Isaías 18

1 Ah, la tierra del susurro de las alas, que está más allá de los ríos de Etiopía;

Woe to the land with spreading wings, which is beyond the rivers of Cush,

2 que envía embajadores por el mar, incluso en embarcaciones de papiro sobre las aguas, diciendo: “¡Vayan, veloces mensajeros, a una nación alta y suave, a un pueblo imponente desde su comienzo, una nación que mide y pisa, cuya tierra dividen los ríos!”

That sendeth on the sea ambassadors, and in vessels of bulrushes messengers over the face of the waters. Go, ye swift messengers, to a nation pulled and torn, to a people terrible from their beginning and onward; a nation meted out and trodden down, whose land the rivers have spoiled!

3 Todos vosotros, habitantes del mundo, y habitantes de la tierra, cuando se levante un estandarte en los montes, ¡mirad! Cuando se toque la trompeta, ¡escuchad!

All ye inhabitants of the world, and dwellers on the earth, when the ensign is lifted up on the mountains, see ye; and when the cornet is blown, hear ye.

4 Porque el Señor me dijo: “Estaré quieto, y veré en mi morada, como un calor claro en el sol, como una nube de rocío en el calor de la cosecha.”

For so hath said the Lord unto me, I will take my rest, and I will look down on my dwelling-place like a clear heat upon herbs, and like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest.

5 Porque antes de la cosecha, cuando se acabe la floración y la flor se convierta en una uva madura, cortará las ramitas con podaderas, y cortará y quitará las ramas extendidas.

For before the harvest, when the blossom is past, and the flower becometh a ripening grape, will he both cut off the tendrils with pruning-knives, and the sprigs will he remove and cut down.

6 Las dejará juntas para las aves voraces de las montañas y para los animales de la tierra. Las aves voraces las comerán en el verano, y todos los animales de la tierra las comerán en el invierno.

They shall be left together unto the birds of prey of the mountains, and to the beasts of the earth: and the birds of prey shall summer upon them, and all the beasts of the earth shall winter upon them.

7 En aquel tiempo se traerá a Yahvé de los Ejércitos un presente de un pueblo alto y liso, de un pueblo imponente desde su principio, una nación que mide y pisa, cuya tierra dividen los ríos, hasta el lugar del nombre de Yahvé de los Ejércitos, el monte Sión.

At that time shall be brought as a present unto the Lord of hosts a people pulled and torn, and a people terrible from their beginning and onward; a nation meted out and trodden under foot, whose land the rivers have spoiled, to the place of the name of the Lord of hosts, the mount Zion.
