Hechos 20

1 Cuando cesó el alboroto, Pablo mandó llamar a los discípulos, se despidió de ellos y partió para ir a Macedonia.

And after the uproar was ceased, Paul having sent for the disciples and exhorted them, took leave of them, and departed for to go into Macedonia.

2 Después de recorrer aquellas tierras y de animarles con muchas palabras, llegó a Grecia.

And when he had gone through those parts, and had given them much exhortation, he came into Greece.

3 Después de haber pasado tres meses allí, y cuando estaba a punto de embarcarse para Siria, los judíos tramaron un complot contra él, por lo que decidió volver por Macedonia.

And when he had spent three months [there], and a plot was laid against him by the Jews, as he was about to set sail for Syria, he determined to return through Macedonia.

4 Estos le acompañaron hasta Asia: Sópater de Berea, Aristarco y Segundo de los tesalonicenses, Gayo de Derbe, Timoteo, y Tíquico y Trófimo de Asia.

And there accompanied him as far as Asia Sopater of Beroea, [the son] of Pyrrhus; and of the Thessalonians, Aristarchus and Secundus; and Gaius of Derbe, and Timothy; and of Asia, Tychicus and Trophimus.

5 Pero éstos se habían adelantado y nos esperaban en Troas.

But these had gone before, and were waiting for us at Troas.

6 Zarpamos de Filipos después de los días de los Panes sin Levadura, y llegamos a ellos en Troas en cinco días, donde permanecimos siete días.

And we sailed away from Philippi after the days of unleavened bread, and came unto them to Troas in five days; where we tarried seven days.

7 El primer día de la semana, cuando los discípulos estaban reunidos para partir el pan, Pablo habló con ellos, con la intención de partir al día siguiente; y continuó su discurso hasta la medianoche.

And upon the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread, Paul discoursed with them, intending to depart on the morrow; and prolonged his speech until midnight.

8 Había muchas luces en la sala superior donde estábamos reunidos.

And there were many lights in the upper chamber, where we were gathered together.

9 Un joven llamado Eutico estaba sentado en la ventana, agobiado por un profundo sueño. Como Pablo seguía hablando, agobiado por el sueño, se cayó del tercer piso y lo subieron muerto.

And there sat in the window a certain young man named Eutychus, borne down with deep sleep; and as Paul discoursed yet longer, being borne down by his sleep he fell down from the third story, and was taken up dead.

10 Pablo bajó, se echó sobre él y, abrazándolo, le dijo: “No te preocupes, porque su vida está en él.”

And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Make ye no ado; for his life is in him.

11 Cuando subió, partió el pan y comió, y habló con ellos un largo rato, hasta el amanecer, se fue.

And when he was gone up, and had broken the bread, and eaten, and had talked with them a long while, even till break of day, so he departed.

12 Trajeron al muchacho vivo, y se consolaron mucho.

And they brought the lad alive, and were not a little comforted.

13 Pero nosotros, adelantándonos a la nave, zarpamos hacia Assos, con la intención de embarcar allí a Pablo, pues él así lo había dispuesto, con la intención de ir por tierra.

But we, going before to the ship, set sail for Assos, there intending to take in Paul: for so had he appointed, intending himself to go by land.

14 Cuando se encontró con nosotros en Assos, lo subimos a bordo y llegamos a Mitilene.

And when he met us at Assos, we took him in, and came to Mitylene.

15 Partiendo de allí, llegamos al día siguiente frente a Quíos. Al día siguiente tocamos en Samos y nos quedamos en Trogilio, y al día siguiente llegamos a Mileto.

And sailing from thence, we came the following day over against Chios; and the next day we touched at Samos; and the day after we came to Miletus.

16 Porque Pablo había decidido navegar más allá de Éfeso, para no tener que pasar tiempo en Asia, pues se apresuraba, si le era posible, a estar en Jerusalén el día de Pentecostés.

For Paul had determined to sail past Ephesus, that he might not have to spend time in Asia; for he was hastening, if it were possible for him, to be at Jerusalem the day of Pentecost.

17 Desde Mileto envió a Éfeso y llamó a los ancianos de la asamblea.

And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called to him the elders of the church.

