2 Samuel 5

1 Entonces todas las tribus de Israel acudieron a David en Hebrón y hablaron diciendo: “He aquí que somos tu hueso y tu carne.

And all the tribes of Israel come unto David, to Hebron, and speak, saying, 'Lo, we [are] thy bone and thy flesh;

2 En tiempos pasados, cuando Saúl era rey sobre nosotros, eras tú quien conducía a Israel hacia afuera y hacia adentro. Yahvé te dijo: ‘Tú serás pastor de mi pueblo Israel, y serás príncipe sobre Israel’”.

also heretofore, in Saul's being king over us, thou hast been he who is bringing out and bringing in Israel, and Jehovah saith to thee, Thou dost feed My people Israel, and thou art for leader over Israel.'

3 Así que todos los ancianos de Israel vinieron al rey a Hebrón, y el rey David hizo un pacto con ellos en Hebrón ante Yahvé; y ungieron a David como rey de Israel.

And all the elders of Israel come unto the king, to Hebron, and king David maketh with them a covenant in Hebron before Jehovah, and they anoint David for king over Israel.

4 David tenía treinta años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó cuarenta años.

A son of thirty years [is] David in his being king; forty years he hath reigned;

5 En Hebrón reinó sobre Judá siete años y seis meses, y en Jerusalén reinó treinta y tres años sobre todo Israel y Judá.

in Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months, and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years, over all Israel and Judah.

6 El rey y sus hombres se dirigieron a Jerusalén contra los jebuseos, habitantes del país, que hablaron a David diciendo: “Los ciegos y los cojos te mantendrán fuera de aquí”, pensando que “David no puede entrar aquí”.

And the king goeth, and his men, to Jerusalem, unto the Jebusite, the inhabitant of the land, and they speak to David, saying, 'Thou dost not come in hither, except thou turn aside the blind and the lame;' saying, 'David doth not come in hither.'

7 Sin embargo, David tomó la fortaleza de Sión. Esta es la ciudad de David.

And David captureth the fortress of Zion, it [is] the city of David.

8 Aquel día David dijo: “El que golpee a los jebuseos, que suba a la rambla y golpee a los cojos y a los ciegos, que son odiados por el alma de David.” Por eso dicen: “Los ciegos y los cojos no pueden entrar en la casa”.

And David saith on that day, 'Any one smiting the Jebusite, (let him go up by the watercourse), and the lame and the blind — the hated of David's soul,' — because the blind and lame say, 'He doth not come into the house.'

9 David vivió en la fortaleza y la llamó ciudad de David. David construyó alrededor de Millo y hacia adentro.

And David dwelleth in the fortress, and calleth it — City of David, and David buildeth round about, from Millo and inward,

10 David crecía cada vez más, porque Yahvé, el Dios de los Ejércitos, estaba con él.

and David goeth, going on and becoming great, and Jehovah, God of Hosts, [is] with him.

11 Hiram, rey de Tiro, envió mensajeros a David con cedros, carpinteros y albañiles, y le construyeron una casa.

And Hiram king of Tyre sendeth messengers unto David, and cedar-trees, and artificers of wood, and artificers of stone, for walls, and they build a house for David,

12 David se dio cuenta de que Yahvé lo había establecido como rey sobre Israel y que había exaltado su reino por causa de su pueblo Israel.

and David knoweth that Jehovah hath established him for king over Israel, and that He hath lifted up his kingdom, because of His people Israel.

13 David tomó para sí más concubinas y esposas fuera de Jerusalén, después de haber venido de Hebrón; y le nacieron más hijos e hijas.

And David taketh again concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after his coming from Hebron, and there are born again to David sons and daughters.

14 Estos son los nombres de los que le nacieron en Jerusalén Shammua, Shobab, Natán, Salomón,

And these [are] the names of those born to him in Jerusalem: Shammuah, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon,

15 Ibhar, Elishua, Nepheg, Japhia,

and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Japhia,

16 Elishama, Eliada y Eliphelet.

and Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphalet.

17 Cuando los filisteos se enteraron de que habían ungido a David como rey de Israel, todos los filisteos subieron a buscar a David, pero éste se enteró y bajó a la fortaleza.

And the Philistines hear that they have anointed David for king over Israel, and all the Philistines come up to seek David, and David heareth, and goeth down unto the fortress,

18 Los filisteos habían llegado y se habían extendido en el valle de Refaim.

and the Philistines have come, and are spread out in the valley of Rephaim.

19 David consultó al Señor, diciendo: “¿Debo subir contra los filisteos? ¿Los entregarás en mi mano?” Yahvé dijo a David: “Sube, porque ciertamente entregaré a los filisteos en tu mano”.

And David asketh of Jehovah, saying, 'Do I go up unto the Philistines? dost Thou give them into my hand?' And Jehovah saith unto David, 'Go up, for I certainly give the Philistines into thy hand.'

20 David llegó a Baal Perazim, y allí los golpeó. Entonces dijo: “Yahvé ha quebrado a mis enemigos ante mí, como la brecha de las aguas”. Por eso llamó a ese lugar Baal Perazim.

And David cometh in to Baal-Perazim, and David smiteth them there, and saith, 'Jehovah hath broken forth [on] mine enemies before me, as the breaking forth of waters;' therefore he hath called the name of that place Baal-Perazim.

21 Dejaron allí sus imágenes, y David y sus hombres se las llevaron.

And they forsake there their idols, and David and his men lift them up.

22 Los filisteos volvieron a subir y se extendieron por el valle de Refaim.

And the Philistines add again to come up, and are spread out in the valley of Rephaim,

23 Cuando David consultó al Señor, éste le dijo: “No subas. Da la vuelta por detrás de ellos y atácalos frente a las moreras.

and David asketh of Jehovah, and He saith, 'Thou dost not go up, turn round unto their rear, and thou hast come to them over-against the mulberries,

24 Cuando oigas el ruido de la marcha en las copas de las moreras, entonces revuélvete, porque entonces Yahvé ha salido delante de ti para atacar al ejército de los filisteos.”

and it cometh to pass, in thy hearing the sound of a stepping in the tops of the mulberries, then thou dost move sharply, for then hath Jehovah gone out before thee to smite in the camp of the Philistines.'

25 David lo hizo así, tal como se lo había ordenado Yahvé, y atacó a los filisteos desde Geba hasta Gezer.

And David doth so, as Jehovah commanded him, and smiteth the Philistines from Geba unto thy coming to Gazer.
