2 Reyes 9
1 El profeta Eliseo llamó a uno de los hijos de los profetas y le dijo: “Ponte el cinturón en la cintura, toma esta vasija de aceite en tu mano y ve a Ramot de Galaad.
Elisha the prophet called one of the sons of the prophets and said to him, “Dress for travel, then take this little bottle of oil in your hand and go to Ramoth Gilead.
2 Cuando llegues allí, busca a Jehú, hijo de Josafat, hijo de Nimsí, y entra y haz que se levante de entre sus hermanos, y llévalo a una habitación interior.
When you arrive, look for Jehu son of Jehoshaphat son of Nimshi, and go in and make him arise up from among his companions, and conduct him to an inner chamber.
3 Luego toma la vasija de aceite y derrámala sobre su cabeza, y di: “Yahvé dice: “Te he ungido como rey sobre Israel””. Entonces abre la puerta, huye y no esperes”.
Then take the bottle of oil and pour it on his head and say, 'Yahweh says this: “I have anointed you king over Israel.”' Then open the door, and run off; do not delay.”
4 El joven profeta fue a Ramot de Galaad.
So the young man, the young prophet, went to Ramoth Gilead.
5 Cuando llegó, he aquí que los capitanes del ejército estaban sentados. Entonces dijo: “Tengo un mensaje para ti, capitán”. Jehú dijo: “¿A quién de nosotros?” Dijo: “A ti, oh capitán”.
When he arrived, behold, the captains of the army were sitting. So the young prophet said, “I have come on an errand to you, captain.” Jehu replied, “To which of us?” The young prophet answered, “To you, captain.”
6 Se levantó y entró en la casa. Luego derramó el aceite sobre su cabeza y le dijo: “Yahvé, el Dios de Israel, dice: ‘Te he ungido rey sobre el pueblo de Yahvé, sobre Israel.
So Jehu arose and went into the house, and the prophet poured the oil on his head and said to Jehu, “Yahweh, the God of Israel, says this: 'I have anointed you king over the people of Yahweh, over Israel.
7 Debes golpear la casa de tu amo Ajab, para que yo vengue la sangre de mis siervos los profetas, y la sangre de todos los siervos de Yahvé, a manos de Jezabel.
You must kill the family of Ahab your master, so that I may avenge the blood of my servants the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of Yahweh, who were murdered by the hand of Jezebel.
8 Porque toda la casa de Ajab perecerá. Cortaré de Ajab a todo el que orine contra una pared, tanto al que está encerrado como al que queda suelto en Israel.
For the whole family of Ahab will perish, and I will cut off from Ahab every male child, whether he is a slave or a free person.
9 Haré que la casa de Acab sea como la casa de Jeroboam, hijo de Nabat, y como la casa de Baasa, hijo de Ahías.
I will make the house of Ahab like the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat and like the house of Baasha son of Ahijah.
10 Los perros se comerán a Jezabel en la parcela de Jezreel, y no habrá quien la entierre.’” Entonces abrió la puerta y huyó.
The dogs will eat Jezebel in Jezreel, and there will be no one to bury her.'” Then the prophet opened the door and ran off.
11 Cuando Jehú salió a ver a los siervos de su señor y uno le dijo: “¿Está todo bien? ¿Por qué ha venido a ti este loco?” Les dijo: “Ya conocéis al hombre y su forma de hablar”.
Then Jehu came out to the servants of his master, and one said to him, “Is everything alright? Why did this mad fellow come to you?” Jehu answered them, “You know the man and the kinds of things he says.”
12 Ellos dijeron: “Eso es mentira. Dinos ahora”. Me dijo: “Dice Yahvé que te he ungido como rey de Israel”.
They said, “That is a lie. Tell us.” Jehu answered, “He said this and that to me, and he also said, 'This is what Yahweh says: I have anointed you as king over Israel.'”
13 Entonces se apresuraron, y cada uno tomó su manto y lo puso debajo de él en lo alto de la escalera, y tocaron la trompeta, diciendo: “Jehú es rey.”
Then each of them quickly took off his outer garment and put it under Jehu at the top of the steps. They blew the trumpet and said, “Jehu is king.”
