1 Reyes 9

1 Cuando Salomón terminó de construir la casa de Yahvé, la casa del rey y todo lo que Salomón deseaba hacer,

It happened, when Solomon had finished the building of the house of the LORD, and the king's house, and all Solomon's desire which he was pleased to do,

2 Yahvé se le apareció a Salomón por segunda vez, como se le había aparecido en Gabaón.

that the LORD appeared to Solomon the second time, as he had appeared to him at Gibeon.

3 Yahvé le dijo: “He escuchado tu oración y tu súplica que has hecho ante mí. He santificado esta casa que has edificado, para poner allí mi nombre para siempre; y mis ojos y mi corazón estarán allí perpetuamente.

And the LORD said to him, "I have heard your prayer and your petition that you have made before me. I have done for you according to all your prayer. I have consecrated this house which you have built, to place my name there forever, and my eyes and my heart will be there perpetually.

4 En cuanto a ti, si andas delante de mí como anduvo David tu padre, con integridad de corazón y rectitud, para hacer conforme a todo lo que te he mandado, y guardas mis estatutos y mis ordenanzas,

As for you, if you will walk before me, as David your father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded you, and will keep my statutes and my ordinances;

5 entonces yo estableceré el trono de tu reino sobre Israel para siempre, como se lo prometí a David tu padre, diciendo: ‘No faltará de ti un hombre en el trono de Israel’.

then I will establish the throne of your kingdom over Israel forever, according as I promised to David your father, saying, 'There shall not fail you a man on the throne of Israel.'

6 Pero si te apartas de seguirme, tú o tus hijos, y no guardas mis mandamientos y mis estatutos que he puesto delante de ti, sino que vas y sirves a otros dioses y los adoras,

But if you turn away from following me, you or your children, and not keep my commandments and my statutes which I have set before you, but shall go and serve other gods, and worship them;

7 entonces cortaré a Israel de la tierra que les he dado; y echaré de mi vista esta casa que he santificado para mi nombre, e Israel será un proverbio y una palabra de orden entre todos los pueblos.

then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and this house, which I have made holy for my name, will I cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb and a byword among all peoples.

8 Aunque esta casa es tan alta, todos los que pasen por ella se asombrarán y silbarán; y dirán: “¿Por qué ha hecho esto Yahvé a esta tierra y a esta casa?”

And this house, which is exalted, will become a heap of ruins. Everyone who passes by it will be astonished, and will whistle, and they will say, 'Why has the LORD done this to this land, and to this house?'

9 Y responderán: “Porque abandonaron a Yahvé, su Dios, que sacó a sus padres de la tierra de Egipto, y abrazaron a otros dioses, los adoraron y les sirvieron. Por eso Yahvé ha traído sobre ellos todo este mal’”.

And they shall answer, 'Because they forsook the LORD their God, who brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold of other gods, and worshiped them, and served them. Therefore the LORD has brought all this disaster on them.'"

10 Al cabo de veinte años, en los que Salomón había construido las dos casas, la de Yahvé y la del rey

It happened at the end of twenty years, in which Solomon had built the two houses, the house of the LORD and the king's house

11 (ya que Hiram, rey de Tiro, había provisto a Salomón de cedros y cipreses, y de oro, según su deseo), el rey Salomón le dio a Hiram veinte ciudades en la tierra de Galilea.

(now Hiram the king of Tyre had furnished Solomon with cedar trees and fir trees, and with gold, according to all his desire), that then king Solomon gave Hiram twenty cities in the land of Galilee.

12 Hiram salió de Tiro para ver las ciudades que Salomón le había dado, y no le gustaron.

Hiram came out from Tyre to see the cities which Solomon had given him; and they did not please him.

13 Dijo: “¿Qué ciudades son éstas que me has dado, hermano mío?” Las llamó la tierra de Cabul hasta el día de hoy.

He said, "What cities are these which you have given me, my brother?" He called them the land of Cabul to this day.

