1 Samuel 21
1 Entonces David vino a Nob a ver al sacerdote Ahimelec. Ahimelec salió al encuentro de David temblando y le dijo: “¿Por qué estás solo y no hay nadie contigo?”.
Then came David to Nob to Ahimelech the priest: and Ahimelech was afraid at the meeting of David, and said to him, Why [art] thou alone, and no man with thee?
2 David respondió al sacerdote Ahimelec: “El rey me ha mandado hacer algo y me ha dicho: ‘Que nadie sepa nada del asunto sobre el que te envío y de lo que te he mandado. He enviado a los jóvenes a un lugar determinado’.
And David said to Ahimelech the priest, The king hath commanded me a business, and hath said to me, Let no man know any thing of the business about which I send thee, and what I have commanded thee: and I have appointed [my] servants to such and such a place.
3 Ahora, pues, ¿qué hay bajo tu mano? Por favor, dame cinco panes en la mano, o lo que haya”.
Now therefore what is under thy hand? give [me] five [loaves of] bread in my hand, or what there is present.
4 El sacerdote respondió a David y le dijo: “No tengo pan común, pero hay pan sagrado; si tan sólo los jóvenes se hubieran apartado de las mujeres.”
And the priest answered David, and said, [There is] no common bread under my hand, but there is hallowed bread; if the young men have kept themselves at least from women.
5 David respondió al sacerdote y le dijo: “En verdad, las mujeres han sido apartadas de nosotros como de costumbre estos tres días. Cuando yo salí, los vasos de los jóvenes eran santos, aunque sólo era un viaje común. ¿Cuánto más entonces hoy serán santos sus vasos?”
And David answered the priest, and said to him, Of a truth women [have been] kept from us about these three days, since I came out, and the vessels of the young men are holy, and [the bread is] in a manner common, yes, though it were sanctified this day in the vessel.
6 Entonces el sacerdote le dio pan sagrado, pues allí no había más pan que el pan de muestra que se tomaba delante de Yahvé, para sustituirlo por pan caliente el día en que se quitaba.
So the priest gave him hallowed [bread]: for there was no bread there but the show-bread, that was taken from before the LORD, to put hot bread in the day when it was taken away.
7 Aquel día, un hombre de los siervos de Saúl estaba detenido ante el Señor, y se llamaba Doeg el edomita, el mejor de los pastores que pertenecían a Saúl.
Now a certain man of the servants of Saul [was] there that day, detained before the LORD; and his name [was] Doeg, an Edomite, the chief of the herdmen that [belonged] to Saul.
8 David dijo a Ajimelec: “¿No hay aquí bajo tu mano lanza o espada? Porque no he traído mi espada ni mis armas, porque el asunto del rey requería premura”.
And David said to Ahimelech, And is there not here under thy hand a spear or sword? for I have neither brought my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king's business required haste.
9 El sacerdote dijo: “Mira, la espada de Goliat el filisteo, a quien mataste en el valle de Elah, está aquí envuelta en un paño detrás del efod. Si quieres tomarla, tómala, pues aquí no hay otra más que esa”. David dijo: “No hay ninguno así. Dámelo”.
And the priest said, The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom thou slewest in the valley of Elah, behold, it [is here] wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod: if thou wilt take that, take [it]: for [there is] no other save that here. And David said, [There is] none like that; give it to me.
10 David se levantó y huyó aquel día por miedo a Saúl, y se dirigió a Aquis, rey de Gat.
And David arose, and fled that day for fear of Saul, and went to Achish the king of Gath.
11 Los servidores de Aquis le dijeron: “¿No es éste David el rey del país? ¿No se cantaban unos a otros sobre él en las danzas, diciendo, ‘Saúl ha matado a sus miles, ¿y David sus diez mil?”
And the servants of Achish said to him, [Is] not this David the king of the land? did they not sing one to another of him in dances, saying, Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands?
12 David guardó estas palabras en su corazón, y tuvo mucho miedo de Aquis, rey de Gat.
And David laid up these words in his heart, and was greatly afraid of Achish the king of Gath.
13 Cambió su conducta ante ellos y se hizo pasar por loco en sus manos, y garabateó en las puertas de la puerta, y dejó que su saliva cayera sobre su barba.
And he changed his behavior before them, and feigned himself mad in their hands, and scrabbled on the doors of the gate, and let his spittle fall down upon his beard.
14 Entonces Aquis dijo a sus siervos: “Mirad, veis que el hombre está loco. ¿Por qué, pues, me lo habéis traído?
Then said Achish to his servants, Lo, ye see the man is mad: why [then] have ye brought him to me?
15 ¿Acaso me faltan locos, para que hayáis traído a este sujeto a hacer de loco en mi presencia? ¿Debe entrar este sujeto en mi casa?”
Have I need of mad-men, that ye have brought this [man] to play the mad-man in my presence? shall this [man] come into my house?
