Proverbios 30
1 Estas son las palabras de Agur, hijo de Jaqué. Un oráculo. Esto es lo que dice el hombre. Dios, estoy cansado. No tengo fuerzas.
The words of Agur, son of Jakeh, [even] the oracle, —The utterance of the man, for Ithiel, for Ithiel and Ucal.
2 Soy tan tonto que no soy un hombre de verdad; no logro pensar como un ser humano.
Surely, more brutish, am, I, than any man, nor doth, the understanding of a son of earth, pertain to me;
3 No he aprendido sabiduría; no tengo conocimiento del Santo.
Neither have I learned wisdom, nor, the knowledge of the Holy Ones, can I acquire.
4 ¿Quién ha ido al cielo y ha vuelto a la tierra? ¿Quién sostiene los vientos en la palma de sus manos? ¿Quién ha envuelto las aguas en su manto? ¿Quién ha establecido los límites de la tierra? ¿Cuál es nombre y el nombre de su hijo? ¿Estás seguro de que no lo sabes?
Who hath ascended the heavens and then descended? Who hath gathered the wind into his two hands? Who hath wrapped up the waters in a mantle? Who hath set up all the ends of the earth? What is his name and what the name of his son, when thou knowest?
5 Cada palabra que Dios dice ha resultado ser verdadera. Él defiende a todos los que lo buscan pidiendo protección.
Every saying of God is refined, A shield, is, he, to them who seek refuge in him.
6 No añadas nada a sus palabras, o te criticará y quedarás como un mentiroso.
Do not add unto his words, lest he convict thee, and thou be found false.
7 Dios, quiero pedirte dos cosas. Por favor, no te niegues a dármelas antes de que muera.
Two things, have I asked of thee, withhold them not from me, ere yet I die:
8 No dejes que sea falso, ayúdame a no decir mentiras. No me hagas pobre ni rico; solo dame la comida que necesito.
Vanity and falsehood, remove far from me, Neither poverty nor riches, give me, Feed me with the food appointed me:
9 Porque si tengo mucho dinero, podría abandonarte y decir: “¿Quién es el Señor?” y si soy pobre, podría robar y dañar la reputación de mi Dios.
Lest I be full, and deny, and say—Who is Yahweh? or lest I be impoverished and steal, and do violence to the Name of my God.
10 No calumnies a un siervo ante su amo, o te maldecirá y sufrirás por ello.
Do not slander a servant to his master, lest he revile thee, and thou be found guilty.
11 Hay quienes maldicen a sus padres y no bendicen a sus madres.
A generation! Its father, it revileth, and, its mother, it doth not bless.
12 Hay quienes se ven a sí mismos como puros, pero están sucios y no se han lavado.
A generation! Pure in its own eyes, yet, from its filth, hath it not been bathed,
13 Hay quienes creen que son grandes y poderosos, y desprecian a otros.
A generation! How lofty are its eyes, and its eyelashes uplifted.
14 Hay quienes tienen dientes como espadas, colmillos como cuchillos, listos para devorarse a los pobres de la tierra, a los necesitados de la sociedad.
A generation! Swords, are its teeth, and, knives, its incisors, —to devour the humbled out of the earth, and the needy, from among men.
15 La sanguijuela tiene dos hijas que gritan: “¡Dame! ¡Dame!” Hay tres cosas que nunca se satisfacen, y cuatro que nuca dicen que es suficiente:
The vampire, hath two daughters, Give! Give! Three, there are will not be satisfied, four, have not said, Enough!
16 La tumba, el vientre que no logra concebir, la tierra sedienta de agua, y el fuego que nunca dice “¡Basta!” (Sheol h7585)
Hades, and barrenness, —A land not satisfied with water, and fire, that saith not, Enough! (Sheol h7585)
17 Los que ridiculizan a sus padres y desprecian la obediencia a la madre, los cuervos les sacarán los ojos y serán comidos por buitres jóvenes.
The eye that mocketh a father, and despiseth to obey a mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young of the eagle shall eat it.
18 Estas tres cosas son increíblemente difíciles para mi, y son cuatro las que no logro entender:
Three, things there are, too difficult for me, yea, four, which I do not understand:
19 La forma en que un águila se eleva en el cielo, la forma en que una serpiente se desliza sobre una roca, la forma en que un barco navega por el mar, y la forma en que un hombre y una mujer se enamoran.
The way of an eagle in the heavens, the way of a serpent on the rock, —the way of a ship in the heart of the sea, and the way of a man with a maid.
20 Así es como una mujer comete adulterio: come, se limpia la boca, y dice: “¡No he hecho nada malo!”
So, is the way of a woman committing adultery, —she eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith, I have done no iniquity!
21 Tres cosas hacen temblar a la tierra y son cuatro las que no puede soportar:
Under three things, a land is stirred, yea, under four, she cannot bear up:
22 un esclavo que se vuelve rey, un tonto que come como cerdo
Under a servant, when he reigneth, and a base man, when he is surfeited with food;
23 una mujer insoportable que se casa, y una sirvienta ocupando el lugar de su ama.
Under a hateful woman, when she is married, and a handmaid when she driveth out her mistress.
24 Hay cuatro cosas en la tierra que son pequeñas, pero muy sabias:
Four, things there are, the small of the earth, —yet, they, are wiser than the wise:
25 Las hormigas: no son fuertes, pero trabajan todo el verano para reservar alimento.
The ants, a people, not strong, —yet prepare they, in summer, their food;
26 Los damanes: que no tienen mucha fuerza, pero construyen sus casas en la roca.
The conies, a people of, no power, yet set they, among the crags, their house;
27 Langostas: No tienen rey pero marchan en línea y organizadas.
King, is there none, to, the locusts, —yet go forth in swarms, do they all;
28 La lagartija: puedes atraparla con tus manos, pero vive en el palacio del rey.
The lizard, with hands, reneweth its hold, —yet, the same, is in the palaces of the king.
29 Hay tres cosas que son gloriosas al verlas caminar, y son cuatro las que muestran dignidad al moverse:
Three, things there are which step along well, ye, four, which excel in going:
30 El león, supremo entre los animales salvajes, que no le teme a nada.
The lion, hero among beasts, which turneth aside from the face of no one;
31 El estornino que revolotea, el ciervo, y el rey con su ejército.
The greyhound, or the he-goat, —and a king, having a band of soldiers with him.
32 Si en tu necedad has estado jactándote de ti mismo, o has hecho planes para hacer algo malo, détente y pon tu mano sobre tu boca.
If thou hast acted basely by lifting thyself up, —if thou hast plotted evil, [put thy] hand to [thy] mouth!
33 Como la leche batida produce mantequilla, y retorcer la nariz de alguien la hace sangrar, así mismo agitar la ira causa discusiones.
Surely, the pressing of milk, bringeth forth curd, and, the pressing of the nose, bringeth forth blood, and, the pressing of wrath, bringeth forth strife.
