1 Pedro 3
1 Del mismo modo, esposas, estad sujetas a vuestros propios maridos, para que, aunque algunos no obedezcan la Palabra, sean ganados por el comportamiento de sus esposas sin una palabra,
In like manner, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands, that even if any obey not the word, they may without the word be won by the behavior of the wives,
2 viendo vuestro comportamiento puro en el temor.
when they behold your chaste behavior coupled with fear.
3 Que vuestra belleza no provenga del adorno exterior de trenzar vuestros cabellos, y de llevar adornos de oro o de poneros ropas finas,
Whose adorning, let it not be the out yard adorning of braiding the hair, and of wearing golden ornaments, or of putting on apparel;
4 sino de lo oculto del corazón, en el adorno incorruptible de un espíritu apacible y tranquilo, que es muy precioso a los ojos de Dios.
but the hidden man of the heart, in that which is imperishable, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
5 Porque así se adornaban también en el pasado las santas mujeres que esperaban en Dios, estando sujetas a sus propios maridos.
For in this manner in the old time the holy women also, who hoped in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection to their own husbands;
6 Así Sara obedeció a Abraham, llamándole señor, de quien ahora sois hijos si hacéis bien y no os asusta ningún terror.
as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord; whose daughters ye have become, if ye do well, and fear no alarm.
7 Vosotros, maridos, vivid del mismo modo con vuestras mujeres según el conocimiento, dando honor a la mujer como al vaso más frágil, como coherederos de la gracia de la vida, para que vuestras oraciones no se vean obstaculizadas.
Dwell likewise, O husband, with thy wife according to knowledge, as with the weaker vessel, giving her honor as being heir with thee of the grace of life, that your prayers be not hindered.
8 Por último, sed todos afines, compasivos, cariñosos como hermanos, tiernos de corazón, corteses,
Finally, be, all of one mind, have fellow feeling, love as brethren, be compassionate, be humble;
9 sin devolver mal por mal ni insulto por insulto, sino bendiciendo, sabiendo que habéis sido llamados a esto, para que heredéis una bendición.
not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing; but, on the contrary, blessing the evil-doer; because for this end ye were called, that ye might inherit blessing.
10 Pues, “El que quiera amar la vida y ver los días buenos, que guarde su lengua del mal y sus labios de hablar engaño.
“For he that would love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking guile;
11 Que se aleje del mal y haga el bien. Que busque la paz y la persiga.
let him turn away from evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and pursue it.
12 Porque los ojos del Señor están sobre los justos, y sus oídos abiertos a su oración; pero el rostro del Señor está contra los que hacen el mal”.
For the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are toward their supplication; but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”
13 Ahora bien, ¿quién os perjudicará si os hacéis imitadores de lo que es bueno?
And who is he that shall harm you, if ye are followers of that which is good?
14 Pero aunque sufráis por causa de la justicia, sois bienaventurados. “No temáis lo que ellos temen, ni os turbéis”.
But if ye even suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye. And be not afraid at their terrors, nor alarmed;
15 Pero santificad al Señor Dios en vuestros corazones. Estad siempre dispuestos a dar respuesta a todo el que os pida razón de la esperanza que hay en vosotros, con humildad y temor,
but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts. And be ready always to give an answer to every one that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you, but with meekness and fear;
16 teniendo buena conciencia. Así, mientras se habla de vosotros como de malhechores, pueden quedar decepcionados los que maldicen vuestra buena manera de vivir en Cristo.
having a good conscience, that, wherein ye are evil spoken of, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conduct in Christ.
17 Porque es mejor, si es la voluntad de Dios, que padezcáis por hacer el bien que por hacer el mal.
For it is better, if it be the will of God, that ye suffer for well-doing, than for evil-doing.
18 Porque también Cristo padeció una vez por los pecados, el justo por los injustos, para llevaros a Dios, siendo muerto en la carne, pero vivificado en el Espíritu,
For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous one for the unrighteous, that he might bring you to God, being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit;
19 en el cual también fue y predicó a los espíritus encarcelados,
in which also he went and preached to the spirits in prison,
20 que antes eran desobedientes cuando Dios esperaba pacientemente en los días de Noé mientras se construía la nave. En él, pocos, es decir, ocho almas, se salvaron por medio del agua.
who were disobedient in times past, when the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was preparing, wherein a few, that is, eight souls, were saved by water;
21 Esto es un símbolo del bautismo, que ahora os salva — no la eliminación de la suciedad de la carne, sino la respuesta de una buena conciencia para con Dios — mediante la resurrección de Jesucristo,
which in its antitype, baptism, is now saving you, —not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the earnest seeking for a good conscience toward God, —by the resurrection of Jesus Christ;
22 que está a la derecha de Dios, habiendo subido al cielo, quedando sometidos a él los ángeles, las autoridades y los poderes.
who is on the right hand of God, having gone into heaven, angels and authorities and powers being made subject to him.
