Deuteronomio 11

1 Por eso amarás a Yahvé vuestro Dios, y guardarás siempre sus instrucciones, sus estatutos, sus ordenanzas y sus mandamientos.

Thou shalt therefore love the Lord thy God, and keep his charge, and his statutes, and his ordinances, and his commandments, all the days.

2 Conoce hoy — pues no hablo con vuestros hijos que no han conocido y no han visto el castigo de Yahvé vuestro Dios, su grandeza, su mano poderosa, su brazo extendido,

And ye shall know this day, that [I speak] not with your children who have not known, and who have not seen the chastisement of the Lord your God, his greatness, his strong hand, and his outstretched arm;

3 sus señales y sus obras, que hizo en medio de Egipto al faraón, rey de Egipto, y a toda su tierra;

And his signs, and his acts, which he displayed in the midst of Egypt, unto Pharaoh the king of Egypt, and unto all his land;

4 y lo que hizo al ejército de Egipto, a sus caballos y a sus carros; cómo hizo que las aguas del Mar Rojo se desbordaran mientras os perseguían, y cómo Yahvé los ha destruido hasta el día de hoy;

And what he did unto the army of Egypt, unto its horses, and to its chariots; over whom he caused the water of the Red Sea to flow, as they pursued after you, and whom the Lord destroyed unto this day;

5 y lo que ha hecho con vosotros en el desierto hasta que habéis llegado a este lugar

And what he did unto you in the wilderness, until ye came unto this place;

6 y lo que hizo con Datán y Abiram, hijos de Eliab, hijo de Rubén; cómo la tierra abrió su boca y se los tragó, con sus casas, sus tiendas y todo ser viviente que los seguía, en medio de todo Israel;

And what he did unto Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of Reuben; how the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their households, and their tents, and all the living substance that followed them, in the midst of all Israel;

7 pero vuestros ojos han visto toda la gran obra de Yahvé que hizo.

But it is your own eyes which have seen all the great acts of the Lord which he hath done.

8 Por lo tanto, guardad todo el mandamiento que hoy te ordeno, para que seáis fuertes, entréis y poseáis la tierra que pasáis a poseer;

Ye shall therefore keep all the commandment which I command you this day, that ye may be strong, and go in and take possession of the land, whither ye go over to possess it;

9 y para que prolonguéis vuestros días en la tierra que Yahvé juró a vuestros padres que les daría a ellos y a su descendencia, una tierra que fluye leche y miel.

And in order that ye may live many days in the land, which the Lord hath sworn unto your fathers to give unto them and to their seed, a land flowing with milk and honey.

10 Porque la tierra que vas a poseer no es como la tierra de Egipto de la que saliste, en la que sembraste tu semilla y la regaste con tu pie, como un jardín de hierbas;

For the land, whither thou goest in to possess it, is not like the land of Egypt, from where ye came out, where thou sowest thy seed, and waterest it with thy foot, as a garden of herbs;

11 sino que la tierra que vas a poseer es una tierra de colinas y valles que bebe agua de la lluvia del cielo,

But the land, whither ye go over to possess it, is a land of mountains and valleys, from the rain of heaven doth it drink water.

12 una tierra que Yahvé vuestro Dios cuida. Los ojos del Señor, tu Dios, están siempre sobre ella, desde el principio del año hasta el final del año.

A land which the Lord thy God careth for; always are the eyes of the Lord thy God upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year.

13 Si escuchas atentamente mis mandamientos que hoy os ordeno, de amar a Yahvé vuestro Dios y de servirle con todo tu corazón y con toda tu alma,

And it shall come to pass, if ye will hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love the Lord your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul,

14 yo daré la lluvia para tu tierra en su tiempo, la lluvia temprana y la lluvia tardía, para que recojas tu grano, tu vino nuevo y tu aceite.

That I will send rain for your land in its due season, the first rain and the latter rain, that thou mayest gather in thy corn, and thy wine, and thy oil.

15 Daré hierba en tus campos para tu ganado, y comerás y te saciarás.

And I will give grass in thy field for thy cattle; and thou shalt eat and be satisfied,

16 Tened cuidado, no sea que vuestro corazón se engañe y os apartéis para servir a otros dioses y los adoréis;

Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them;

17 y se encienda la ira de Yahvé contra vosotros, y cierre el cielo para que no haya lluvia, y la tierra no dé su fruto; y perezcáis rápidamente de la buena tierra que Yahvé os da.

