Isaías 31

1 Ay de los que bajan a Egipto en busca de ayuda, y dependen de los caballos, y confía en los carros porque son muchos, y en los jinetes porque son muy fuertes, pero no miran al Santo de Israel, y no buscan a Yahvé.

Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and rely on horses, and trust in chariots, because [they are] many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not to the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD!

2 Pero él también es sabio, y traerá el desastre, y no retirará sus palabras, sino que se levantará contra la casa de los malhechores, y contra la ayuda de los que obran la iniquidad.

Yet he also [is] wise, and will bring evil, and will not call back his words: but will arise against the house of the evil-doers, and against the help of them that work iniquity.

3 Los egipcios son hombres y no Dios; y sus caballos carne, y no espíritu. Cuando Yahvé extienda su mano, tanto el que ayuda como el que no, tropezará, y el que sea ayudado caerá, y todos ellos serán consumidos juntos.

Now the Egyptians [are] men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not spirit. When the LORD shall stretch out his hand, both he that helpeth shall fall, and he that is helped shall fall down, and they all shall fail together.

4 Porque Yahvé me dice, “Como el león y el joven león gruñendo sobre su presa, si se convoca una multitud de pastores contra él, no se desanimará ante su voz, ni rebajarse por su ruido, por lo que Yahvé de los Ejércitos bajará a luchar en el monte Sión y en sus alturas.

For thus hath the LORD spoken to me, As the lion and the young lion roaring on his prey, when a multitude of shepherds is called forth against him, [he] will not be afraid of their voice, nor abase himself for the noise of them: so will the LORD of hosts come down to fight for mount Zion, and for the hill thereof.

5 Como las aves que revolotean, así protegerá el Señor de los Ejércitos a Jerusalén. Él lo protegerá y lo entregará. Pasará por encima y lo preservará”.

As birds flying, so will the LORD of hosts defend Jerusalem; defending also he will deliver [it]; [and] passing over he will preserve [it].

6 Volved a aquel de quien os habéis rebelado profundamente, hijos de Israel.

Turn ye to [him from] whom the children of Israel have deeply revolted.

7 Porque en aquel día cada uno se deshará de sus ídolos de plata y de sus ídolos de oro, pecado que vuestras propias manos han hecho para vosotros.

For in that day every man shall cast away his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which your own hands have made to you [for] a sin.

8 “El asirio caerá por la espada, no por el hombre; y la espada, no de la humanidad, lo devorará. Huirá de la espada, y sus jóvenes serán sometidos a trabajos forzados.

Then shall the Assyrian fall with the sword, not of a mighty man; and the sword, not of a mean man, shall devour him: but he shall flee from the sword, and his young men shall be discomfited.

9 Su roca desaparecerá a causa del terror, y sus príncipes tendrán miedo del estandarte”. dice Yahvé, cuyo fuego está en Sión, y su horno en Jerusalén.

And he shall pass over to his strong hold for fear, and his princes shall be afraid of the ensign, saith the LORD, whose fire [is] in Zion, and his furnace in Jerusalem.
