Isaías 40
1 “Consuela, consuela a mi pueblo”, dice tu Dios.
Comfort ye, comfort ye, my people, Saith your God.
2 “Habla confortablemente a Jerusalén, y dile que su guerra está consumada, que su iniquidad está perdonada, que ha recibido de la mano de Yahvé el doble de todos sus pecados.”
Speak ye encouragement to Jerusalem, and declare to her, That her hard service is ended; That her iniquity is expiated; That she hath received from the hand of Jehovah Double for all her sins.
3 La voz de quien llama, “¡Preparen el camino de Yahvé en el desierto! Haz una carretera llana en el desierto para nuestro Dios.
A voice crieth: “Prepare ye in the wilderness the way of Jehovah; Make straight in the desert a highway for our God!
4 Todo valle será exaltado, y todo monte y colina será rebajado. Los desniveles se harán a nivel, y los lugares ásperos una llanura.
Every valley shall be exalted, And every mountain and hill be made low; The crooked shall become straight, And the rough places plain.
5 La gloria de Yahvé se revelará, y toda la carne la verá junta; porque la boca de Yahvé lo ha dicho”.
For the glory of Jehovah shall be revealed, And all flesh shall see it together; For the mouth of Jehovah hath spoken it!”
6 La voz de uno que dice: “¡Grita!” Uno dijo: “¿Qué voy a llorar?” “Toda la carne es como la hierba, y toda su gloria es como la flor del campo.
A voice said, Proclaim! And I said, What shall I proclaim? All flesh is grass, And all its comeliness as the flower of the field.
7 La hierba se marchita, la flor se desvanece, porque el aliento de Yahvé sopla sobre ella. Seguramente la gente es como la hierba.
The grass withereth, the flower fadeth, When the breath of Jehovah bloweth upon it. Truly the people is grass.
8 La hierba se seca, la flor se desvanece; pero la palabra de nuestro Dios permanece para siempre”.
The grass withereth, the flower fadeth, But the word of our God shall stand forever.
9 Tú, que das buenas noticias a Sión, sube a un monte alto. Tú, que das buenas noticias a Jerusalén, levanta tu voz con fuerza. ¡Levántalo! ¡No tengas miedo! Di a las ciudades de Judá: “¡Contempla a tu Dios!”
Get thee up on the high mountain, O thou that bringest glad tidings to Zion; Lift up thy voice with strength, thou that bringest glad tidings to Jerusalem; Lift it up; be not afraid; Say to the cities of Judah, Behold your God!
10 He aquí que el Señor Yahvé vendrá como un poderoso, y su brazo gobernará por él. He aquí que su recompensa está con él, y su recompensa ante él.
Behold, the Lord Jehovah shall come with might, And his arm shall rule for him; Behold, his reward is with him, And his recompense before him.
11 Alimentará su rebaño como un pastor. Recogerá los corderos en su brazo, y llevarlos en su seno. Guiará suavemente a los que tienen sus crías.
He shall feed his flock like a shepherd; He shall gather up the lambs in his arms, And carry them in his bosom, And gently lead the nursing ewes.
12 Que ha medido las aguas en el hueco de su mano, y marcó el cielo con su palmo, y calculó el polvo de la tierra en una cesta de medición, y pesaba las montañas en balanzas, y las colinas en una balanza?
Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, And meted out the heavens with his span, And gathered the dust of the earth into a measure, And weighed the mountains in scales, And the hills in a balance?
13 Que ha dirigido el Espíritu de Yahvé, o le ha enseñado como su consejero?
Who hath searched out the spirit of Jehovah, Or, being his counsellor, hath taught him?
14 Con quién se asesoró, y que lo instruyó, y le enseñó el camino de la justicia, y le enseñó el conocimiento, y le mostró el camino del entendimiento?
With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, And taught him the path of justice, And taught him knowledge, And showed him the way of understanding?
15 He aquí que las naciones son como una gota en un cubo, y son considerados como una mota de polvo en una balanza. He aquí que levanta las islas como una cosa muy pequeña.
