Deuteronomio 6
1 Estos son los mandamientos, los estatutos y los decretos que Yahvé, tu Dios, te ha mandado enseñar, para que los pongas en práctica en la tierra que vas a poseer;
These now are the commandements, ordinances, and lawes, which the Lord your God commanded me to teach you, that ye might doe them in the land whither ye go to possesse it:
2 para que temas a Yahvé, tu Dios, y guardes todos sus estatutos y sus mandamientos, que yo te mando a ti, a tu hijo y al hijo de tu hijo, todos los días de tu vida, y para que tus días se prolonguen.
That thou mightest feare the Lord thy God, and keepe all his ordinances, and his commandements which I commaund thee, thou, and thy sonne, and thy sonnes sonne all the dayes of thy life, euen that thy dayes may be prolonged.
3 Escucha, pues, Israel, y procura ponerlo por obra, para que te vaya bien y te multipliques, como Yahvé, el Dios de tus padres, te ha prometido, en una tierra que mana leche y miel.
Heare therefore, O Israel, and take heede to doe it, that it may go well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily in the land that floweth with milke and hony, as the Lord God of thy fathers hath promised thee.
4 Escucha, Israel: Yahvé es nuestro Dios. Yahvé es uno.
Heare, O Israel, The Lord our God is Lord onely,
5 Amarás a Yahvé vuestro Dios con todo tu corazón, con toda tu alma y con todas tus fuerzas.
And thou shalt loue the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soule, and with all thy might.
6 Estas palabras que hoy te ordeno estarán en tu corazón;
And these wordes which I commaund thee this day, shalbe in thine heart.
7 y las enseñarás con diligencia a tus hijos, y hablarás de ellas cuando te sientes en tu casa, cuando andes por el camino, cuando te acuestes y cuando te levantes.
And thou shalt rehearse them continually vnto thy children, and shalt talke of them when thou tariest in thine house, and as thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest downe, and when thou risest vp:
8 Las atarás como señal en tu mano, y serán como frontales entre tus ojos.
And thou shalt binde them for a signe vpon thine hand, and they shalbe as frontlets betweene thine eyes.
9 Las escribirás en los postes de tu casa y en tus puertas.
Also thou shalt write them vpon ye postes of thine house, and vpon thy gates.
10 Cuando Yahvé, tu Dios, te lleve a la tierra que juró a tus padres, a Abraham, a Isaac y a Jacob, que te daría, ciudades grandes y buenas que no construiste,
And when the Lord thy God hath brought thee into the land, which he sware vnto thy fathers, Abraham, Izhak, and Iaakob, to giue to thee, with great and goodly cities which thou buildedst not,
11 y casas llenas de todo lo bueno que no llenaste, y cisternas excavadas que no cavaste, viñas y olivos que no plantaste, comerás y te saciarás;
And houses full of all maner of goods which thou filledst not, and welles digged which thou diggedst not, vineyards and oliue trees which thou plantedst not, and when thou hast eaten and art full,
12 entonces ten cuidado de no olvidarte de Yahvé, que te sacó de la tierra de Egipto, de la casa de servidumbre.
Beware least thou forget the Lord, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
13 Temerás a Yahvé, tu Dios, y le servirás, y jurarás por su nombre.
Thou shalt feare the Lord thy God, and serue him, and shalt sweare by his Name.
14 No irás en pos de otros dioses, de los dioses de los pueblos que te rodean,
Ye shall not walke after other gods, after any of the gods of the people which are round about you,
15 porque Yahvé vuestro Dios en medio de ti es un Dios celoso, no sea que la ira de Yahvé vuestro Dios se encienda contra ti y te destruya de la faz de la tierra.
(For the Lord thy God is a ielous God among you: ) least the wrath of the Lord thy God be kindled against thee, and destroy thee from the face of the earth.
16 No tentarás a Yahvé vuestro Dios, como lo tentaste en Masá.
Ye shall not tempt the Lord your God, as ye did tempt him in Massah:
17 Guardarás con diligencia los mandamientos de Yahvé vuestro Dios, sus testimonios y sus estatutos, que él te ha ordenado.
But ye shall keepe diligently the commandements of the Lord your God, and his testimonies, and his ordinances which he hath commanded thee,
18 Harás lo que es justo y bueno a los ojos de Yahvé, para que te vaya bien y entres a poseer la buena tierra que Yahvé juró a tus padres,
And thou shalt doe that which is right and good in the sight of the Lord: that thou mayest prosper, and that thou mayest go in, and possesse that good land which the Lord sware vnto thy fathers,
19 para echar a todos tus enemigos de delante de ti, como Yahvé ha dicho.
To cast out all thine enemies before thee, as the Lord hath sayd.
20 Cuando tu hijo te pregunte en el futuro, diciendo: “¿Qué significan los testimonios, los estatutos y las ordenanzas que el Señor, nuestro Dios, te ha ordenado?”
When thy sonne shall aske thee in time to come, saying, What meane these testimonies, and ordinances, and Lawes, which the Lord our God hath commanded you?
21 entonces le dirás a tu hijo: “Fuimos esclavos del Faraón en Egipto. Yahvé nos sacó de Egipto con mano poderosa;
Then shalt thou say vnto thy sonne, We were Pharaohs bondmen in Egypt: but the Lord brought vs out of Egypt with a mightie hand.
22 y Yahvé hizo grandes y asombrosas señales y prodigios sobre Egipto, sobre el Faraón y sobre toda su casa, ante nuestros ojos;
And the Lord shewed signes and wonders great and euill vpon Egypt, vpon Pharaoh, and vpon all his housholde, before our eyes,
23 y nos sacó de allí para introducirnos en ella, para darnos la tierra que juró a nuestros padres.
And brought vs out from thence, to bring vs in, and to giue vs the land which he sware vnto our fathers.
24 Yahvé nos mandó hacer todos estos estatutos, para temer a Yahvé nuestro Dios, para nuestro bien siempre, para que nos conserve la vida, como hoy.
Therefore the Lord hath commanded vs, to doe all these ordinances, and to feare the Lord our God, that it may goe euer well with vs, and that he may preserue vs aliue as at this present.
25 Será justo para nosotros, si observamos poner en práctica todos estos mandamientos delante de Yahvé nuestro Dios, como él nos ha mandado.”
Moreouer, this shall be our righteousnes before the Lord our God, if we take heede to keepe all these commandements, as he hath commanded vs.
