1 Samuel 12

1 Samuel dijo a todo Israel: “He aquí que he escuchado vuestra voz en todo lo que me habéis dicho, y he puesto un rey sobre vosotros.

Samuel then said vnto all Israel, Behold, I haue hearkened vnto your voyce in all that yee sayde vnto mee, and haue appoynted a King ouer you.

2 Ahora, he aquí que el rey camina delante de ustedes. Yo soy viejo y canoso. He aquí que mis hijos están contigo. He caminado delante de ti desde mi juventud hasta hoy.

Now therefore behold, your King walketh before you, and I am old and graie headed, and beholde, my sonnes are with you: and I haue walked before you from my childehood vnto this day.

3 Aquí estoy. Atestigüen contra mí ante el Señor y ante su ungido. ¿De quién es el buey que he tomado? ¿De quién he tomado el asno? ¿A quién he defraudado? ¿A quién he oprimido? ¿De quién he tomado un soborno para que me ciegue los ojos? Te lo devolveré”.

Beholde, here I am: beare recorde of me before the Lord and before his Anointed. Whose oxe haue I taken? or whose asse haue I taken? or whome haue I done wrong to? or whome haue I hurt? or of whose hande haue I receiued any bribe, to blinde mine eyes therewith, and I will restore it you?

4 Dijeron: “No nos has defraudado, ni nos has oprimido, ni has tomado nada de la mano de nadie”.

Then they sayde, Thou hast done vs no wrong, nor hast hurt vs, neither hast thou taken ought of any mans hand.

5 Les dijo: “Yahvé es testigo contra vosotros, y su ungido es testigo hoy, de que no habéis encontrado nada en mi mano.” Dijeron: “Él es testigo”.

And he saide vnto them, The Lord is witnesse against you, and his Anointed is witnesse this day, that yee haue founde nought in mine handes. And they answered, He is witnesse.

6 Samuel dijo al pueblo: “Es Yahvé quien designó a Moisés y a Aarón, y quien sacó a vuestros padres de la tierra de Egipto.

Then Samuel sayde vnto the people, It is the Lord that made Moses and Aaron, and that brought your fathers out of the land of Egypt.

7 Ahora, pues, quédense quietos, para que yo pueda alegar ante Yahvé todos los actos justos de Yahvé, que hizo con ustedes y con sus padres.

Nowe therefore stand still, that I may reason with you before the Lord according to all the righteousnesse of the Lord, which he shewed to you and to your fathers.

8 “Cuando Jacob entró en Egipto, y vuestros padres clamaron a Yahvé, entonces Yahvé envió a Moisés y a Aarón, quienes sacaron a vuestros padres de Egipto y los hicieron habitar en este lugar.

After that Iaakob was come into Egypt, and your fathers cried vnto the Lord, then the Lord sent Moses and Aaron which brought your fathers out of Egypt, and made them dwell in this place.

9 Pero ellos se olvidaron de Yahvé, su Dios, y él los vendió en manos de Sísara, capitán del ejército de Hazor, y en manos de los filisteos, y en manos del rey de Moab; y pelearon contra ellos.

And when they forgate the Lord their God, he solde them into the hand of Sisera captaine of the hoste of Hazor, and into the hand of the Philistims, and into the hande of the king of Moab, and they fought against them.

10 Ellos clamaron a Yahvé y dijeron: “Hemos pecado, porque hemos abandonado a Yahvé y hemos servido a los baales y a Astarot; pero líbranos ahora de la mano de nuestros enemigos, y te serviremos”.

And they cried vnto the Lord, and saide, We haue sinned, because we haue forsaken the Lord, and haue serued Baalim and Ashtaroth. Nowe therefore deliuer vs out of the handes of our enemies, and we will serue thee.

11 Yahvé envió a Jerobaal, a Bedán, a Jefté y a Samuel, y os libró de la mano de vuestros enemigos de todas partes, y vivisteis seguros.

Therefore the Lord sent Ierubbaal and Bedan and Iphtaph, and Samuel, and deliuered you out of the handes of your enemies on euery side, and yee dwelled safe.

