1 Corintios 13
1 Si hablo con las lenguas de los hombres y de los ángeles, pero no tengo amor, me he convertido en bronce que resuena o en címbalo que retiñe.
For if I speak with the tongues of men and angels, and have not charity, I am but as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
2 Si tengo el don de profecía, y conozco todos los misterios y toda la ciencia, y si tengo toda la fe, como para remover montañas, pero no tengo amor, no soy nada.
And though I have the gift of prophecy, and am acquainted with all mysteries, and all knowledge: yea if I have faith, even. to remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
3 Si doy todos mis bienes para alimentar a los pobres, y si entrego mi cuerpo para que lo quemen, pero no tengo amor, de nada me sirve.
And though I give all my substance to feed the poor, and my body to be burnt, and have not charity, I am nothing profited.
4 El amor es paciente y bondadoso. El amor no tiene envidia. El amor no se jacta, no es orgulloso,
Charity beareth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity is not insolent, is not puffed up,
5 no se comporta de forma inadecuada, no busca su propio camino, no se provoca, no tiene en cuenta el mal;
doth not behave indecently, is not selfish, is not easily provoked,
6 no se alegra de la injusticia, sino que se alegra con la verdad;
suspecteth no evil, rejoiceth not at injustice, but rejoiceth in the truth:
7 lo soporta todo, lo cree todo, lo espera todo y lo soporta todo.
covereth all faults, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
8 El amor nunca falla. Pero donde hay profecías, se acabarán. Donde hay varias lenguas, cesarán. Donde hay conocimiento, se acabará.
Charity never faileth: but as to prophecies, they shall be abolished; or tongues, they shall cease; or knowledge, it shall be laid aside.
9 Porque sabemos en parte y profetizamos en parte;
For now we know but in part, and we prophesy but in part.
10 pero cuando llegue lo que es completo, entonces lo que es parcial será eliminado.
But when that which is perfect shall come, then that which is defective shall be laid aside.
11 Cuando era niño, hablaba como niño, sentía como niño, pensaba como niño. Ahora que me he hecho hombre, he dejado de lado las cosas de niño.
When I was a child, I spake as a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned as a child: but when I became a man, I laid aside childish things.
12 Porque ahora vemos en un espejo, tenuemente, pero luego cara a cara. Ahora conozco en parte, pero entonces conoceré plenamente, como también fui conocido plenamente.
For we see now as through a mirror obscurely: but then we shall see face to face. Now I know but in part, but then I shall know even as I am known.
13 Pero ahora quedan la fe, la esperanza y el amor, estos tres. El mayor de ellos es el amor.
And now abideth faith, hope, love, these three graces; but the greatest of these is love.
