Isaías 28
1 ¡Ay de la corona de orgullo de los borrachos de Efraín, y de la flor marchita de su gloriosa belleza, que está en la cabeza del fértil valle de los que se dejan vencer por el vino!
Woe to the proud crown of the drunkards of Ephraim, To the fading flower, his glorious beauty, At the head of the rich valley of a people stupefied with wine.
2 He aquí que el Señor tiene uno que es poderoso y fuerte. Como una tormenta de granizo, una tormenta destructora, y como una tormenta de aguas poderosas que se desbordan, los arrojará a la tierra con su mano.
Behold a strong, a mighty one from the Lord Like a storm of hail, like a destructive tempest, Like a flood of mighty, overflowing waters, With violence shall dash it to the ground.
3 La corona de orgullo de los borrachos de Efraín será pisoteada.
It shall be trodden under foot, The proud crown of the drunkards of Ephraim.
4 La flor marchita de su gloriosa belleza, que está en la cabeza del valle fértil, será como el higo de primera maduración antes del verano, que alguien recoge y come en cuanto lo ve.
And the fading flower, their glorious beauty, At the head of the rich valley, Shall be as the early fig before the time of harvest, Which whoso seeth plucketh immediately, And swalloweth as soon as it is in his hand.
5 En ese día, el Señor de los Ejércitos se convertirá en una corona de gloria y en una diadema de belleza para el resto de su pueblo,
In that day shall Jehovah of hosts Be a glorious crown, and a beautiful diadem to the residue of his people;
6 y en un espíritu de justicia para el que se sienta a juzgar, y en fuerza para los que hacen retroceder la batalla en la puerta.
A spirit of judgment to him that sitteth in judgment, And of strength to them that drive back the enemy to their gates.
7 También se tambalean con el vino, y se tambalean con la bebida fuerte. El sacerdote y el profeta se tambalean con la bebida fuerte. El vino se los tragó. Se tambalean con la bebida fuerte. Se equivocan en la visión. Tropiezan en el juicio.
But even these stagger through wine, And reel through strong drink; The priest and the prophet stagger through strong drink; They are overpowered with wine; They stumble through strong drink; They reel in vision, They stagger in judgment.
8 Porque todas las mesas están completamente llenas de vómito e inmundicia.
For all their tables are full of filthy vomit, So that there is no place clean.
9 ¿A quién le enseñará el conocimiento? ¿A quiénes les explicará el mensaje? ¿A los que han sido destetados de la leche y sacados de los pechos?
“Whom,” say they, “will he teach knowledge, And to whom will he impart instruction? To the weaned from the milk? To those just taken from the breast?
10 Porque es precepto sobre precepto, precepto sobre precepto; línea sobre línea, línea sobre línea; aquí un poco, allí un poco.
For it is precept upon precept, precept upon precept, Command upon command, command upon command, A little here, and a little there.”
11 Pero hablará a esta nación de labios tartamudos y en otra lengua,
Yea, with stammering lips and a strange tongue He shall indeed speak to this people;
12 a la que dijo: “Este es el lugar de descanso. Da descanso al cansado” y “Este es el refrigerio”; pero no quisieron escuchar.
He that said to them, “This is the way of rest, give rest to the weary; This is the way of safety”; But they would not hear.
13 Por lo tanto, la palabra de Yahvé será para ellos precepto sobre precepto, precepto sobre precepto; línea sobre línea, línea sobre línea; aquí un poco, allí un poco; para que vayan, caigan de espaldas, sean quebrantados, atrapados y tomados.
Then shall the word of Jehovah be indeed to them “Precept upon precept, precept upon precept, Command upon command, command upon command, A little here, and a little there,” So that they shall go on, and fall backwards, and be broken, And be snared and caught.
14 Escuchen, pues, la palabra de Yahvé, burlones, que gobiernan a este pueblo en Jerusalén:
Wherefore hear ye the word of Jehovah, Ye scoffers, who rule this people in Jerusalem!