12 “Cuando viste que Nahas, el rey de los hijos de Amón, venía contra ti, me dijiste: ‘No, sino que un rey reinará sobre nosotros’, cuando Yahvé, tu Dios, era tu rey.

Notwithstanding when you sawe, that Nahash the King of the children of Ammon came against you, ye sayde vnto me, No, but a King shall reigne ouer vs: when yet the Lord your God was your King.

13 Ahora, pues, vean al rey que han elegido y al que han pedido. He aquí que el Señor ha puesto un rey sobre ustedes.

Nowe therefore beholde the King whome yee haue chosen, and whome yee haue desired: loe therefore, the Lord hath set a King ouer you.

14 Si temes a Yahvé, le sirves y escuchas su voz, y no te rebelas contra el mandamiento de Yahvé, tanto tú como el rey que reina sobre ti son seguidores de Yahvé vuestro Dios.

If ye wil feare the Lord and serue him, and heare his voyce, and not disobey the worde of the Lord, both yee, and the King that reigneth ouer you, shall follow the Lord your God.

15 Pero si no escuchan la voz de Yahvé y se rebelan contra el mandamiento de Yahvé, la mano de Yahvé estará contra ustedes, como lo estuvo contra sus padres.

But if yee will not obey the voyce of the Lord, but disobey the Lordes mouth, then shall the hand of the Lord be vpon you, and on your fathers.

16 “Ahora, pues, quédense quietos y vean esta gran cosa que el Señor va a hacer ante sus ojos.

Nowe also stande and see this great thing which the Lord will doe before your eyes.

17 ¿No es hoy la cosecha de trigo? Invocaré a Yahvé, para que envíe truenos y lluvia; y ustedes sabrán y verán que es grande la maldad que han hecho ante los ojos de Yahvé, al pedir un rey.”

Is it not nowe wheat haruest? I wil call vnto the Lord, and he shall send thunder and raine, that yee may perceiue and see, howe that your wickednesse is great, which ye haue done in the sight of the Lord in asking you a King.

18 Entonces Samuel invocó a Yahvé, y Yahvé envió truenos y lluvia aquel día. Entonces todo el pueblo temió mucho a Yahvé y a Samuel.

Then Samuel called vnto the Lord, and the Lord sent thunder and raine the same day: and all the people feared the Lord and Samuel exceedingly.

19 Todo el pueblo dijo a Samuel: “Ruega por tus siervos a Yahvé, tu Dios, para que no muramos, pues hemos añadido a todos nuestros pecados esta maldad de pedir un rey.”

And all the people said vnto Samuel, Pray for thy seruaunts vnto the Lord thy God, that we die not: for we haue sinned in asking vs a King, beside all our other sinnes.

20 Samuel dijo al pueblo: “No tengan miedo. Ciertamente han hecho todo este mal; pero no se aparten de seguir a Yahvé, sino que sirvan a Yahvé con todo su corazón.

And Samuel said vnto the people, Feare not. (ye haue indeede done all this wickednesse, yet depart not from following the Lord, but serue the Lord with all your heart,

21 No se aparten para ir en pos de cosas vanas que no pueden aprovechar ni liberar, porque son vanas.

Neither turne yee backe: for that shoulde be after vaine things which cannot profite you, nor deliuer you, for they are but vanitie)

22 Porque Yahvé no abandonará a su pueblo por causa de su gran nombre, porque a Yahvé le ha gustado hacer de ustedes un pueblo para sí mismo.

For the Lord will not forsake his people for his great Names sake: because it hath pleased the Lord to make you his people.

23 Además, en cuanto a mí, lejos de pecar contra Yahvé al dejar de orar por ustedes, los instruiré en el camino bueno y correcto.

Moreouer God forbid, that I should sinne against the Lord, and cease praying for you, but I will shewe you the good and right way.

24 Sólo temed a Yahvé y servidle de verdad con todo vuestro corazón, pues considerad las grandes cosas que ha hecho por vosotros.

Therefore feare you the Lord, and serue him in the trueth with all your hearts, and consider howe great things he hath done for you.

25 Pero si sigues haciendo el mal, serás consumido, tanto tú como tu rey”.

But if ye doe wickedly, ye shall perish, both yee, and your King.
