Rut 4
1 Booz fue a la puerta de la ciudad, y se sentó allí. El redentor de la familia que Booz había mencionado pasó por allí, así que Booz le dijo: “Ven aquí, amigo, y siéntate”. El hombre se acercó y se sentó.
And Boaz has gone up to the gate, and sits there, and behold, the redeemer is passing by of whom Boaz had spoken, and he says, “Turn aside, sit down here, such a one, such a one”; and he turns aside and sits down.
2 Entonces Booz seleccionó a diez de los ancianos del pueblo y les pidió que se sentaran allí con ellos.
And he takes ten men from [the] elderly of the city, and says, “Sit down here”; and they sit down.
3 Booz le dijo al redentor de la familia: “Noemí, que ha regresado del país de Moab, está vendiendo el terreno que pertenecía a Elimelec, nuestro pariente.
And he says to the redeemer, “A portion of the field which [is] to our brother, to Elimelech, has Naomi sold, who has come back from the fields of Moab;
4 Hedecidido decírtelo por si quieres comprarlo aquí, en presencia de estos ancianos del pueblo. Si quieres redimirla, adelante. Pero si no quieres, dímelo para que lo sepa, porque tú eres el primero en la fila para canjearlo, y yo soy el siguiente”. “Quiero redimirla”, dijo el redentor de la familia.
and I said, I uncover your ear, saying, Buy before the inhabitants and before [the] elderly of my people; if you redeem—redeem, and if none redeems—declare [it] to me and I know, for there is none except you to redeem, and I after you.” And he says, “I redeem [it].”
5 “Cuando compras la tierra a Noemí, también adquieres a Rut la moabita, la viuda de Mahlón, para poder casarte con ella y tener hijos con ella para asegurar la continuidad del linaje del hombre”, explicó Booz.
And Boaz says, “In the day of your buying the field from the hand of Naomi, then from Ruth the Moabitess, wife of the dead, you have bought [it], to raise up the name of the dead over his inheritance.”
6 “Pues entonces no puedo hacerlo”, respondió el redentor de la familia. “Si la redimiera, eso podría poner en peligro lo que ya poseo. Redímela tú, porque yo no puedo”.
And the redeemer says, “I am not able to redeem [it] for myself, lest I destroy my inheritance; redeem for yourself—you—my right of redemption, for I am not able to redeem.”
7 (Ahora bien, en aquellos tiempos era costumbre en Israel confirmar la acción del redentor familiar, el traspaso de la propiedad o cualquier asunto legal similar, quitándose una sandalia y entregándola. Esta era la forma de validar una transacción en Israel).
And this [is] formerly in Israel for redemption and for exchanging, to establish anything: a man has drawn off his sandal, and given [it] to his neighbor, and this [is] the Testimony in Israel.
8 Así que el redentor familiar se quitó la sandalia y le dijo a Booz: “Cómprala tú”.
And the redeemer says to Boaz, “Buy [it] for yourself,” and draws off his sandal.
9 Entonces Booz dijo a los ancianos y a todo el pueblo presente: “Ustedes son testigos de que hoy he comprado a Noemí todo lo que pertenecía a Elimelec, Mahlón y Quelión.
And Boaz says to the elderly, and [to] all the people, “You [are] witnesses today that I have bought all that [belonged] to Elimelech, and all that [belonged] to Chilion and Mahlon, from the hand of Naomi;
10 También he adquirido como esposa a Rut la moabita, viuda de Mahlón. Al tener hijos que puedan heredar sus bienes, su nombre se mantendrá vivo en su familia y en su ciudad natal. Ustedes son testigos de esto hoy”.
and also Ruth the Moabitess, wife of Mahlon, I have bought to myself for a wife, to raise up the name of the dead over his inheritance; and the name of the dead is not cut off from among his brothers, and from the gate of his place; witnesses you [are] today.”
11 Los ancianos y todo el pueblo presente en la puerta de la ciudad dijeron: “Sí, somos testigos. Que el Señor haga que la mujer que viene a tu casa sea como Raquel y Lea, que entre ambas dieron a luz al pueblo de Israel. Que seas próspera en Efrata y famosa en Belén.
And all the people who [are] in the gate say—also the elderly, “Witnesses! YHWH makes the woman who is coming to your house as Rachel and as Leah, both of whom built the house of Israel; and you do virtuously in Ephrathah, and proclaim the name in Beth-Lehem;
12 Que tu descendencia que el Señor te da a través de esta joven llegue a ser como la descendencia de Fares, el hijo que Tamar dio a Judá”.
and let your house be as the house of Perez (whom Tamar bore to Judah), of the seed which YHWH gives to you of this young woman.”
13 Booz se llevó a Rut a su casa y ella se convirtió en su esposa. Se acostó con ella, y el Señor dispuso que quedara embarazada, y dio a luz un hijo.
And Boaz takes Ruth, and she becomes his wife, and he goes in to her, and YHWH gives conception to her, and she bears a son.
14 Las mujeres de la ciudad se acercaron a Noemí y le dijeron: “Alaba al Señor, porque hoy no te ha dejado sin redentor de familia al darte este nieto que tendrá gran nombre en todo Israel.
And the women say to Naomi, “Blessed [is] YHWH who has not let a redeemer cease to you today, and his name is proclaimed in Israel,
15 Él te dará una nueva vida y te mantendrá en tu vejez, porque tu nuera, que te ama y que es mejor que siete hijos para ti, lo ha dado a luz”.
and he has been to you for a restorer of life, and for a nourisher of your old age, for your daughter-in-law who has loved you—who is better to you than seven sons—has borne him.”
16 Noemí cogió al niño y lo abrazó. Lo cuidó como a su propio hijo.
And Naomi takes the boy, and lays him in her bosom, and is to him for a nurse;
17 Las vecinas le pusieron el nombre de Obed diciendo: “¡Noemí tiene ahora un hijo!” Era el padre de Jesé, que fue el padre de David.
and the neighboring women give a name to him, saying, “There has been a son born to Naomi,” and they call his name Obed; he [is] father of Jesse, father of David.
18 Este es el linaje de Fares: Fares fue el padre de Jezrón.
And these are generations of Perez: Perez begot Hezron,
19 Jezron fue el padre de Ram. Ram fue el padre de Aminadab.
and Hezron begot Ram, and Ram begot Amminidab,
20 Aminadab fue el padre de Naasón. Naasón fue el padre de Salmón.
and Amminidab begot Nahshon, and Nahshon begot Salmon,
21 Salmón fue el padre de Booz. Booz fue el padre de Obed.
and Salmon begot Boaz, and Boaz begot Obed,
22 Obed fue el padre de Isaí. Isaí fue el padre de David.
and Obed begot Jesse, and Jesse begot David.