Behold, the nations are as a drop from a bucket, And are accounted as the small dust of the balance; Behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing,
16 Líbano no es suficiente para quemar, ni sus animales suficientes para un holocausto.
And Lebanon is not sufficient for fire, Nor its beasts for a burnt-offering.
17 Todas las naciones son como nada ante él. Son considerados por él como menos que nada, y vanidad.
All the nations are as nothing before him; They are accounted by him as less than nothing, and vanity.
18 ¿A quién, pues, vas a comparar a Dios? ¿O con qué semejanza se le comparará?
To whom then will ye liken God, And what likeness will ye compare unto him?
19 Un obrero ha fundido una imagen, y el orfebre lo recubre de oro, y le echa cadenas de plata.
The workman casteth an image, And the smith overlayeth it with gold, And casteth for it silver chains.
20 El que está demasiado empobrecido para una ofrenda así, elige un árbol que no se pudra. Busca a un hábil obrero para que le instale una imagen tallada que no se mueva.
He that is too poor to make an oblation Chooseth a piece of wood that will not rot; He seeketh for himself a skilful artificer, To prepare an image that shall not be moved.
21 ¿No lo sabías? ¿No te has enterado? ¿No te lo han dicho desde el principio? ¿No has entendido desde los cimientos de la tierra?
Do ye not know? Have ye not heard? Hath it not been declared to you from the beginning? Have ye not considered the foundations of the earth?
22 Es el que se sienta sobre el círculo de la tierra, y sus habitantes son como saltamontes; que extiende los cielos como una cortina, y los extiende como una tienda para habitar,
It is He that sitteth above the circle of the earth, And the inhabitants are to him as grasshoppers; That stretcheth out the heavens as a canopy, And spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in;
23 que lleva a los príncipes a la nada, que hace que los jueces de la tierra no tengan sentido.
That bringeth princes to nothing, And reduceth the rulers of the earth to vanity.
24 Se plantan apenas. Están sembrados apenas. Sus acciones apenas han echado raíces en el suelo. Simplemente sopla sobre ellos y se marchitan, y el torbellino se los lleva como rastrojos.
Yea, scarcely are they planted, scarcely are they sown, Scarcely hath their stem taken root in the ground, When He bloweth upon them and they wither, And the whirlwind beareth them away like stubble.
25 “¿A quién, pues, me compararéis? ¿Quién es mi igual?”, dice el Santo.
To whom then will ye liken me, And to whom shall I be compared? Saith the Holy One.
26 Levanta tus ojos a lo alto, y ver quién las ha creado, que saca su ejército por número. Los llama a todos por su nombre. por la grandeza de su poderío, y porque es fuerte en el poder, no falta ni uno.
Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and behold! Who hath created these? He draweth forth their host by number, He calleth them all by name; Through the greatness of his strength and the mightiness of his power, Not one of them faileth to appear.
27 ¿Por qué dices, Jacob, y habla, Israel, “Mi camino está oculto a Yahvé, ¿y la justicia que me corresponde es despreciada por mi Dios?”
Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, “My way is hidden from Jehovah, My cause passeth by before my God”?
28 ¿No lo sabías? ¿No te has enterado? El Dios eterno, Yahvé, el Creador de los confines de la tierra, no desmaya. No está cansado. Su entendimiento es inescrutable.
Do ye not know? Have ye not heard? Jehovah is an everlasting God, The creator of the ends of the earth; He fainteth not, nor is he weary; His understanding is unsearchable.
29 Él da poder a los débiles. Aumenta la fuerza del que no tiene fuerza.
He giveth power to the faint; To the feeble abundant strength.
30 Incluso los jóvenes desfallecen y se cansan, y los jóvenes caen por completo;
The youths shall faint and be weary, And the young warriors shall utterly fall.
31 pero los que esperan a Yahvé renovarán sus fuerzas. Se alzarán con alas como águilas. Correrán y no se cansarán. Caminarán y no desfallecerán.
But they that trust in Jehovah shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles; They shall run and not be weary; They shall walk and not faint.