14 Entonces Jehú, hijo de Josafat, hijo de Nimsí, conspiró contra Joram. (Joram estaba defendiendo Ramot de Galaad, él y todo Israel, a causa de Hazael, rey de Siria;
In this way Jehu son of Jehoshaphat son of Nimshi conspired against Joram. Now Joram had been defending Ramoth Gilead, he and all Israel, because of Hazael king of Aram,
15 pero el rey Joram había regresado para curarse en Jezreel de las heridas que los sirios le habían hecho cuando luchó con Hazael, rey de Siria). Jehú dijo: “Si este es tu pensamiento, que nadie se escape y salga de la ciudad para ir a contarlo en Jezreel”.
but King Joram had gone back to Jezreel to be healed of the wounds that the Arameans had given him, when he had fought against Hazael king of Aram. Jehu said to the servants of Joram, “If this is your opinion, then let no one escape and go out of the city, in order to go tell this news in Jezreel.”
16 Así que Jehú montó en un carro y fue a Jezreel, pues Joram yacía allí. Ocozías, rey de Judá, había bajado a ver a Joram.
So Jehu rode in a chariot to Jezreel; for Joram was resting there. Now Ahaziah king of Judah had come down to see Joram.
17 El centinela estaba en la torre de Jezreel, y al ver que llegaba la compañía de Jehú, dijo: “Veo una compañía.” Joram dijo: “Toma un jinete y envía a recibirlos, y que diga: “¿Hay paz?”.
The watchman was standing on the tower in Jezreel, and he saw the company of Jehu as he came at a distance; he said, “I see a group of men coming.” Joram said, “Take a horseman, and send him out to meet them; tell him to say, 'Are you coming in peace?'”
18 Entonces uno fue a caballo a su encuentro y dijo: “El rey dice: “¿Es la paz?” Jehú dijo: “¿Qué tienes que ver con la paz? Ponte detrás de mí”. El vigilante dijo: “El mensajero vino a ellos, pero no vuelve”.
So a man was sent on horseback to meet him; he said, “The king says this: 'Are coming in peace?'” So Jehu said, “What have you to do with peace? Turn and ride behind me.” Then the watchman told the king, “The messenger has met them, but he is not coming back.”
19 Entonces envió a un segundo a caballo, que se acercó a ellos y les dijo: “El rey dice: “¿Hay paz?”. Jehú respondió: “¿Qué tienes que ver con la paz? Ponte detrás de mí”.
Then he sent out a second man on horseback, who came to them and said, “The king says this: 'Are you coming in peace?'” Jehu answered, “What have you to do with peace? Turn and ride behind me.”
20 El vigilante dijo: “Ha venido hacia ellos y no vuelve. La conducción es como la de Jehú, hijo de Nimsí, pues conduce con furia”.
Again the watchman reported, “He has met them, but he is not coming back. For the way that the chariot is being driven is the way that Jehu son of Nimshi drives; he is driving wildly.”
21 Joram dijo: “¡Prepárate!” Prepararon su carro. Entonces salieron Joram, rey de Israel, y Ocozías, rey de Judá, cada uno en su carro; y salieron al encuentro de Jehú, y lo encontraron en la tierra de Nabot el jezreelita.
So Joram said, “Get my chariot ready.” They prepared his chariot, and Joram king of Israel and Ahaziah king of Judah rode out, each in his chariot, to meet Jehu. They found him at the property of Naboth the Jezreelite.
22 Cuando Joram vio a Jehú, le dijo: “¿Hay paz, Jehú?” Respondió: “¿Qué paz, mientras abunden la prostitución de tu madre Jezabel y sus brujerías?”
When Joram saw Jehu, he said, “Are you coming in peace, Jehu?” He answered, “What peace is there, when the idolatrous acts of prostitution and witchcraft of your mother Jezebel are so many?”
23 Joram volvió las manos y huyó, y dijo a Ocozías: “¡Esto es traición, Ocozías!”
So Joram turned his chariot and fled and said to Ahaziah, “There is treachery, Ahaziah.”
24 Jehú tensó su arco con todas sus fuerzas, e hirió a Joram entre sus brazos; la flecha le salió al corazón, y se hundió en su carro.
Then Jehu drew his bow with his full strength and shot Joram between his shoulders; the arrow went through his heart, and he sank down in his chariot.
