Isaías 17
1 La carga de Damasco. “He aquí que Damasco ha dejado de ser una ciudad, y será un montón de ruinas.
The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.
2 Las ciudades de Aroer están abandonadas. Serán para los rebaños, que se acostarán, y nadie los hará temer.
The cities of Aroer are forsaken: they shall be for flocks, which shall lie down, and none shall make them afraid.
3 Cesará la fortaleza de Efraín, el reino de Damasco y el resto de Siria. Serán como la gloria de los hijos de Israel”, dice el Señor de los Ejércitos.
The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria; they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith the LORD of hosts.
4 “Sucederá en ese día que la gloria de Jacob se adelgazará, y la gordura de su carne se volverá flaca.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the glory of Jacob shall be made thin, and the fatness of his flesh shall wax lean.
5 Será como cuando el cosechador recoge el trigo, y su brazo siega el grano. Sí, será como cuando uno espiga el grano en el valle de Refaim.
And it shall be as when the harvestman gathereth the standing corn, and his arm reapeth the ears; yea, it shall be as when one gleaneth ears in the valley of Rephaim.
6 Pero allí quedarán espigas, como el temblor de un olivo, dos o tres aceitunas en la copa de la rama más alta, cuatro o cinco en las ramas más externas de un árbol fructífero”, dice Yahvé, el Dios de Israel.
Yet there shall be left therein gleanings, as the shaking of an olive tree, two or three berries in the top of the uppermost bough, four or five in the outmost branches of a fruitful tree, saith the LORD, the God of Israel.
7 En ese día, la gente mirará a su Hacedor, y sus ojos tendrán respeto por el Santo de Israel.
In that day shall a man look unto his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel.
8 No mirarán a los altares, obra de sus manos, ni respetarán lo que hicieron sus dedos, ni los postes de Asera ni los altares de incienso.
And he shall not look to the altars, the work of his hands, neither shall he have respect to that which his fingers have made, either the Asherim, or the sun-images.
9 En aquel día, sus ciudades fuertes serán como los lugares abandonados en los bosques y en la cima del monte, que fueron abandonados desde antes de los hijos de Israel; y será una desolación.
In that day shall his strong cities be as the forsaken places in the wood and on the mountain top, which were forsaken from before the children of Israel: and it shall be a desolation.
10 Porque os habéis olvidado del Dios de vuestra salvación, y no os habéis acordado de la roca de vuestra fortaleza. Por eso plantáis plantas agradables, y ponéis semilleros extraños.
For thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation, and hast not been mindful of the rock of thy strength; therefore thou plantest pleasant plants, and settest it with strange slips:
11 El día de tu siembra, la cercas. Por la mañana haces florecer tu semilla, pero la cosecha huye en el día de la aflicción y del dolor desesperado.
In the day of thy planting thou hedgest it in, and in the morning thou makest thy seed to blossom: but the harvest fleeth away in the day of grief and of desperate sorrow.
12 ¡Ah, el alboroto de muchos pueblos que rugen como el bramido de los mares; y la carrera de las naciones que se precipitan como la carrera de las aguas impetuosas!
Ah, the uproar of many peoples, which roar like the roaring of the seas; and the rushing of nations, that rush like the rushing of mighty waters!
13 Las naciones se precipitarán como el estruendo de muchas aguas, pero él las reprenderá, y huirán lejos, y serán perseguidas como el tamo de los montes ante el viento, y como el polvo que se arremolina ante la tempestad.
The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters: but he shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off, and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like the whirling dust before the storm.
14 Al atardecer, ¡he aquí el terror! Antes de la mañana, ya no existen. Esta es la porción de los que nos saquean, y la suerte de los que nos roban.
At eventide behold terror; [and] before the morning they are not. This is the portion of them that spoil us, and the lot of them that rob us.