18 Cuando vinieron a él, les dijo: “Vosotros mismos sabéis, desde el primer día que puse el pie en Asia, cómo estuve con vosotros todo el tiempo,

And when they were come to him, he said unto them, Ye yourselves know, from the first day that I set foot in Asia, after what manner I was with you all the time,

19 sirviendo al Señor con toda humildad, con muchas lágrimas y con pruebas que me sucedieron por las conspiraciones de los judíos;

serving the Lord with all lowliness of mind, and with tears, and with trials which befell me by the plots of the Jews:

20 cómo no rehusé declararos todo lo que era provechoso, enseñándoos públicamente y de casa en casa,

how that I shrank not from declaring unto you anything that was profitable, and teaching you publicly, and from house to house,

21 testificando tanto a judíos como a griegos el arrepentimiento para con Dios y la fe en nuestro Señor Jesús.

testifying both to Jews and to Greeks repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

22 Ahora bien, he aquí que voy atado por el Espíritu a Jerusalén, sin saber lo que me sucederá allí;

And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there:

23 salvo que el Espíritu Santo da testimonio en cada ciudad, diciendo que me esperan prisiones y aflicciones.

save that the Holy Ghost testifieth unto me in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me.

24 Pero estas cosas no cuentan, ni estimo mi vida, para terminar mi carrera con alegría, y el ministerio que recibí del Señor Jesús, para dar pleno testimonio de la Buena Nueva de la gracia de Dios.

But I hold not my life of any account, as dear unto myself, so that I may accomplish my course, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

25 “Ahora, he aquí, sé que todos vosotros, entre los que anduve predicando el Reino de Dios, no veréis más mi rostro.

And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I went about preaching the kingdom, shall see my face no more.

26 Por tanto, hoy os testifico que estoy limpio de la sangre de todos los hombres,

Wherefore I testify unto you this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men.

27 pues no he rehuido declararos todo el consejo de Dios.

For I shrank not from declaring unto you the whole counsel of God.

28 Velad, pues, por vosotros mismos y por todo el rebaño, en el que el Espíritu Santo os ha puesto como pastores de la asamblea del Señor y Dios, que él adquirió con su propia sangre.

Take heed unto yourselves, and to all the flock, in the which the Holy Ghost hath made you bishops, to feed the church of God, which he purchased with his own blood.

29 Porque sé que, después de mi partida, entrarán entre vosotros lobos rapaces que no perdonarán al rebaño.

I know that after my departing grievous wolves shall enter in among you, not sparing the flock;

30 Se levantarán hombres de entre vosotros, hablando cosas perversas, para arrastrar a los discípulos tras ellos.

and from among your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them.

31 Velad, pues, recordando que durante tres años no dejé de amonestar a todos noche y día con lágrimas.

Wherefore watch ye, remembering that by the space of three years I ceased not to admonish every one night and day with tears.

32 Ahora, hermanos, os encomiendo a Dios y a la palabra de su gracia, que es capaz de edificar y daros la herencia entre todos los santificados.

And now I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build [you] up, and to give [you] the inheritance among all them that are sanctified.

33 No he codiciado la plata, el oro ni la ropa de nadie.

I coveted no man’s silver, or gold, or apparel.

34 Vosotros mismos sabéis que estas manos sirvieron a mis necesidades, y a las de los que estaban conmigo.

Ye yourselves know that these hands ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me.

35 En todo os he dado ejemplo de que, trabajando así, debéis ayudar a los débiles, y recordar las palabras del Señor Jesús, que él mismo dijo: “Más bienaventurado es dar que recibir”.”

In all things I gave you an example, how that so labouring ye ought to help the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

36 Después de decir estas cosas, se arrodilló y oró con todos ellos.

And when he had thus spoken, he kneeled down, and prayed with them all.

37 Todos lloraban a lágrima viva, se echaban al cuello de Pablo y lo besaban,

And they all wept sore, and fell on Paul’s neck, and kissed him,

38 apenados sobre todo por la palabra que había dicho de no ver más su rostro. Luego lo acompañaron a la nave.

Sorrowing most of all for the word which he had spoken, that they should behold his face no more. And they brought him on his way unto the ship.
