Hechos 24
1 Al cabo de cinco días, el sumo sacerdote Ananías bajó con algunos ancianos y un orador, un tal Tértulo. Informaron al gobernador contra Pablo.
And after five days Ananias the high priest descended with the elders, and [with] a certain orator [named] Tertullus, who informed the governor against Paul.
2 Cuando lo llamaron, Tertulio comenzó a acusarlo, diciendo: “Viendo que por ti gozamos de mucha paz y que la prosperidad llega a esta nación por tu previsión,
And when he was called forth, Tertullus began to accuse [him], saying, Seeing that by thee we enjoy great quietness, and that very worthy deeds are done unto this nation by thy providence,
3 lo aceptamos de todas las maneras y en todos los lugares, excelentísimo Félix, con todo agradecimiento.
We accept [it] always, and in all places, most noble Felix, with all thankfulness.
4 Pero para no retrasaros, os ruego que tengáis paciencia con nosotros y escuchéis unas palabras.
Notwithstanding, that I be not further tedious unto thee, I pray thee that thou wouldest hear us of thy clemency a few words.
5 Porque hemos descubierto que este hombre es una plaga, instigador de insurrecciones entre todos los judíos del mundo, y cabecilla de la secta de los nazarenos.
For we have found this man [a] pestilent [fellow], and a mover of sedition among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes:
6 Incluso intentó profanar el templo, y lo arrestamos.
Who also hath gone about to profane the temple: whom we took, and would have judged according to our law.
But the chief captain Lysias came [upon us], and with great violence took [him] away out of our hands,
8 Examinándolo tú mismo podrás comprobar todas estas cosas de las que lo acusamos.”
Commanding his accusers to come unto thee: by examining of whom thyself mayest take knowledge of all these things, whereof we accuse him.
9 Los judíos también se unieron al ataque, afirmando que estas cosas eran así.
And the Jews also assented, saying that these things were so.
10 Cuando el gobernador le hizo una señal para que hablara, Pablo respondió: “Como sé que tú eres juez de esta nación desde hace muchos años, hago alegremente mi defensa,
Then Paul, after that the governor had beckoned unto him to speak, answered, Forasmuch as I know that thou hast been of many years a judge unto this nation, I do the more cheerfully answer for myself:
11 ya que puedes comprobar que no hace más de doce días que subí a adorar a Jerusalén.
Because that thou mayest understand, that there are yet but twelve days since I went up to Jerusalem for to worship.
12 En el templo no me encontraron disputando con nadie ni agitando a la multitud, ni en las sinagogas ni en la ciudad.
And they neither found me in the temple disputing with any man, neither raising up the people, neither in the synagogues, nor in the city:
13 Tampoco pueden probaros las cosas de las que ahora me acusan.
Neither can they prove the things whereof they now accuse me.
14 Pero esto os confieso: que según el Camino, al que llaman secta, así sirvo al Dios de nuestros padres, creyendo en todo lo que es conforme a la ley y lo que está escrito en los profetas;
But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets:
15 teniendo esperanza en Dios, que también éstos esperan, de que habrá una resurrección de los muertos, tanto de los justos como de los injustos.
And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust.
16 En esto también practico teniendo siempre una conciencia libre de ofensas para con Dios y los hombres.
And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and [toward] men.
17 Después de algunos años, vine a traer dones para los necesitados de mi nación, y ofrendas;
Now after many years I came to bring alms to my nation, and offerings.
18 en medio de lo cual algunos judíos de Asia me encontraron purificado en el templo, no con una turba, ni con alboroto.
Whereupon certain Jews from Asia found me purified in the temple, neither with multitude, nor with tumult.
19 Deberían haber estado aquí antes que tú y haber hecho la acusación si tenían algo contra mí.
Who ought to have been here before thee, and object, if they had ought against me.
20 O bien, que sean estos mismos los que digan qué injusticia encontraron en mí cuando me presenté ante el concilio,
Or else let these same [here] say, if they have found any evil doing in me, while I stood before the council,
21 a no ser que sea por esta única cosa por la que grité de pie en medio de ellos: “¡Acerca de la resurrección de los muertos estoy siendo juzgado hoy ante vosotros!”
Except it be for this one voice, that I cried standing among them, Touching the resurrection of the dead I am called in question by you this day.
22 Pero Félix, que tenía un conocimiento más exacto del Camino, los aplazó diciendo: “Cuando baje Lisias, el oficial al mando, decidiré tu caso.”
And when Felix heard these things, having more perfect knowledge of [that] way, he deferred them, and said, When Lysias the chief captain shall come down, I will know the uttermost of your matter.
23 Ordenó al centurión que Pablo fuera custodiado y tuviera algunos privilegios, y que no prohibiera a ninguno de sus amigos servirle o visitarle.
And he commanded a centurion to keep Paul, and to let [him] have liberty, and that he should forbid none of his acquaintance to minister or come unto him.
24 Al cabo de algunos días, Félix vino con su esposa Drusila, que era judía, y mandó llamar a Pablo para oírle acerca de la fe en Cristo Jesús.
And after certain days, when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, which was a Jewess, he sent for Paul, and heard him concerning the faith in Christ.
25 Al razonar sobre la justicia, el dominio propio y el juicio que ha de venir, Félix se aterrorizó y respondió: “Vete por ahora, y cuando me convenga, te convocaré.”
And as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee.
26 Mientras tanto, también esperaba que Pablo le diera dinero para poder liberarlo. Por eso también le mandó llamar más a menudo y habló con él.
He hoped also that money should have been given him of Paul, that he might loose him: wherefore he sent for him the oftener, and communed with him.
27 Pero cuando se cumplieron dos años, Félix fue sucedido por Porcio Festo, y deseando ganarse el favor de los judíos, Félix dejó a Pablo en prisión.
But after two years Porcius Festus came into Felix’ room: and Felix, willing to shew the Jews a pleasure, left Paul bound.