14 Hiram envió al rey ciento veinte talentos de oro.

Hiram sent to the king one hundred twenty talents of gold.

15 Esta es la razón de los trabajos forzados que el rey Salomón reclutó: para construir la casa de Yahvé, su propia casa, Milo, la muralla de Jerusalén, Hazor, Meguido y Gezer.

This is the reason of the levy which king Solomon raised, to build the house of the LORD, and his own house, and Millo, and the wall of Jerusalem, and Hazor, and Megiddo, and Gezer.

16 El faraón, rey de Egipto, había subido, tomado Gezer, la había quemado con fuego, había matado a los cananeos que vivían en la ciudad y se la había dado como regalo de bodas a su hija, la esposa de Salomón.

Pharaoh king of Egypt had gone up, and taken Gezer, and burnt it with fire, and slain the Canaanites who lived in the city, and given it for a portion to his daughter, Solomon's wife.

17 Salomón edificó en la tierra Gezer, Bet Horón el inferior,

Solomon built Gezer, and Lower Beth Horon,

18 Baalat, Tamar en el desierto,

and Baalath, and Tamar in the wilderness, in the land,

19 todas las ciudades de almacenamiento que tenía Salomón, las ciudades para sus carros, las ciudades para su caballería, y lo que Salomón deseaba edificar para su placer en Jerusalén, en el Líbano y en toda la tierra de su dominio.

and all the storage cities that Solomon had, and the cities for his chariots, and the cities for his horsemen, and that which Solomon desired to build for his pleasure in Jerusalem, and in Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion.

20 En cuanto a todos los pueblos que quedaron de los amorreos, los hititas, los ferezeos, los heveos y los jebuseos, que no eran de los hijos de Israel —

As for all the people who were left of the Amorites, the Hethites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, who were not of the children of Israel;

21 sus hijos que quedaron después de ellos en la tierra, a quienes los hijos de Israel no pudieron destruir del todo — de ellos Salomón levantó una leva de siervos hasta el día de hoy.

their descendants who were left after them in the land, whom the children of Israel were not able utterly to destroy, of them Solomon conscripted for slave labor to this day.

22 Pero de los hijos de Israel Salomón no hizo siervos, sino que fueron los hombres de guerra, sus siervos, sus príncipes, sus capitanes y los jefes de sus carros y de su caballería.

But of the children of Israel Solomon made no bondservants; but they were the men of war, and his servants, and his commanders, and his captains, and rulers of his chariots and of his horsemen.

23 Estos eran los quinientos cincuenta oficiales principales que estaban al frente de la obra de Salomón, que gobernaban al pueblo que trabajaba en la obra.

These were the chief officers who were over Solomon's work, five hundred fifty, who bore rule over the people who labored in the work.

24 Pero la hija del faraón subió de la ciudad de David a su casa que Salomón había construido para ella. Entonces construyó Millo.

But Pharaoh's daughter came up out of the City of David to her house which Solomon had built for her: then he built Millo.

25 Salomón ofrecía holocaustos y ofrendas de paz en el altar que construyó a Yahvé tres veces al año, quemando con ellos incienso en el altar que estaba delante de Yahvé. Así terminó la casa.

Solomon offered burnt offerings and peace offerings on the altar which he built to the LORD three times a year, burning incense with them, on the altar that was before the LORD. So he finished the house.

26 El rey Salomón hizo una flota de barcos en Ezión Geber, que está junto a Elot, a orillas del Mar Rojo, en la tierra de Edom.

King Solomon also had a fleet of ships at Ezion Geber, which is near Eilat on the shore of the Red Sea, in the land of Edom.

27 Hiram envió en la flota a sus siervos, marineros conocedores del mar, con los siervos de Salomón.

Hiram sent in the navy his servants, sailors who had knowledge of the sea, with the servants of Solomon.

28 Llegaron a Ofir y sacaron de allí oro, cuatrocientos veinte talentos, y se lo llevaron al rey Salomón.

They came to Ophir, and fetched from there gold, four hundred and twenty talents, and brought it to king Solomon.