15 “Porque ustedes han dicho: ‘Hemos hecho un pacto con la muerte, y estamos de acuerdo con el Seol. Cuando pase el azote desbordante, no vendrá a nosotros; porque hemos hecho de la mentira nuestro refugio, y nos hemos escondido bajo la mentira.’” (Sheol h7585)
Since ye say, “We have entered into a covenant with death, And with the under-world have we made an agreement, The overflowing scourge, when it passeth through, shall not reach us; For we have made falsehood our refuge, And in deceit we have hidden ourselves.” (Sheol h7585)
16 Por eso dice el Señor Yahvé: “He aquí que pongo en Sión como fundamento una piedra, una piedra probada, una piedra angular preciosa de fundamento seguro. El que crea no actuará precipitadamente.
Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I have laid in Zion as a foundation a stone, A tried stone, a precious corner-stone, a sure foundation; He that trusteth shall not flee away.
17 Haré que la justicia sea la línea de medida, y la rectitud la línea de plomada. El granizo barrerá el refugio de la mentira, y las aguas desbordarán el escondite.
I will make justice a line, And righteousness a plummet, And the hail shall sweep away the refuge of falsehood, And the waters shall overwhelm its hiding-place;
18 Tu pacto con la muerte será anulado, y tu acuerdo con el Seol no se mantendrá. Cuando pase el azote desbordante, entonces serás pisoteado por él. (Sheol h7585)
And your covenant with death shall be broken, And your agreement with the under-world shall not stand; When the overflowing scourge shall pass through, By it shall ye be beaten down. (Sheol h7585)
19 Todas las veces que pase, te apresará; porque de mañana a mañana pasará, de día y de noche; y no será más que terror entender el mensaje”.
As often as it passeth through, it shall bear you away; For every morning shall it pass through, By day and by night; Even to hear the rumor of it shall be terrible.
20 Porque el lecho es demasiado corto para extenderse, y la manta es demasiado estrecha para envolverse en ella.
Yea, the bed is too short for one to stretch himself on it, And the covering too narrow for one to wrap himself in it.
21 Porque Yahvé se levantará como en el monte Perazim. Se enfurecerá como en el valle de Gabaón; para hacer su obra, su insólita obra, y llevar a cabo su acto, su extraordinario acto.
For Jehovah will rise up, as in mount Perazim; He will be moved with anger, as in the valley of Gibeon, To perform his act, his strange act, And to execute his work, his strange work.
22 Ahora, pues, no sean burlones, para que no se fortalezcan sus ataduras; porque he oído un decreto de destrucción de parte del Señor, Yahvé de los Ejércitos, sobre toda la tierra.
Now, therefore, be ye no longer scoffers, Lest your bands become stronger; For destruction and punishment have been revealed to me From Jehovah of hosts concerning the whole land!
23 ¡Escuchen y oigan mi voz! ¡Escuchen, y oigan mi discurso!
Give ear, and listen to my voice, Attend, and hearken to my words!
24 ¿Acaso el que ara para sembrar lo hace continuamente? ¿Acaso no revuelve la tierra y rompe los terrones?
Is the ploughman always ploughing in order to sow? Is he always opening and harrowing his field?
25 Cuando ha nivelado su superficie, ¿no planta el eneldo y esparce la semilla de comino, y coloca el trigo en hileras, la cebada en el lugar señalado y la escanda en su sitio?
When he hath made the face thereof even, Doth he not then scatter the dill, and cast abroad the cumin, And sow the wheat in rows, And the barley in its appointed place, And the spelt in his border?
26 Porque su Dios le instruye en el recto juicio y le enseña.
Thus his God rightly instructeth him, And giveth him knowledge.
27 Porque el eneldo no se trilla con instrumento afilado, ni se hace girar una rueda de carro sobre el comino; sino que el eneldo se golpea con un palo, y el comino con una vara.
The dill is not beaten out with the thrashing-sledge, Nor is the wheel of the wain rolled over the cumin; But the dill is beaten out with a staff, And the cumin with a rod.
28 La harina de pan debe ser molida, por lo que no siempre estará trillando. Aunque pase la rueda de su carro de trillar sobre ella, sus caballos no la muelen.
Bread-corn is beaten out, Yet doth not the husbandman thrash it without limit. He driveth over it the wheels of the wain, And the horses, yet doth he not utterly crush it.
29 Esto también sale de Yahvé de los Ejércitos, que es maravilloso en el consejo, y excelente en la sabiduría.
This also proceedeth from Jehovah of hosts; He is wonderful in counsel, Excellent in wisdom.
