Oseas 4

1 Escuchen la palabra de Yahvé, hijos de Israel, porque Yahvé tiene una acusación contra los habitantes de la tierra: “En efecto, no hay verdad, ni bondad, ni el conocimiento de Dios en la tierra.

Hear the word of Jehovah, ye sons of Israel! For Jehovah hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land; For there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.

2 Hay maldiciones, mentiras, asesinatos, robos y adulterios; rompen los límites, y el derramamiento de sangre provoca el derramamiento de sangre.

Perjury, and falsehood, and murder, And theft, and adultery have broken forth, And blood reacheth to blood.

3 Por lo tanto, la tierra estará de luto, y todo el que habite en ella se consumirá, con todos los seres vivos en ella, incluso los animales del campo y las aves del cielo; Sí, los peces del mar también mueren.

Therefore shall the land mourn, And every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, Together with the beasts of the forest, and the birds of heaven; Yea, even the fishes of the sea shall perish.

4 “Pero que nadie presente una acusación, ni que nadie acuse; porque tu pueblo es como los que acusan a un sacerdote.

Yet let no man rebuke, and let no man reprove; For thy people are like those that contend with the priest,

5 En el día tropezarás, y el profeta también tropezará contigo en la noche; y destruiré a tu madre.

Therefore shalt thou Fall by day, And the prophet shall fall with thee by night, And I will destroy thy mother.

6 Mi pueblo es destruido por falta de conocimiento. Porque has rechazado el conocimiento, yo también te rechazaré, para que no seas un sacerdote para mí. Porque has olvidado la ley de tu Dios, También olvidaré a sus hijos.

My people is destroyed for lack of knowledge; Since thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, so that thou shalt no more be my priest; Since thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I also will forget thy children.

7 Como se multiplicaron, así pecaron contra mí. Cambiaré su gloria en vergüenza.

As they have become great, so have they sinned against me; I will change their glory into shame.

8 Se alimentan del pecado de mi pueblo, y ponen su corazón en su iniquidad.

They feed upon the sins of my people, And incline their hearts to their iniquity.

9 Será como la gente, como el sacerdote; y los castigaré por sus caminos, y les pagará por sus actos.

And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; I will punish them for their ways, And requite them for their doings.

10 Comerán y no tendrán suficiente. Harán de prostituta, y no aumentarán; porque han dejado de escuchar a Yahvé.

They shall eat and shall not be satisfied; They shall commit fornication, and shall not increase, For they have left off giving heed to Jehovah.

11 La prostitución, el vino y el vino nuevo quitan el entendimiento.

Fornication and wine and new wine take away the understanding;

12 Mi pueblo consulta con su ídolo de madera, y responder a un palo de madera. En efecto, el espíritu de la prostitución les ha llevado por el mal camino, y han sido infieles a su Dios.

My people ask counsel of their stocks, And their staff revealeth to them. For the spirit of fornication causeth them to err; Yea, they commit fornication, forsaking their God.

13 Sacrifican en las cimas de las montañas, y quemar incienso en las colinas, bajo las encinas, los álamos y los terebintales, porque su sombra es buena. Por lo tanto, sus hijas hacen el papel de prostituta, y tus novias cometen adulterio.

On the tops of the mountains they sacrifice, And on the hills they burn incense, Under the oak, and the poplar, and the terebinth, Because their shade is pleasant. Therefore your daughters commit fornication, And your daughters-in-law commit adultery;

14 No castigaré a tus hijas cuando jueguen a la prostitución, ni a sus novias cuando cometen adulterio; porque los hombres se prostituyen, y sacrifican con las prostitutas del santuario; por lo que la gente sin entendimiento llegará a la ruina.

I will not punish your daughters, when they commit fornication, Nor your daughters-in-law, when they commit adultery; For ye yourselves go aside with harlots, And sacrifice with prostitutes; Therefore the people that hath not understanding shall fall.

15 “Aunque tú, Israel, te hagas la prostituta, pero no dejes que Judá se ofenda; y no vengas a Gilgal, ni subir a Beth Aven, ni jurar: “Vive Yahvé”.

Though thou play the harlot, O Israel, Yet let not Judah offend! Come ye not to Gilgal, Neither go ye up to Bethaven. And swear ye not, saying, As Jehovah liveth!

16 Porque Israel se ha comportado con extrema terquedad, como una vaquilla obstinada. Entonces, ¿cómo los alimentará Yahvé como a un cordero en un prado?

For like a refractory heifer is Israel become refractory, Therefore will Jehovah feed them, like a lamb in a wide place.

17 Efraín está unido a los ídolos. ¡Déjalo en paz!

Ephraim is joined to idols; Let him alone!

18 Su bebida se ha agriado. Hacen el papel de prostituta continuamente. Sus gobernantes aman su vergonzoso camino.

When their carousal is over, They give themselves up to lasciviousness; Their rulers love shame.

19 El viento la ha envuelto en sus alas; y se verán defraudados a causa de sus sacrificios.

The wind hath bound them up with its wings, And they shall be brought to shame on account of their sacrifices.
