Isaías 29
1 ¡Ay de Ariel! ¡Ariel, la ciudad donde acampó David! Añade año a año; que vengan las fiestas;
Alas for Ariel, Ariel, The city against which, David encamped, —Add ye a year to a year. Let the festivals, come round;
2 entonces afligiré a Ariel, y habrá luto y lamentación. Ella será para mí como el hogar de un altar.
Yet will I bring Ariel into straits, —And she shall become a bewailing and wailing, Yea she shall become to me a veritable Hearth of God.
3 Acamparé contra ti a tu alrededor y te sitiaré con tropas apostadas. Levantaré contra ti obras de asedio.
And I will encamp round about against thee, —And lay siege against thee with a fort, And raise against thee siege-works;
4 Serás derribado y hablarás desde la tierra. Tu discurso será un murmullo del polvo. Tu voz será como la de un espíritu familiar, desde la tierra, y tu discurso susurrará desde el polvo.
And thou shalt be brought low—Out of the earth, shalt thou speak, And out of the dust, shalt thou lower thine utterance, —And as one that hath a familiar spirit, Out of the earth, shall come thy voice, And out of the dust, thy speech shall chirp;
5 Pero la multitud de tus enemigos será como polvo fino, y la multitud de los despiadados como paja que se desvanece. Sí, será en un instante, de repente.
Then shall be as fine dust the multitude of thy foreigners, —And as chaff that passeth away, the multitude of tyrants; And it shall come to pass, in a twinkling, Suddenly,
6 Será visitada por el Señor de los Ejércitos con truenos, con terremotos, con gran ruido, con torbellino y tormenta, y con la llama de un fuego devorador.
From Yahweh of hosts, shalt thou be visited, With thunder, and with earthquake and a great noise, hurricane and storm and flame of fire devouring;
7 La multitud de todas las naciones que luchan contra Ariel, todos los que luchan contra ella y su fortaleza, y que la angustian, será como un sueño, una visión de la noche.
And it shall be like the dream of a night vision, With the multitude of all the nations who have been making war against Ariel, —Even with all who have been making war against her and her stronghold and who have been laying siege to her;
8 Será como cuando un hombre hambriento sueña, y he aquí que come; pero se despierta, y su hambre no está satisfecha; o como cuando un hombre sediento sueña, y he aquí que bebe; pero se despierta, y he aquí que está desfallecido, y todavía tiene sed. Así será la multitud de todas las naciones que luchan contra el monte Sión.
Yea it shall be As when the hungry man dreameth and lo! he is eating, But he awaketh, and his soul, is empty, Or as when the thirsty man dreameth and lo! he is drinking, But he awaketh and lo! he is faint and his soul, is craving, So, shall it be with the multitude of all the nations, that have come forth to war against Mount Zion.
9 ¡Parad y preguntad! ¡Cegad y sed ciegos! Están ebrios, pero no de vino; se tambalean, pero no de bebida fuerte.
Stand ye stock still and stare, Besmear your eyes and be blind, —They are drunken but not with wine, They reel, but not with strong drink;
10 Porque el Señor ha derramado sobre ustedes un espíritu de sueño profundo, y ha cerrado sus ojos, los profetas, y ha cubierto sus cabezas, los videntes.
For Yahweh, hath poured out upon you, a spirit of deep sleep, Yea hath tightly shut your eyes—the prophets, —And, your heads—the seers, hath he covered,
11 Toda visión se ha vuelto para ustedes como las palabras de un libro sellado, que los hombres entregan a uno instruido, diciéndole: “Lee esto, por favor”; y él dice: “No puedo, porque está sellado”;
And so all vision hath become unto you as the words of a writing that is sealed, Which is delivered unto one acquainted with writing, saying, Pray thee read this, And he saith, I cannot, for it is sealed;
12 y el libro se entrega a uno no instruido, diciéndole: “Lee esto, por favor”; y él dice: “No puedo leer”.
