Esdras 3
1 Cuando llegó el séptimo mes, y los hijos de Israel estaban en las ciudades, el pueblo se reunió como un solo hombre en Jerusalén.
But, when the seventh month was come, and the sons of Israel were in cities, then did the people gather themselves together as one man, unto Jerusalem.
2 Entonces Jesúa, hijo de Josadac, se levantó con sus hermanos los sacerdotes y con Zorobabel, hijo de Salatiel, y sus parientes, y edificaron el altar del Dios de Israel para ofrecer sobre él holocaustos, como está escrito en la ley de Moisés, el hombre de Dios.
Then arose—Jeshua son of Jozadak and his brethren the priests, and Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and his brethren, and built the altar of the God of Israel, —to offer thereon ascending-sacrifices, as it was written in the law of Moses, the man of God.
3 A pesar del temor que sentían por los pueblos de las tierras circundantes, colocaron el altar sobre su base, y ofrecieron sobre él holocaustos a Yahvé, holocaustos por la mañana y por la tarde.
So they settled the altar upon its stands, for, dread, was upon them, because of the peoples of the countries, —therefore caused they to go up thereon, ascending-sacrifices unto Yahweh, ascending-sacrifices for the morning and for the evening.
4 Celebraron la fiesta de las cabañas, como está escrito, y ofrecieron los holocaustos diarios por número, según la ordenanza, como lo exigía el deber de cada día;
And they kept the festival of booths, as it was written, —and the ascending-offering of each day upon its own day, by number, according to regulation, the matter of a day upon its day;
5 y después el holocausto continuo, las ofrendas de las lunas nuevas, de todas las fiestas fijas de Yahvé que estaban consagradas, y de todos los que voluntariamente ofrecían una ofrenda voluntaria a Yahvé.
and, afterwards, the continual ascending-sacrifice, and, on the new moons, and on all the appointed seasons of Yahweh, the hallowed things, —also for every one that volunteered a voluntary offering unto Yahweh.
6 Desde el primer día del séptimo mes comenzaron a ofrecer holocaustos a Yahvé, pero aún no se habían puesto los cimientos del templo de Yahvé.
From the first day of the seventh month, began they to offer up ascending-sacrifices unto Yahweh, —but, the temple of Yahweh, had not had its foundation laid.
7 También dieron dinero a los albañiles y a los carpinteros. También dieron comida, bebida y aceite a la gente de Sidón y Tiro para que trajeran cedros del Líbano al mar, a Jope, según la concesión que tenían de Ciro, rey de Persia.
And they gave silver, unto the masons and carpenters, —and food and drink and oil, unto them of Zidon and unto them of Tyre, to bring in cedar-trees out of the Lebanon, unto the sea of Joppa, according to the grant of Cyrus king of Persia unto them.
8 En el segundo año de su llegada a la casa de Dios en Jerusalén, en el segundo mes, Zorobabel hijo de Salatiel, Jesúa hijo de Josadac, y los demás hermanos de ellos, los sacerdotes y los levitas, y todos los que habían venido de la cautividad a Jerusalén, comenzaron la obra y designaron a los levitas, de veinte años para arriba, para que tuvieran la dirección de la obra de la casa de Yahvé.
Now, in the second year of their coming in unto the house of God, to Jerusalem, in the second month, began Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and Jeshua son of Jozadak and the rest of their brethren—the priests and the Levites, and all that were come out of the captivity to Jerusalem, and stationed the Levites, of twenty years old and upwards, to preside over the work of the house of Yahweh.
9 Entonces Jesúa se puso de pie con sus hijos y sus hermanos, Cadmiel y sus hijos, los hijos de Judá, juntos para tener la supervisión de los obreros en la casa de Dios: los hijos de Henadad, con sus hijos y sus hermanos los levitas.
So they took their station—even Jeshua, his sons and his brethren, Kadmiel and his sons, sons of Judah, as one man to preside over the doer of the work in the house of God, the sons of Henadad, their sons and their brethren, the Levites.
10 Cuando los constructores pusieron los cimientos del templo de Yahvé, pusieron a los sacerdotes con sus vestimentas y con trompetas, y a los levitas hijos de Asaf con címbalos, para alabar a Yahvé, según las indicaciones de David, rey de Israel.
And, when the builders laid the foundation of the temple of Yahweh, then the priests, enrobed, took their stand with trumpets, and the Levites the sons of Asaph with cymbals, to offer praise unto Yahweh, after the instructions of David king of Israel.
11 Cantaron entre sí alabando y dando gracias a Yahvé: “Porque es bueno, porque su bondad es eterna para con Israel”. Todo el pueblo gritaba con gran júbilo cuando alababa a Yahvé, porque se habían puesto los cimientos de la casa de Yahvé.
And, when they made responses in offering praise and in giving thanks unto Yahweh—For he is good, for, age-abiding, is his lovingkindness, upon Israel, then, all the people, shouted with a great shout, in offering praise unto Yahweh, over the laying of the foundation of the house of Yahweh.
12 Pero muchos de los sacerdotes, de los levitas y de los jefes de familia, de los ancianos que habían visto la primera casa, cuando se pusieron los cimientos de esta casa ante sus ojos, lloraron a gritos. También muchos gritaban de alegría,
But, many of the priests and the Levites and the ancestral chiefs, who were old men, that had seen the first house, when the foundation of this house was laid before their eyes, were weeping with a loud voice, —many, however, shouting and rejoicing, with voice raised on high;
13 de modo que el pueblo no podía distinguir el ruido del grito de alegría del ruido del llanto del pueblo; porque el pueblo gritaba con fuerza, y el ruido se oía lejos.
so that the people could not distinguish the noise of the shout of joy, from the noise of the weeping of the people, —for, the people, did shout with a great shout, and, the noise, was heard afar off.
