Salmos 44
1 Para el director del coro. Un salmo (masquil) de los hijos de Coré. Dios, hemos escuchado con nuestros propios oídos, nuestros antepasados nos han dicho todo lo que tú hiciste en sus épocas, mucho tiempo atrás.
To the Chief Musician. For the Sons of Korah. An Instructive Psalm. O God! with our own ears, have we heard, Our fathers, have recounted to us, —The work thou didst work, In their day, In the days of aforetime:
2 Con tu poder quitaste del camino a las otras naciones, estableciste a nuestros antepasados en el lugar que les pertenecía; derrotaste a las naciones y enviaste a nuestros ancestros a ocupar la tierra que les habías prometido.
Thou thyself, with thine own hand—Didst dispossess, nations, and didst plant them, Didst break peoples in pieces, and didst spread them out:
3 No conquistaron la tierra con sus espadas; no fue a través de su fuerza que ganaron la victoria, fue por tu fuerza, tu poder, y tu compañía, porque los amabas.
For, not by their own sword, gat they possession of the land, Nor did, their own arm, win victory for them, —But thine own right hand, and thine own arm, and the light of thy face, Because thou hadst accepted them.
4 Dios, tú eres mi rey. ¡Nos diste victorias en nombre de Jacob!
Thou thyself, art my king, O God, Command thou the victories of Jacob.
5 Solo a través de ti podemos ahuyentar a nuestros enemigos. Solo en tu nombre podemos derrotar a nuestros oponentes.
By thee, will we thrust at, our adversaries, In thy Name, will we tread down our assailants;
6 No confío en mi arco; no creo que mi espada vaya a salvarme.
For, not in my bow, will I trust, Nor shall, my sword, give me victory;
7 Tú eres el único que nos salva de nuestros enemigos; acabas con aquellos que nos odian.
For thou hast saved us from our adversaries, And, them who hated us, hast thou put to shame.
8 Dios, te alabamos gozosos todo el día y alabamos tu nombre. (Selah)
In God, have we boasted all the day, And, thy Name—unto times age-abiding, will we praise. (Selah)
9 Pero ahora nos has rechazado y has apartado tu gracia de nosotros; has abandonado a nuestros ejércitos.
But nay thou hast rejected, and confounded us, And wilt not go forth with our hosts;
10 Nos has hecho correr huyendo de nuestros enemigos, y quienes nos odian se han llevado todo lo que han querido.
Thou sufferest us to turn back from the adversary, And, they who hate us, have plundered at will:
11 Nos has entregado como una oveja que va al sacrificio; nos has escatimado en frente de las otras naciones.
Thou dost give us up like sheep to be devoured, And, amongst the nations, hast thou scattered us.
12 Has vendido a tu propio pueblo por el precio de nada, no haciendo ni una sola queja al momento de la venta.
Thou dost sell thy people for, no-value, And hast not made increase by their price.
13 Te has burlado de nosotros en frente de nuestros prójimos, somos ridiculizados y burlados por todos los que están a nuestro alrededor.
Thou dost make us, A reproach to our neighbours, A mockery and a derision to them who are round about us:
14 Nos has vuelto un chiste para las otras naciones; sacuden con fuerza sus manos ante nosotros.
Thou dost make us, A by-word among the nations, —A shaking of the head among the peoples.
15 Somos humillados el día entero; escondemos nuestras cabezas por la vergüenza,
All the day, is my confusion before me, And, the shame of my face, hath covered me:
16 por todos los insultos de las personas que se burlan de nosotros, porque nuestros enemigos vengativos están justo detrás de nosotros.
At the voice of him who reproacheth and revileth, At the face of the foe and avenger.
17 Todo esto nos ha pasado incluso aunque nunca te olvidamos; no hemos sido infieles a las promesas que nos has hecho.
All this, hath come upon us, Yet had we not forgotten thee, Neither had we dealt falsely with thy covenant;
18 No nos hemos alejado de ti, ni en pensamientos, ni en acciones.
Our heart had not drawn back, Nor had our goings swerved from thy path;
19 Pero tú nos aplastaste, y nos convertiste en guarida de chacales. Nos has cubierto con la oscuridad de la muerte.
That thou shouldst have crushed us down in the place of wild dogs, And covered us over with a deadly shadow.
20 Si hemos olvidado el nombre de nuestro Dios, o hemos adorado a otros dioses,
If we had forgotten the Name of our God, And had spread forth our hands unto the GOD of the foreigner,
21 ¿No lo sabría Dios, siendo que él conoce los pensamientos de todos?
Would not, God, have searched into this, Seeing that, he, knoweth the secrets of the heart?
22 Pero por tu culpa nos matan día y noche. Somos considerados solo como ovejas listas para el sacrificio.
Surely, for thy sake, have we been slain all the day, We have been accounted as sheep for slaughter.
23 ¡Despiértate Señor! ¿Por qué estás durmiendo? ¡Levántate! ¡No nos des la espalda por siempre!
Awake thou! wherefore shouldst thou sleep, O Lord? Bestir thee! do not reject us altogether!
24 ¿Por qué apartas tu vista de nosotros y no de tas cuenta de nuestra miseria y sufrimiento?
Wherefore shouldst thou hide, thy face? Shouldst forget our humiliation and our oppression?
25 Caemos arruinados al polvo, nuestros cuerpos caen de cara al mugre.
For our soul, sinketh down to the dust, Our body, cleaveth to the earth.
26 ¡Levántate! ¡Ven y ayúdanos! ¡Sálvanos por la gracia de tu misericordioso amor!
Arise to our help, And ransom us, because of thine own lovingkindness.