25 Entonces Jehú dijo a Bidkar, su capitán: “Recógelo y arrójalo en la parcela del campo de Nabot el jezreelita; pues recuerda que cuando tú y yo cabalgábamos juntos tras su padre Ajab, Yahvé le impuso esta carga:
Then Jehu said to Bidkar his captain, “Pick him up and throw him in the field of Naboth the Jezreelite. Think about how when you and I rode together after Ahab his father, Yahweh placed this prophecy against him:
26 ‘Ciertamente he visto ayer la sangre de Nabot y la sangre de sus hijos’, dice Yahvé; ‘y te pagaré en esta parcela’, dice Yahvé. Ahora, pues, tómalo y échalo en la parcela, según la palabra de Yahvé”.
'Yesterday I saw the blood of Naboth and the blood of his sons—declares Yahweh—and I will surely make you pay for it on this field—declares Yahweh. Now then, pick him up and throw him on this field, according to the word of Yahweh.”
27 Al ver esto, Ocozías, rey de Judá, huyó por el camino de la casa del jardín. Jehú lo siguió, y dijo: “¡Hiéranlo también en el carro!” Lo hirieron en la subida de Gur, que está junto a Ibleam. Huyó a Meguido, y allí murió.
When Ahaziah the king of Judah saw this, he fled up the road to Beth Haggan. But Jehu followed him, and said, “Kill him also in the chariot,” and they shot him at the ascent of Gur, which is by Ibleam. Ahaziah fled to Megiddo and died there.
28 Sus servidores lo llevaron en un carro a Jerusalén, y lo enterraron en su tumba con sus padres en la ciudad de David.
His servants carried his body in a chariot to Jerusalem and buried him in his tomb with his fathers in the city of David.
29 En el undécimo año de Joram, hijo de Ajab, Ocozías comenzó a reinar sobre Judá.
Now it was in the eleventh year of Joram son of Ahab that Ahaziah had begun to reign over Judah.
30 Cuando Jehú llegó a Jezreel, Jezabel se enteró, y se pintó los ojos, se adornó la cabeza y se asomó a la ventana.
When Jehu came to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it, and she painted her eyes, arranged her hair, and looked out the window.
31 Cuando Jehú entró por la puerta, ella dijo: “¿Vienes en paz, Zimri, asesino de tu señor?”
As Jehu was entering the gate, she said to him, “Are you coming in peace, you Zimri, your master's murderer?”
32 Levantó el rostro hacia la ventana y dijo: “¿Quién está de mi lado? ¿Quién?” Dos o tres eunucos le miraron.
Jehu looked up at the window and said, “Who is on my side? Who?” Then two or three eunuchs looked out.
33 Él dijo: “¡Tírala!” Entonces la arrojaron al suelo, y parte de su sangre fue rociada sobre el muro y sobre los caballos. Entonces él la pisoteó.
So Jehu said, “Throw her down.” So they threw Jezebel down, and some of her blood spattered on the wall and the horses, and Jehu trampled her underfoot.
34 Cuando entró, comió y bebió. Luego dijo: “Encargaos ahora de esta mujer maldita y enterradla, porque es hija de un rey”.
When Jehu entered the palace, he ate and drank. Then he said, “See now to this cursed woman and bury her, for she is a king's daughter.”
35 Fueron a enterrarla, pero no encontraron de ella más que el cráneo, los pies y las palmas de las manos.
They went to bury her, but they found no more of her than the skull, the feet, and the palms of her hands.
36 Volvieron, pues, y le contaron. Dijo: “Esta es la palabra de Yahvé, que habló por medio de su siervo Elías el tisbita, diciendo: ‘Los perros comerán la carne de Jezabel en la parcela de Jezreel,
So they came back and told Jehu. He said, “This is the word of Yahweh which he spoke by his servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, 'In the land at Jezreel the dogs will eat the flesh of Jezebel,
37 y el cuerpo de Jezebel será como estiércol en la superficie del campo en la tierra de Jezreel, para que no digan: “Esta es Jezebel””.
and the body of Jezebel will be like dung on the surface of the fields in the land at Jezreel, so that no one will be able to say, “This is Jezebel.”'”
