1 Crónicas 23
1 Ya David era viejo y lleno de días, y puso a Salomón, su hijo, como rey de Israel.
Now David was old and full of days; and he made Solomon his son king over Israel.
2 Reunió a todos los príncipes de Israel, con los sacerdotes y los levitas.
He gathered together all the princes of Israel, with the priests and the Levites.
3 Los levitas fueron contados de treinta años en adelante, y su número por sus encuestas, hombre por hombre, era de treinta y ocho mil.
The Levites were counted from thirty years old and upward; and their number by their polls, man by man, was thirty-eight thousand.
4 David dijo: “De ellos, veinticuatro mil estaban para supervisar la obra de la casa de Yahvé, seis mil eran oficiales y jueces,
David said, “Of these, twenty-four thousand were to oversee the work of the LORD’s house, six thousand were officers and judges,
5 cuatro mil eran porteros, y cuatro mil alababan a Yahvé con los instrumentos que yo hacía para dar alabanza.”
four thousand were doorkeepers, and four thousand praised the LORD with the instruments which I made for giving praise.”
6 David los dividió según los hijos de Leví: Gersón, Coat y Merari.
David divided them into divisions according to the sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
7 De los gersonitas: Ladán y Simei.
Of the Gershonites: Ladan and Shimei.
8 Los hijos de Ladán: Jehiel el principal, Zetham y Joel, tres.
The sons of Ladan: Jehiel the chief, Zetham, and Joel, three.
9 Los hijos de Simei: Selomot, Haziel y Harán, tres. Estos fueron los jefes de familia de Ladán.
The sons of Shimei: Shelomoth, Haziel, and Haran, three. These were the heads of the fathers’ households of Ladan.
10 Los hijos de Simei: Jahat, Zina, Jeús y Beriá. Estos cuatro fueron los hijos de Simei.
The sons of Shimei: Jahath, Zina, Jeush, and Beriah. These four were the sons of Shimei.
11 Jahat fue el jefe, y Zina el segundo; pero Jeús y Beriá no tuvieron muchos hijos, por lo que se convirtieron en una casa paterna en un conteo.
Jahath was the chief, and Zizah the second; but Jeush and Beriah didn’t have many sons; therefore they became a fathers’ house in one reckoning.
12 Los hijos de Coat: Amram, Izhar, Hebrón y Uziel, cuatro.
The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel, four.
13 Los hijos de Amram: Aarón y Moisés; y Aarón fue separado para que santificara las cosas más santas, él y sus hijos para siempre, para quemar incienso ante Yahvé, para servirle y para bendecir en su nombre para siempre.
The sons of Amram: Aaron and Moses; and Aaron was separated that he should sanctify the most holy things, he and his sons forever, to burn incense before the LORD, to minister to him, and to bless in his name forever.
14 En cuanto a Moisés, el hombre de Dios, sus hijos fueron nombrados en la tribu de Leví.
But as for Moses the man of God, his sons were named amongst the tribe of Levi.
15 Los hijos de Moisés: Gersón y Eliezer.
The sons of Moses: Gershom and Eliezer.
16 Los hijos de Gersón: Sebuel, el jefe.
The sons of Gershom: Shebuel the chief.
17 El hijo de Eliezer fue Rehabía, el jefe; y Eliezer no tuvo más hijos, pero los hijos de Rehabía fueron muy numerosos.
The son of Eliezer was Rehabiah the chief; and Eliezer had no other sons, but the sons of Rehabiah were very many.
18 El hijo de Izhar: Selomit, el jefe.
The son of Izhar: Shelomith the chief.
19 Los hijos de Hebrón: Jeria el principal, Amarías el segundo, Jahaziel el tercero y Jekam el cuarto.
The sons of Hebron: Jeriah the chief, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth.
20 Los hijos de Uziel: Miqueas, el primero, e Isías, el segundo.
The sons of Uzziel: Micah the chief, and Isshiah the second.
21 Los hijos de Merari: Mahli y Mushi. Los hijos de Mahli: Eleazar y Kish.
The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. The sons of Mahli: Eleazar and Kish.
22 Eleazar murió y no tuvo hijos, sino sólo hijas; y sus parientes, los hijos de Cis, las tomaron como esposas.
Eleazar died, and had no sons, but daughters only; and their relatives, the sons of Kish, took them as wives.
23 Los hijos de Mushi: Mahli, Eder y Jeremot, tres.
The sons of Mushi: Mahli, Eder, and Jeremoth, three.
24 Estos fueron los hijos de Leví según las casas paternas, los jefes de las casas paternas de los que fueron contados individualmente, en el número de nombres por sus encuestas, que hicieron el trabajo para el servicio de la casa de Yahvé, de veinte años en adelante.
These were the sons of Levi after their fathers’ houses, even the heads of the fathers’ houses of those who were counted individually, in the number of names by their polls, who did the work for the service of the LORD’s house, from twenty years old and upward.
25 Porque David dijo: “Yahvé, el Dios de Israel, ha dado descanso a su pueblo; y él habita en Jerusalén para siempre.
For David said, “The LORD, the God of Israel, has given rest to his people; and he dwells in Jerusalem forever.
26 También los levitas ya no necesitarán llevar el tabernáculo y todos sus utensilios para su servicio.”
Also the Levites will no longer need to carry the tabernacle and all its vessels for its service.”
27 Porque por las últimas palabras de David fueron contados los hijos de Leví, de veinte años para arriba.
For by the last words of David the sons of Levi were counted, from twenty years old and upward.
28 Porque el deber de ellos era servir a los hijos de Aarón para el servicio de la casa de Yahvé: en los atrios, en las habitaciones y en la purificación de todas las cosas santas, en la obra del servicio de la casa de Dios;
For their duty was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the LORD’s house—in the courts, in the rooms, and in the purifying of all holy things, even the work of the service of God’s house;
29 también para el pan de la proposición y para la harina fina para la ofrenda, ya sea de obleas sin levadura, o de la que se cuece en la sartén, o de la que se remoja, y para todas las medidas de cantidad y tamaño;
for the show bread also, and for the fine flour for a meal offering, whether of unleavened wafers, or of that which is baked in the pan, or of that which is soaked, and for all measurements of quantity and size;
30 y que se pusieran de pie cada mañana para dar gracias y alabar a Yahvé, y lo mismo al atardecer;
and to stand every morning to thank and praise the LORD, and likewise in the evening;
31 y que ofrecieran todos los holocaustos a Yahvé en los sábados, en las lunas nuevas y en las fiestas señaladas, en número conforme a la ordenanza relativa a ellas, continuamente ante Yahvé;
and to offer all burnt offerings to the LORD on the Sabbaths, on the new moons, and on the set feasts, in number according to the ordinance concerning them, continually before the LORD;
32 y que cumplieran con el deber de la Tienda de Reunión, el deber del lugar santo y el deber de los hijos de Aarón sus hermanos para el servicio de la casa de Yahvé.
and that they should keep the duty of the Tent of Meeting, the duty of the holy place, and the duty of the sons of Aaron their brothers for the service of the LORD’s house.