And then the writing is delivered to one unacquainted with writing, saying, Pray thee read this, And he saith I am not acquainted with writing.
13 El Señor dijo: “Porque este pueblo se acerca con su boca y me honra con sus labios, pero ha alejado su corazón de mí, y su temor a mí es un mandamiento de hombres que ha sido enseñado;
Wherefore My Lord hath said, —Because this people, hath drawn near with their mouth, And with their lips, have honoured me, But their heart, have they moved far from me, And so their reverence of me hath become A commandment of men in which they have been schooled,
14 por lo tanto, he aquí que procederé a hacer una obra maravillosa en este pueblo, una obra maravillosa y un prodigio; y la sabiduría de sus sabios perecerá, y el entendimiento de sus prudentes se ocultará.”
Therefore, behold me! again dealing wonderfully with this people, doing wonderfully a wonderful thing, —So shall perish, the wisdom of their wise men, And the intelligence of their intelligent men, shall vanish!
15 Ay de los que ocultan profundamente su consejo a Yahvé, y cuyas obras están en la oscuridad, y que dicen: “¿Quién nos ve?” y “¿Quién nos conoce?”
Alas! for them who would fain have been too deep for Yahweh by giving secret counsel, —and therefore in the dark, have been their doings, and they have said Who can see us? and—Who can understand us?
16 ¡Ustedes ponen las cosas al revés! ¿Acaso el alfarero debe ser considerado como el barro, para que la cosa hecha diga de quien la hizo: “Él no me hizo”; o la cosa formada diga de quien la formó: “Él no tiene entendimiento”?
Your perverseness! As if like clay, the potter could be reckoned; For shall, the thing made say of him that made it, he made me not? Or hath the thing fashioned ever said of him that fashioned it, He hath no understanding.
17 ¿No es todavía muy poco tiempo, y el Líbano se convertirá en un campo fructífero, y el campo fructífero será considerado como un bosque?
Is it not yet a very little while, And Lebanon shall be turned, into garden land, —And garden land, for a forest, be reckoned?
18 En aquel día, los sordos oirán las palabras del libro, y los ojos de los ciegos verán desde la oscuridad y desde las tinieblas.
Therefore, in that day, shall the deaf hear the words of a book, —And out of gloom and darkness, the eyes of the blind shall see;
19 También los humildes aumentarán su alegría en Yahvé, y los pobres entre los hombres se alegrarán en el Santo de Israel.
And again shall the humbled in Yahweh, have joy, —And the needy of mankind in the Holy One of Israel, exult;
20 Porque el despiadado queda reducido a la nada, y el burlón cesa, y todos los que están alertas para hacer el mal son cortados —
For the tyrant, hath vanished, And the scoffer, is no more, Yea cut off are all who watch for iniquity: —
21 que hacen que una persona sea acusada por una palabra, y ponen una trampa al que reprende en la puerta, y que privan al inocente de la justicia con un testimonio falso.
Who bring a man into condemnation with a rumour, And for him that decideth in the gate, lay a snare, —And have driven away, for a thing of nought, one who was righteous.
22 Por eso Yahvé, que redimió a Abraham, dice respecto a la casa de Jacob: “Jacob ya no se avergonzará, ni su rostro palidecerá.
Therefore, Thus, saith Yahweh, concerning the house of Jacob, [even he saith it] who redeemed Abraham, —Not now, shall, Jacob turn pale, And, not now, shall their faces whiten;
23 Pero cuando vea a sus hijos, obra de mis manos, en medio de él, santificarán mi nombre. Sí, santificarán al Santo de Jacob, y se pondrán a temer al Dios de Israel.
For, when he seeth his children the work of my hands, in his midst, They will hallow my Name, —Yea they will hallow the Holy One of Jacob, And the God of Israel, will they regard with awe.
24 Tambiénlos que se equivocan de espíritu llegarán al entendimiento, y los que refunfuñan recibirán instrucción.”
Then will they who erred in spirit comprehend, And the murmurers, accept instruction.
