1 Timoteo 6
1 Todos los que son siervos bajo el yugo consideren a sus propios amos dignos de toda honra, para que el nombre de Dios y la doctrina no sean blasfemados.
Whosoever are servants under the yoke, let them count their masters worthy of all honour; lest the name of the Lord and his doctrine be blasphemed.
2 Los que tienen amos creyentes, que no los desprecien por ser hermanos, sino que los sirvan, porque los que participan del beneficio son creyentes y amados. Enseña y exhorta estas cosas.
But they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but serve them the rather, because they are faithful and beloved, who are partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort.
3 Si alguno enseña una doctrina diferente y no se aviene a las sanas palabras, a las palabras de nuestro Señor Jesucristo y a la doctrina que es conforme a la piedad,
If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to that doctrine which is according to godliness,
4 es un engreído, que no sabe nada, sino que está obsesionado con discusiones, disputas y batallas de palabras, de las que surgen envidias, contiendas, injurias, malas sospechas,
He is proud, knowing nothing, but sick about questions and strifes of words; from which arise envies, contentions, blasphemies, evil suspicions,
5 roces constantes de personas de mente corrompida y destituidas de la verdad, que suponen que la piedad es un medio de ganancia. Apártate de los tales.
Conflicts of men corrupted in mind, and who are destitute of the truth, supposing gain to be godliness.
6 Pero la piedad con satisfacción es una gran ganancia.
But godliness with contentment is great gain.
7 Porque nada hemos traído al mundo, y ciertamente nada podemos llevar a cabo.
For we brought nothing into this world: and certainly we can carry nothing out.
8 Pero teniendo alimento y vestido, nos contentaremos con eso.
But having food, and wherewith to be covered, with these we are content.
9 Pero los que se empeñan en ser ricos caen en una tentación, en un lazo y en muchas codicias necias y perjudiciales, que ahogan a los hombres en la ruina y la destrucción.
For they that will become rich, fall into temptation, and into the snare of the devil, and into many unprofitable and hurtful desires, which drown men into destruction and perdition.
10 Porque el amor al dinero es raíz de toda clase de males. Algunos se han desviado de la fe por su avaricia, y se han atravesado con muchos dolores.
For the desire of money is the root of all evils; which some coveting have erred from the faith, and have entangled themselves in many sorrows.
11 Pero tú, hombre de Dios, huye de estas cosas y sigue la justicia, la piedad, la fe, el amor, la perseverancia y la mansedumbre.
But thou, O man of God, fly these things: and pursue justice, godliness, faith, charity, patience, mildness.
12 Pelea la buena batalla de la fe. Aférrate a la vida eterna a la que has sido llamado, y has confesado la buena confesión a la vista de muchos testigos. (aiōnios g166)
Fight the good fight of faith: lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art called, and hast confessed a good confession before many witnesses. (aiōnios g166)
13 Os ordeno ante Dios, que da vida a todas las cosas, y ante Cristo Jesús, que ante Poncio Pilato dio testimonio de la buena confesión,
I charge thee before God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who gave testimony under Pontius Pilate, a good confession,
14 que guardéis el mandamiento sin mancha, irreprochables hasta la aparición de nuestro Señor Jesucristo,
That thou keep the commandment without spot, blameless, unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15 que en el momento oportuno mostrará, que es el bendito y único Gobernante, el Rey de reyes y Señor de señores.
Which in his times he shall shew who is the Blessed and only Mighty, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
16 Sólo él tiene la inmortalidad, que habita en una luz inaccesible, a quien nadie ha visto ni puede ver, a quien corresponde el honor y el poder eterno. Amén. (aiōnios g166)
Who only hath immortality, and inhabiteth light inaccessible, whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and empire everlasting. Amen. (aiōnios g166)
17 Pide a los que son ricos en este tiempo que no sean arrogantes, ni tengan su esperanza puesta en la incertidumbre de las riquezas, sino en el Dios vivo, que nos provee ricamente de todo para que lo disfrutemos; (aiōn g165)
Charge the rich of this world not to be highminded, nor to trust in the uncertainty of riches, but in the living God, (who giveth us abundantly all things to enjoy, ) (aiōn g165)
18 que hagan el bien, que sean ricos en buenas obras, que estén dispuestos a repartir, deseosos de compartir;
To do good, to be rich in good works, to give easily, to communicate to others,
19 acumulando para sí un buen fundamento para el tiempo venidero, para que puedan echar mano de la vida eterna.
To lay up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on the true life.
20 Timoteo, guarda lo que se te ha encomendado, apartándote de la palabrería vacía y de las oposiciones de lo que se llama falsamente conocimiento,
O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding the profane novelties of words, and oppositions of knowledge falsely so called.
21 que algunos profesan, y así se han desviado de la fe. Que la gracia sea contigo. Amén.
Which some promising, have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.
