Proverbios 31
1 Estas son las palabras del Rey Lemuel, un oráculo, enseñado por su madre.
These are the words of King Lemuel, an oracle, taught to him by his mother.
2 ¿Qué podré enseñarte, hijo mío? Mi hijo a quien parí; el hijo que nació como respuesta a mis votos.
What shall I tell you, my son?—the son I gave birth to, the son given in response to my vows.
3 No desperdicies tu fuerza durmiendo con mujeres; con esas que hacen caer a los reyes.
Don't waste your strength sleeping with women, those that bring down kings.
4 Lemuel, no es digno de los reyes beber vino, ni de los gobernantes beber alcohol.
Lemuel, kings shouldn't be drinking wine, rulers shouldn't be drinking alcohol.
5 Porque si beben, olvidarán la ley, y pervertirán los derechos de los que sufren.
For if they drink, they'll forget what the law says, and pervert the rights of those who are suffering.
6 Dale alcohol a los que están muriendo, y vino a los que están sufriendo angustia.
Give alcohol to those who are dying, and wine to those who are in terrible distress.
7 Déjalos que beban para que olviden su pobreza, y para que no recuerden más sus problemas.
Let them drink so they can forget their poverty, and not remember their troubles any longer.
8 Habla en favor de los que no tienen voz, y lucha por los derechos de los marginados de la sociedad.
Speak up for those who have no voice, for the rights of those marginalized by society.
9 Habla sin temor y juzga con honestidad, defiende a los pobres y desposeídos.
Speak up and judge fairly; defend the poor and destitute.
10 ¿Quién podrá encontrar a una mujer fuerte y capaz? ¡Una mujer así es más valiosa que muchas joyas!
Who can find a strong, capable wife? She's worth more than jewels!
11 Su esposo tiene plena confianza en ella, y a su lado este hombre nunca empobrecerá.
Her husband has complete confidence in her, and with her he'll never be poor.
12 Durante toda su vida, esta mujer le trae el bien y nunca el mal.
She brings him good, not evil, all her life.
13 Ella consigue la lana y el lino, y con vehemencia elabora prendas de vestir con sus propias manos.
She gets wool and flax, and with her eager hands turns them into clothes.
14 Así como la embarcación de un comerciante, ella trae desde lejos la comida.
Like a merchant's ship, she brings food from far away.
15 Se levanta antes del amanecer para preparar el desayuno para su familia, y para preparar el trabajo de sus siervas.
She gets up while it's still dark to make breakfast for her family, and to plan what her servant girls need to do.
16 Ella mira el campo y decide comprarlo. Con su propio salario decide comprar una viña.
She looks at a field, and decides to buy it; from the money she's earned she buys a vineyard.
17 Está siempre dispuesta y lista, y trabaja arduamente con sus fuertes brazos.
She's keen to get ready, and works hard with her strong arms.
18 Ella reconoce el gran valor de lo que hace. Se mantiene ocupada y su lámpara se apaga tarde, por la noche.
She knows that the things she makes are valuable. She keeps busy—her lamp burns late into the night.
19 Hila las fibras y las teje, convirtiéndolas en telas.
She spins the thread and weaves the cloth.
20 Es generosa y da a los necesitados.
She's generous to the poor, and gives help to the needy.
21 No se preocupa si cae nieve, porque su familia tiene abrigo tibio.
She doesn't worry if it snows, because her whole family has warm clothing.
22 Ella se hace abrigos, y se viste con lino fino y ropa de color púrpura.
She makes herself bedspreads; she dresses in fine linen and purple clothes.
23 Su esposo es respetado en el concilio a las puertas de la ciudad, donde se sienta con los ancianos.
Her husband is well-respected in the council at the town gates, where he sits with the town elders.
24 Ella elabora ropas de lino para vender, y es la proveedora de cinturones para los comerciantes.
She makes linen clothes for sale, and supplies merchants with belts.
25 Ella se viste de fuerza y dignidad, y mira el futuro con alegría.
She's clothed with strength and dignity, and she is happy about the future.
26 Ella habla con sabiduría, y es bondadosa al dar instrucciones.
She speaks wise words, and she's kind when she gives instructions.
27 Ella se encarga de las necesidades de su familia, y nunca está desocupada.
She looks after the needs of her whole household, and she's never idle.
28 Sus hijos se apresuran a bendecirla. Su esposo la alaba, diciendo:
Her children are quick to bless her. Her husband praises her too, saying,
29 “Muchas mujeres hacen grandes cosas, ¡pero tú eres mejor que todas ellas!”
“Many women do great things, but you are better than all of them!”
30 El encanto es engañoso, y la belleza se desvanece; pero la mujer que honra al Señor merece ser alabada.
Charm can deceive, and beauty fades, but a woman who honors the Lord should be praised.
31 Dale el reconocimiento que se merece; alábala públicamente por lo que ha hecho.
Give her the recognition she deserves; praise her publicly for what she's done.
