2 Samuel 15

1 Después de esto, Absalón preparó para sí un carro y caballos, y cincuenta hombres para que corrieran delante de él.

And after this Absalom began to furnish himself with a chariot and horses, and fifty men to run before him.

2 Absalón se levantó temprano y se puso junto al camino de la puerta. Cuando alguno tenía un pleito que debía presentarse ante el rey para ser juzgado, Absalón lo llamaba y le decía: “¿De qué ciudad eres?” Dijo: “Tu siervo es de una de las tribus de Israel”.

And Absalom used to get up early and stand beside the road. Then when anyone had a dispute which should come to the king for judgment, then Absalom would call out to him and say, "What city are you from?" When he said, "Your servant is from one of the tribes of Israel,"

3 Absalón le dijo: “He aquí que tus asuntos son buenos y correctos, pero no hay nadie nombrado por el rey para oírte.”

then Absalom would say to him, "Look, your matters are good and right; but there is no one from the king to hear you."

4 Absalón dijo además: “¡Oh, si me nombraran juez en el país, para que todo hombre que tuviera algún pleito o causa viniera a mí y yo le hiciera justicia!”

And Absalom would say, "Oh that I were made judge in the land, then anyone who had a dispute could come to me, and I would give him justice."

5 Era así, que cuando algún hombre se acercaba a inclinarse ante él, extendía la mano, lo tomaba y lo besaba.

It was so, that when any man came near to do him obeisance, he would extend his hand and embrace him, and kiss him.

6 Absalón hacía este tipo de cosas con todo Israel que se acercaba al rey para pedirle justicia. Así, Absalón robó el corazón de los hombres de Israel.

Absalom did this sort of thing to all Israel who came to the king for judgment. So Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel.

7 Al cabo de cuarenta años, Absalón dijo al rey: “Por favor, déjame ir a pagar mi voto, que he hecho a Yahvé, en Hebrón.

It happened at the end of four years, that Absalom said to the king, "Please let me go and pay my vow, which I have vowed to the LORD, in Hebron.

8 Porque tu siervo hizo un voto mientras estaba en Guesur, en Siria, diciendo: “Si Yahvé me hace volver a Jerusalén, entonces serviré a Yahvé.”

For your servant vowed a vow while I stayed at Geshur in Aram, saying, 'If the LORD will bring me back to Jerusalem, then I will serve the LORD in Hebron.'"

9 El rey le dijo: “Ve en paz”. Así que se levantó y se dirigió a Hebrón.

The king said to him, "Go in peace." So he arose, and went to Hebron.

10 Pero Absalón envió espías por todas las tribus de Israel, diciendo: “En cuanto oigan el sonido de la trompeta, dirán: “¡Absalón es rey en Hebrón!””

But Absalom sent spies throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, "As soon as you hear the sound of the trumpet, then you shall say, 'Absalom is king in Hebron.'"

11 Doscientos hombres salieron con Absalón de Jerusalén, que fueron invitados, y fueron en su sencillez; y no sabían nada.

Two hundred men went with Absalom out of Jerusalem, who were invited, and went in their simplicity; and they did not know anything.

12 Absalón mandó llamar a Ajitofel el gilonita, consejero de David, desde su ciudad, desde Giloh, mientras ofrecía los sacrificios. La conspiración era fuerte, pues el pueblo aumentaba continuamente con Absalón.

And he sent and invited Ahithophel the Gilonite, David's counselor, from his city Giloh, where he was offering sacrifice. The conspiracy was strong, for the people increased continually with Absalom.

13 Un mensajero llegó a David diciendo: “El corazón de los hombres de Israel está en pos de Absalón”.

A messenger came to David, saying, "The hearts of the men of Israel are after Absalom."

14 David dijo a todos sus servidores que estaban con él en Jerusalén: “¡Levántate! Huyamos, o ninguno de nosotros escapará de Absalón. Apresúrense a partir, no sea que nos alcance rápidamente y haga caer el mal sobre nosotros, y golpee la ciudad con el filo de la espada.”

So David said to all his servants who were with him at Jerusalem, "Arise, and let us flee, otherwise none of us shall escape from Absalom. Go immediately, or else he will quickly overtake us and bring down the city on top of us, and strike the city with the edge of the sword."

15 Los siervos del rey dijeron al rey: “He aquí que tus siervos están dispuestos a hacer lo que mi señor el rey quiera”.

Then the king's servants said to him, "Look, your servants are ready to do whatever the king chooses."

16 El rey salió, y toda su casa tras él. El rey dejó a diez mujeres, que eran concubinas, para que cuidaran la casa.

And the king went out with all his household following him. But the king left ten women, who were secondary wives, to take care of the palace.

17 El rey salió, y todo el pueblo tras él; y se quedaron en Bet Merac.

So the king went out with all his servants following him, and they stopped at the last house.

18 Todos sus siervos pasaron junto a él, y todos los cereteos, los peleteos y los gitanos, seiscientos hombres que vinieron tras él desde Gat, pasaron delante del rey.

And all the people passed on before him. And all those with him, all the officers and warriors, were six hundred men, and they passed on before him. And when all the Cherethites and all the Pelethites and all the Gittites who followed him from Gath passed on before the king.

19 Entonces el rey le dijo a Ittai el gita: “¿Por qué también tú vas con nosotros? Regresa y quédate con el rey, pues eres extranjero y también desterrado. Vuelve a tu lugar.