[For] then the Lord's wrath will be kindled against you, and he will shut up the heavens that there be no rain, and the land will not yield her products; and ye shall perish quickly from off the good land which the Lord giveth unto you.

18 Por lo tanto, guardaréis estas palabras mías en vuestro corazón y en vuestra alma. Las ataréis como señal en vuestro mano, y serán como frontales entre tus ojos.

Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul; and ye shall bind them for a sign upon your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.

19 Se las enseñarás a tus hijos, hablando de ellas cuando te sientes en tu casa, cuando andes por el camino, cuando te acuestes y cuando te levantes.

And ye shall teach them to your children, to speak of them when thou sittest in thy house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

20 Las escribirás en los postes de tu casa y en tus puertas;

And thou shalt write them upon the door-posts of thy house, and upon thy gates.

21 para que vuestros días y los de vuestros hijos se multipliquen en la tierra que Yahvé juró darles a vuestros padres, como los días de los cielos sobre la tierra.

In order that your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which the Lord swore unto your fathers to give unto them, as the days of the heavens over the earth.

22 Porque si guardáis con diligencia todos estos mandamientos que os ordeno — de amar a Yahvé vuestro Dios, de andar por todos sus caminos y de aferraros a él —

For if ye will diligently keep all this commandment which I command you, in order to do it, to love the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cleave unto him:

23 entonces Yahvé expulsará a todas estas naciones de delante de vosotros, y desposeeréis a naciones más grandes y poderosas que vosotros.

Then will the Lord drive out all these nations from before you, and ye shall supplant nations greater and mightier than yourselves.

24 Todo lugar que pise la planta de tu pie será tuyo: desde el desierto y el Líbano, desde el río Éufrates hasta el mar occidental será tu frontera.

Every place whereon the sole of your foot may tread shall be yours: from the wilderness and the Lebanon, from the river, the river Euphrates, even unto the Western Sea shall be your boundary.

25 Ningún hombre podrá hacer frente a vosotros. El Señor, vuestro Dios, infundirá vuestro temor y vuestro miedo en toda la tierra que pises, como te ha dicho.

There shall no man be able to stand up before you; the dread of you and the fear of you will the Lord your God lay upon all the land which ye may tread upon, as he hath spoken unto you.

26 He aquí que hoy pongo delante de vosotros una bendición y una maldición:

Behold, I lay before you this day a blessing and a curse:

27 la bendición, si obedecéis los mandamientos de Yahvé vuestro Dios que hoy te ordeno;

The blessing, if ye will hearken unto the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you this day;

28 y la maldición, si no obedecéis los mandamientos de Yahvé vuestro Dios, y os apartaréis del camino que hoy os ordeno, para ir en pos de otros dioses que no has conocido.

And the curse, if ye will not hearken unto the commandments of the Lord your God, and ye turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye know not.

29 Sucederá que cuando el Señor tu Dios te lleve a la tierra que vas a poseer, pondrás la bendición en el monte Gerizim y la maldición en el monte Ebal.

And it shall come to pass, when the Lord thy God shall have brought thee in unto the land whither thou goest to possess it, that thou shalt put the blessing upon mount Gerizzim, and the curse upon mount 'Ebal.

30 ¿No están al otro lado del Jordán, detrás del camino de la puesta del sol, en la tierra de los cananeos que habitan en el Arabá, cerca de Gilgal, junto a los robles de Moreh?

Behold, they are on the other side of the Jordan, far away in the direction of the going down of the sun, in the land of the Canaanites, who dwell in the plain, opposite Gilgal, near the grove of Moreh.

31 Porque vosotros pasáis el Jordán para entrar a poseer la tierra que Yahvé vuestro Dios te da, y la poseerás y habitarás en ella.

For ye are about to pass over the Jordan to go in to take possession of the land which the Lord your God giveth you; and ye will possess it, and dwell therein.

32 Deberás cumplir con todos los estatutos y las ordenanzas que hoy te propongo.

And ye shall then observe to do all the statutes and ordinances which I set before you this day.
