1 Samuel 8

1 Cuando Samuel envejeció, puso a sus hijos como jueces de Israel.

When Samuel was nowe become olde, he made his sonnes Iudges ouer Israel.

2 El nombre de su primogénito fue Joel, y el del segundo, Abías. Fueron jueces en Beerseba.

(And the name of his eldest sonne was Ioel, and the name of the second Abiah) euen Iudges in Beer-sheba.

3 Sus hijos no siguieron sus caminos, sino que se apartaron en pos de ganancias deshonestas, aceptaron sobornos y pervirtieron la justicia.

And his sonnes walked not in his wayes, but turned aside after lucre, and tooke rewards, and peruerted the iudgement.

4 Entonces se reunieron todos los ancianos de Israel y vinieron a Samuel a Ramá.

Wherefore all the Elders of Israel gathered them together, and came to Samuel vnto Ramah,

5 Le dijeron: “Mira que eres viejo, y tus hijos no andan por tus caminos. Haznos ahora un rey que nos juzgue como a todas las naciones”.

And said vnto him, Beholde, thou art olde, and thy sonnes walke not in thy wayes: make vs nowe a King to iudge vs like all nations.

6 Pero a Samuel le disgustó que dijeran: “Danos un rey que nos juzgue”. Samuel oró a Yahvé.

But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Giue vs a King to iudge vs: and Samuel prayed vnto the Lord.

7 Yahvé le dijo a Samuel: “Escucha la voz del pueblo en todo lo que te diga; porque no te han rechazado a ti, sino que me han rechazado a mí como rey sobre ellos.

And the Lord said vnto Samuel, Heare the voyce of the people in all that they shall say vnto thee: for they haue not cast thee away, but they haue cast me away, that I should not reigne ouer the.

8 Según todas las obras que han hecho desde el día en que los saqué de Egipto hasta hoy, en que me han abandonado y han servido a otros dioses, así hacen también contigo.

As they haue euer done since I brought them out of Egypt euen vnto this day, (and haue forsaken me, and serued other gods) euen so doe they vnto thee.

9 Ahora, pues, escucha su voz. Sin embargo, protestarás solemnemente ante ellos, y les mostrarás el camino del rey que reinará sobre ellos.”

Nowe therefore hearken vnto their voyce: howbeit yet testifie vnto them, and shewe them the maner of ye King that shall reigne ouer them.

10 Samuel contó todas las palabras de Yahvé al pueblo que le pedía un rey.

So Samuel told all the wordes of the Lord vnto the people that asked a King of him.

11 Dijo: “Este será el camino del rey que reinará sobre ustedes: tomará a sus hijos y los designará como sus servidores, para sus carros y para ser sus jinetes; y correrán delante de sus carros.

And he saide, This shall be the maner of the King that shall reigne ouer you: he will take your sonnes, and appoint them to his charets, and to be his horsemen, and some shall runne before his charet.

12 Los nombrará para él como capitanes de millares y capitanes de cincuenta; y asignará a algunos para arar su tierra y segar su cosecha, y para hacer sus instrumentos de guerra y los instrumentos de sus carros.

Also he will make them his captaines ouer thousands, and captaines ouer fifties, and to eare his ground, and to reape his haruest, and to make instruments of warre, and the thinges that serue for his charets.

13 Tomará a vuestras hijas para que sean perfumistas, cocineras y panaderas.

He will also take your daughters and make them apoticaries, and cookes, and bakers.

14 Tomará tus campos, tus viñedos y tus olivares, incluso los mejores, y los dará a sus siervos.

And he will take your fieldes, and your vineyardes, and your best Oliue trees, and giue them to his seruants.

15 Tomará la décima parte de tus semillas y de tus viñedos, y se la dará a sus funcionarios y a sus siervos.

And he will take the tenth of your seede, and of your vineyards, and giue it to his Eunuches, and to his seruants.

16 Tomará tus siervos, tus siervas, tus mejores jóvenes y tus asnos, y los destinará a su propio trabajo.

And he will take your men seruants, and your maide seruants, and the chiefe of your yong men, and your asses, and put them to his worke.

17 Tomará la décima parte de vuestros rebaños, y vosotros seréis sus siervos.

He will take the tenth of your sheepe, and ye shall be his seruants.

18 Aquel día gritaréis a causa de vuestro rey que habréis elegido para vosotros, y el Señor no os responderá en aquel día.”

And ye shall crie out at that day, because of your King, whom ye haue chosen you, and the Lord will not heare you at that day.

19 Pero el pueblo se negó a escuchar la voz de Samuel y dijo: “No, sino que tendremos un rey sobre nosotros,

But the people would not heare the voyce of Samuel, but did say, Nay, but there shall be a King ouer vs.

20 para que también seamos como todas las naciones, y para que nuestro rey nos juzgue y salga delante de nosotros y pelee nuestras batallas.”

And we also will be like all other nations, and our King shall iudge vs, and goe out before vs, and fight our battels.

21 Samuel escuchó todas las palabras del pueblo y las ensayó en los oídos de Yahvé.

Therefore when Samuel heard all ye wordes of ye people, he rehearsed the in ye eares of ye Lord.

22 Yahvé dijo a Samuel: “Escucha su voz y hazles un rey”. Samuel dijo a los hombres de Israel: “Que cada uno se vaya a su ciudad”.

And the Lord saide to Samuel, Hearken vnto their voyce, and make them a King. And Samuel said vnto the men of Israel, Goe euery man vnto his citie.