Then the king said to Ittai the Gittite, "Why do you also go with us? Go back and stay with the king, for you are a foreigner and you also are an exile from your place.

20 Ya que viniste ayer, ¿he de hacerte subir y bajar hoy con nosotros, ya que yo voy donde puedo? Vuelve y recupera a tus hermanos. La misericordia y la verdad sean contigo”.

You came only yesterday. Should I today make you wander about with us, since I go I know not where? Go back, and take your brothers with you, and may the LORD show you kindness and truth."

21 Ittai respondió al rey y dijo: “Vive Yahvé y vive mi señor el rey, ciertamente en el lugar en que esté mi señor el rey, ya sea para la muerte o para la vida, tu siervo estará también allí.”

Ittai answered the king, and said, "As the LORD lives, and as my lord the king lives, surely in what place my lord shall be, whether for death or for life, even there also will your servant be."

22 David dijo a Ittai: “Ve y pasa”. Pasó Ittai, el getita, y todos sus hombres, y todos los pequeños que estaban con él.

So David said to Ittai, "Go and pass over." Then Ittai passed over, and all his men, and all the little ones who were with him.

23 Todo el país lloró a gritos, y todo el pueblo pasó. También el rey pasó el arroyo de Cedrón, y todo el pueblo pasó hacia el camino del desierto.

And all the land wept aloud as all the people crossed over. And the king crossed the Wadi Kidron, and all the people passed before him on the Olive road into the wilderness.

24 También vino Sadoc, y con él todos los levitas, llevando el arca del pacto de Dios, y depositaron el arca de Dios; y Abiatar subió hasta que todo el pueblo terminó de salir de la ciudad.

And look, Zadok also came (and all the Levites with him, bearing the ark of the covenant of the LORD) and Abiathar. And they set down the ark of God until all the people finished passing by from the city.

25 El rey dijo a Sadoc: “Lleva el arca de Dios de vuelta a la ciudad. Si hallo gracia ante los ojos de Yahvé, él me hará volver, y me mostrará tanto ella como su morada;

The king said to Zadok, "Return the ark of God to the city. If I find favor in the eyes of the LORD, he will bring me back and show me both it and his dwelling place;

26 pero si dice: ‘No me complaces’, aquí estoy. Que haga conmigo lo que le parezca bien”.

but if he should say, 'I have no delight in you;' look, here I am. Let him do to me as seems good to him."

27 El rey dijo también al sacerdote Sadoc: “¿No eres vidente? Vuelve a la ciudad en paz, y tus dos hijos contigo, Ahimaas tu hijo y Jonatán el hijo de Abiatar.

And the king said also to Zadok the priest, "Look, you return into the city in peace, and your two sons with you, Ahimaaz your son, and Jonathan the son of Abiathar.

28 Yo me quedaré en los vados del desierto hasta que me llegue una noticia tuya para informarme.”

Look, I will wait at the fords of the wilderness until word comes from you to inform me."

29 Así pues, Sadoc y Abiatar volvieron a llevar el arca de Dios a Jerusalén, y se quedaron allí.

So Zadok and Abiathar carried the ark to Jerusalem and returned it there.

30 David subió por la cuesta del monte de los Olivos, y lloró al subir; se cubrió la cabeza y fue descalzo. Todo el pueblo que estaba con él se cubrió la cabeza, y subieron llorando.

And David went up by the Ascent of the Olives, and wept as he went, and he had his head covered and went barefoot. And all the people who were with him covered their heads, and they went up weeping as they went.

31 Alguien le dijo a David: “Ajitófel está entre los conspiradores con Absalón”. David dijo: “Yahvé, por favor, convierte el consejo de Ajitófel en una tontería”.

And it had been told to David, saying, "Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom." David said, "LORD, please turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness."

32 Cuando David llegó a la cima, donde se adoraba a Dios, he aquí que Husai el arquita salió a su encuentro con la túnica rota y tierra en la cabeza.

It happened that when David had come to the top, where God was worshiped, look, Hushai the Archite came to meet him with his coat torn, and earth on his head.

33 David le dijo: “Si pasas conmigo, serás una carga para mí;

David said to him, "If you pass on with me, then you will be a burden to me;

34 pero si vuelves a la ciudad y le dices a Absalón: “Seré tu siervo, oh rey. Como he sido siervo de tu padre en el pasado, así seré ahora tu siervo; entonces derrotarás para mí el consejo de Ajitófel.’

but if you return to the city, and tell Absalom, 'Your brothers have left, O king, after your father left, and now I am your servant, O king. Allow me to live. As I have been your father's servant in the past, so now I am your servant,' then you will defeat for me the counsel of Ahithophel.

35 ¿No tienes allí contigo a los sacerdotes Sadoc y Abiatar? Por tanto, todo lo que oigas de la casa del rey, dilo a los sacerdotes Sadoc y Abiatar.

And look, Zadok and Abiathar the priests will be there with you. So whatever you hear from the king's house you must tell it to Zadok and Abiathar the priests.

36 He aquí que tienen allí con ellos a sus dos hijos, Ahimaas, hijo de Sadoc, y Jonatán, hijo de Abiatar. Envíame todo lo que oigas por ellos”.

Look, their two sons are with them there, Ahimaaz, Zadok's son, and Jonathan, Abiathar's son. And by them you must send to me everything that you hear."

37 Entonces Husai, amigo de David, entró en la ciudad; y Absalón entró en Jerusalén.

So Hushai, David's friend, came into the city; and Absalom came into Jerusalem.
