Amós 6
1 Ay de los que están tranquilos en Sión, y a los que están seguros en la montaña de Samaria, los hombres notables de los jefes de las naciones, ¡a quien la casa de Israel acude!
Woe to them that dwell at ease in Zion; That feel secure upon the mountain of Samaria; The honorable men of the chief of the nations, To whom the house of Israel resort!
2 Ve a Calneh y mira. Desde allí ve a Hamath la grande. Luego baja a Gat de los filisteos. ¿Son mejores que estos reinos? ¿Su frontera es mayor que la tuya?
Pass over to Calneh, and see; And thence go to great Hamath; Then go down to Gath of the Philistines: Are they better than these kingdoms, Or is their border greater than your border?
3 Ay de ti, que alejas el día malo, y hacer que se acerque la sede de la violencia,
Woe to them, that put far away the day of evil, And bring near the seat of oppression;
4 que yacen en camas de marfil, y se estiran en sus sofás, y comer los corderos del rebaño, y los terneros fuera del centro del establo,
That lie upon beds of ivory, And stretch themselves upon their couches; That eat lambs from the flock, And calves from the stall;
5 que rasguean las cuerdas de un arpa, que inventan para sí mismos instrumentos de música, como David;
That chant to the sound of the harp, And invent for themselves instruments of music, like David;
6 que beben vino en tazones, y se ungen con los mejores aceites, pero no se afligen por la aflicción de José.
That drink wine in bowls, And anoint themselves with the most precious perfumes, But grieve not for the destruction of Joseph!
7 Por tanto, ahora irán cautivos con los primeros que vayan cautivos. La fiesta y la holgazanería terminarán.
Therefore now shall they go captive at the head of the captives; Yea, the shouting of them that stretch themselves upon their couches shall cease.
8 “El Señor Yahvé ha jurado por sí mismo”, dice Yahvé, el Dios de los Ejércitos: “Aborrezco el orgullo de Jacob, y detesta sus fortalezas. Por eso entregaré la ciudad con todo lo que hay en ella.
The Lord Jehovah hath sworn by himself, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of hosts: I abhor the pride of Jacob, And I hate his palaces; I will give up the city, and all that is therein.
9 Sucederá que si diez hombres permanecen en una casa morirán.
And if ten men remain in one house, These also shall die.
10 “Cuando el pariente de un hombre lo lleva, incluso el que lo quema, para sacar los cadáveres de la casa, y le pregunta al que está en el interior de la casa: ‘¿Hay todavía alguno con vosotros?’ Y él dice: ‘No’. Y él responda: ‘No’; entonces dirá: ‘Calla, en efecto, no debemos mencionar el nombre de Yahvé’.
A man's relative, or a burner of the dead, shall take him up, To carry his bones out of the house, And he shall say to him that is in the innermost part of the house, Is there yet any one with thee? And he shall answer, No one! Then shall he say, Keep silence! For we may not make mention of the name of Jehovah.
11 “Porque, he aquí que Yahvé lo ordena, y la gran casa será hecha pedazos, y la casita en pedazos.
For behold Jehovah hath commanded, And he will smite the great house with breaches, And the small house with clefts.
12 ¿Corren los caballos por los peñascos? ¿Se ara allí con bueyes? Pero has convertido la justicia en veneno, y el fruto de la justicia en amargura,
Shall horses run upon rocks, Or will one plough rocks with oxen, That ye change justice into hemlock, And the fruit of equity into wormwood,
13 tú que te alegras de una cosa de nada, que dices, ‘¿No hemos tomado para nosotros los cuernos por nuestra propia fuerza?’
Ye that rejoice in a thing of naught, And say, Have we not acquired dominion by our own strength?
14 Porque, he aquí que yo levantaré contra vosotros una nación, casa de Israel,” dice Yahvé, el Dios de los Ejércitos; “y te afligirán desde la entrada de Hamat hasta el arroyo del Arabá”.
Behold, O house of Israel, saith Jehovah, the God of hosts, I will raise against you a nation, That shall oppress you from Hamath Even to the brook of the desert.
