pondrán en evidencia juntos.
and all by whom they were made are withered: yes, let all the deaf be gathered from [among] men, and let them stand together; and let them be ashamed and confounded together:
12 El herrero toma un hacha, trabaja en las brasas, lo hace con martillos, y lo trabaja con su fuerte brazo. Tiene hambre, y le fallan las fuerzas; no bebe agua, y es débil.
For the artificer sharpens the iron; he fashions [the idol] with an axe, and fixes it with an awl, and fashions it with the strength of his arm: and he will be hungry and weak, and will drink no water.
13 El carpintero extiende una línea. Lo marca con un lápiz. Le da forma con planos. Lo marca con brújulas, y le da la forma de la figura de un hombre, con la belleza de un hombre, residir en una casa.
The artificer having chosen a piece of wood, marks it out with a rule, and fits it with glue, and makes it as the form of a man, and as the beauty of a man, to set it up in the house.
14 Corta cedros para sí mismo, y toma el ciprés y el roble, y fortalece para sí uno entre los árboles del bosque. Planta un ciprés, y la lluvia la alimenta.
He cuts wood out of the forest, which the Lord planted, [even] a pine tree, and the rain made it grow,
15 Entonces será para un hombre que se queme; y toma un poco de ella y se calienta. Sí, lo quema y hornea el pan. Sí, hace un dios y lo adora; lo convierte en una imagen tallada, y cae ante ella.
that it might be for men to burn: and having taken part of it he warms himself; yes, they burn part of it, and bake loaves thereon; and [of] the rest they make for themselves gods, and they worship them.
16 Quema una parte en el fuego. Con parte de ella, come carne. Asa un asado y queda satisfecho. Sí, se calienta y dice: “¡Ah! Estoy caliente. He visto el fuego”.
Half thereof he burns in the fire, and with half of it he bakes loaves on the coals; and having roasted flesh on it he eats, and is satisfied, and having warmed himself he says, I am comfortable, for I have warmed myself, and have seen the fire.
17 El resto lo convierte en un dios, incluso su imagen grabada. Se inclina ante ella y la adora, y le reza, y dice: “¡Libérame, porque tú eres mi dios!”
And the rest he makes a graven god, and worships, and prays, saying, Deliver me; for you are my God.
18 No lo saben, ni lo consideran, porque les ha cerrado los ojos, para que no puedan ver, y sus corazones, que no pueden entender.
They have no understanding to perceive; for they have been blinded so that they should not see with their eyes, nor perceive with their heart.
19 Nadie piensa, ni hay conocimiento ni entendimiento para decir, “He quemado una parte en el fuego. Sí, también he horneado pan en sus brasas. He asado carne y la he comido. ¿Debo convertir el resto en una abominación? ¿Debo inclinarme ante un tronco de árbol?”
And one has not considered in his mind, nor known in his understanding, that he has burnt up half of it in the fire, and baked loaves on the coals thereof and has roasted and eaten flesh, and of the rest of it he has made an abomination, and they worship it.
20 Se alimenta de cenizas. Un corazón engañado lo ha desviado; y no puede entregar su alma, ni decir: “¿No hay una mentira en mi mano derecha?”
Know you that their heart is ashes, and they err, and no one is able to deliver his soul: see, you will not say, [There is a] lie in my right hand.
21 Recuerda estas cosas, Jacob e Israel, porque eres mi siervo. Yo te he formado. Eres mi sirviente. Israel, no serás olvidado por mí.
Remember these things, O Jacob and Israel; for you are my servant; I have formed you [to be] my servant: and do you, Israel, not forget me.
22 He borrado, como una nube espesa, tus transgresiones, y, como una nube, tus pecados. Vuelve a mí, porque te he redimido.
For behold, I have blotted out as a cloud your transgressions, and your sin as darkness: turn to me, and I will redeem you.
23 ¡Cantad, cielos, porque Yahvé lo ha hecho! ¡Gritad, partes bajas de la tierra! Rompan a cantar, ustedes montañas, oh bosque, todos sus árboles, porque Yahvé ha redimido a Jacob, y se glorificará en Israel.
Rejoice, you heavens; for God has had mercy upon Israel: sound the trumpet, you foundations of the earth: you mountains, shout [with] joy, you hills, and all the trees therein: for God has redeemed Jacob, and Israel shall be glorified.
24 Yahvé, tu Redentor, y el que te formó desde el vientre materno dice: “Yo soy Yahvé, que hace todas las cosas; que es el único que extiende los cielos; que extienda la tierra por mí mismo;
Thus says the Lord that redeems you, and who formed you from the womb, I am the Lord that performs all things: I stretched out the heaven alone, and established the earth.
25 que frustra las señales de los mentirosos, y vuelve locos a los adivinos; que hace retroceder a los sabios, y hace que su conocimiento sea tonto;
Who else will frustrate the tokens of those that have divining spirits, and prophecies from the heart of [man]? turning the wise back, and making their counsel foolishness;
26 que confirma la palabra de su siervo, y realiza el consejo de sus mensajeros; que dice de Jerusalén: “Estará habitada”. y de las ciudades de Judá: “Serán construidas”. y “levantaré sus despojos”.
and confirming the word of his servant, and verifying the counsel of his messengers: who says to Jerusalem, You shall be inhabited; and to the cities of Idumea, You shall be built, and her desert places shall spring forth.
27 que dice a las profundidades: “Sécate”. y “secaré tus ríos”.
Who says to the deep, You shall be dried up, and I will dry up the rivers.
28 que dice de Ciro: “Él es mi pastor y cumplirá todo lo que yo quiera”. incluso diciendo de Jerusalén, ‘Ella será construida;’ y del templo: “Se pondrán sus cimientos””.
Who bids Cyrus be wise, and he shall perform all my will: who says to Jerusalem, You shall be built, and I will lay the foundation of my holy house.
