2 Crónicas 13

1 En el año dieciocho del rey Jeroboam, Abías comenzó a reinar sobre Judá.

In the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam began Abijah to reign over Judah.

2 Reinó tres años en Jerusalén. Su madre se llamaba Micaías, hija de Uriel de Guibeá. Hubo guerra entre Abías y Jeroboam.

Three years reigned he in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Micaiah the daughter of Uriel of Gibeah. And there was war between Abijah and Jeroboam.

3 Abías se alistó en la batalla con un ejército de valientes hombres de guerra, cuatrocientos mil hombres escogidos, y Jeroboam preparó la batalla contra él con ochocientos mil hombres escogidos, que eran hombres valientes.

And Abijah joined battle with an army of valiant men of war, even four hundred thousand chosen men; and Jeroboam set the battle in array against him with eight hundred thousand chosen men, who were mighty men of valour.

4 Abías se levantó en el monte Zemaraim, que está en la región montañosa de Efraín, y dijo: “Oídme, Jeroboam y todo Israel:

And Abijah stood up upon mount Zemaraim, which is in the hill-country of Ephraim, and said: 'Hear me, O Jeroboam and all Israel;

5 ¿No sabéis que Yahvé, el Dios de Israel, dio el reino sobre Israel a David para siempre, a él y a sus hijos por un pacto de sal?

ought ye not to know that the LORD, the God of Israel, gave the kingdom over Israel to David for ever, even to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt?

6 Pero Jeroboam, hijo de Nabat, siervo de Salomón, hijo de David, se levantó y se rebeló contra su señor.

Yet Jeroboam the son of Nebat, the servant of Solomon the son of David, rose up, and rebelled against his lord.

7 Se juntaron con él hombres inútiles, compañeros perversos que se fortalecieron contra Roboam hijo de Salomón, cuando Roboam era joven y de corazón tierno, y no pudo resistirlos.

And there were gathered unto him vain men, base fellows that strengthened themselves against Rehoboam the son of Solomon, when Rehoboam was young and faint-hearted, and could not withstand them.

8 “Ahora pretendéis resistir el reino de Yahvé en manos de los hijos de David. Sois una gran multitud, y los becerros de oro que Jeroboam os hizo como dioses están con vosotros.

And now ye think to withstand the kingdom of the LORD in the hand of the sons of David; and ye are a great multitude, and there are with you the golden calves which Jeroboam made you for gods.

9 ¿No habéis expulsado a los sacerdotes de Yahvé, a los hijos de Aarón y a los levitas, y os habéis hecho sacerdotes según las costumbres de los pueblos de otras tierras? El que viene a consagrarse con un novillo y siete carneros puede ser sacerdote de los que no son dioses.

Have ye not driven out the priests of the LORD, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and have made you priests after the manner of the peoples of other lands? so that whosoever cometh to consecrate himself with a young bullock and seven rams, the same becometh a priest of them that are no gods.

10 “Pero en cuanto a nosotros, Yahvé es nuestro Dios, y no lo hemos abandonado. Tenemos sacerdotes que sirven a Yahvé, los hijos de Aarón y los levitas en su trabajo.

But as for us, the LORD is our God, and we have not forsaken Him; and we have priests ministering unto the LORD, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites in their work;

11 Ellos queman a Yahvé todas las mañanas y todas las tardes holocaustos e incienso aromático. También ponen en orden el pan de la feria en la mesa pura, y cuidan el candelabro de oro con sus lámparas, para que ardan todas las tardes; porque nosotros guardamos la instrucción de Yahvé, nuestro Dios, pero ustedes lo han abandonado.

and they burn unto the LORD every morning and every evening burnt-offerings and sweet incense; the showbread also set they in order upon the pure table; and the candlestick of gold with the lamps thereof, to burn every evening; for we keep the charge of the LORD our God; but ye have forsaken Him.

12 He aquí que Dios está con nosotros a la cabeza, y sus sacerdotes con las trompetas de alarma para dar la alarma contra vosotros. Hijos de Israel, no luchéis contra Yahvé, el Dios de vuestros padres, porque no prosperaréis.”

And, behold, God is with us at our head, and His priests with the trumpets of alarm to sound an alarm against you. O children of Israel, fight ye not against the LORD, the God of your fathers; for ye shall not prosper.'

13 Pero Jeroboam hizo que se formara una emboscada detrás de ellos; así que estaban delante de Judá, y la emboscada estaba detrás de ellos.

But Jeroboam caused an ambushment to come about behind them; so they were before Judah, and the ambushment was behind them.

14 Cuando Judá miró hacia atrás, he aquí que la batalla estaba delante y detrás de ellos; y clamaron a Yahvé, y los sacerdotes tocaron las trompetas.

And when Judah looked back, behold, the battle was before and behind them; and they cried unto the LORD, and the priests sounded with the trumpets.

15 Entonces los hombres de Judá dieron un grito. Mientras los hombres de Judá gritaban, Dios hirió a Jeroboam y a todo Israel ante Abías y Judá.

Then the men of Judah gave a shout; and as the men of Judah shouted, it came to pass, that God smote Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah.

16 Los hijos de Israel huyeron ante Judá, y Dios los entregó en su mano.

And the children of Israel fled before Judah; and God delivered them into their hand.

17 Abías y su gente los mataron con gran mortandad, de modo que quinientos mil hombres escogidos de Israel cayeron muertos.

And Abijah and his people slew them with a great slaughter; so there fell down slain of Israel five hundred thousand chosen men.

18 Así fueron doblegados los hijos de Israel en aquel tiempo, y los hijos de Judá prevalecieron, porque se apoyaron en Yahvé, el Dios de sus padres.

Thus the children of Israel were brought under at that time, and the children of Judah prevailed, because they relied upon the LORD, the God of their fathers.

19 Abías persiguió a Jeroboam y le arrebató ciudades: Betel con sus aldeas, Jeshana con sus aldeas y Efrón con sus aldeas.

And Abijah pursued after Jeroboam, and took cities from him, Bethel with the towns thereof, and Jeshanah with the towns thereof, and Ephrain with the towns thereof.

20 Jeroboam no volvió a recuperar fuerzas en los días de Abías. El Señor lo hirió y murió.

Neither did Jeroboam recover strength again in the days of Abijah; and the LORD smote him, and he died.

21 Pero Abías se hizo poderoso y tomó para sí catorce esposas, y fue padre de veintidós hijos y dieciséis hijas.

But Abijah waxed mighty, and took unto himself fourteen wives, and begot twenty and two sons, and sixteen daughters.

22 El resto de los hechos de Abías, sus caminos y sus dichos están escritos en el comentario del profeta Iddo.

And the rest of the acts of Abijah, and his ways, and his sayings, are written in the commentary of the prophet Iddo.
