Proverbios 24

1 No tengas envidia de los malvados, ni desees su compañía,

Be not thou enuious against euill men, neither desire to be with them.

2 porque ellos conspiran planes crueles y discuten entre ellos para causar tribulación.

For their heart imagineth destruction, and their lippes speake mischiefe.

3 Una casa se construye con sabiduría. Su fundamento seguro es la inteligencia.

Through wisdome is an house builded, and with vnderstanding it is established.

4 Sus habitaciones están llenas de conocimiento, con todo tipo de hermosos y valiosos objetos.

And by knowledge shall the chambers bee filled with all precious, and pleasant riches.

5 Si tienes sabiduría, serás fuerte. Si tienes inteligencia, tu poder aumentará.

A wise man is strong: for a man of vnderstanding encreaseth his strength.

6 Porque con la guía correcta, podrás ir a la guerra, y serás victorioso si tienes muchos buenos consejeros.

For with counsel thou shalt enterprise thy warre, and in the multitude of them that can giue counsell, is health.

7 La sabiduría examina las mentes de los tontos. Ellos no tienen nada que aportar en las discusiones sobre los asuntos importantes.

Wisdome is hie to a foole: therefore he can not open his mouth in the gate.

8 Todo aquel que hace planes para hacer el mal, será considerado un problemático.

Hee that imagineth to doe euill, men shall call him an autour of wickednes.

9 Los planes que hacen los tontos son de pecado. Todos aborrecen a los que se burlan de otros.

The wicked thought of a foole is sinne, and the scorner is an abomination vnto men.

10 Si te rindes en el momento de la prueba, mostraras cuan débil eres.

If thou bee faint in the day of aduersitie, thy strength is small.

11 Rescata a los que son expulsados para ser ejecutados. Salva a los que desfallecen de camino a su muerte.

Deliuer them that are drawen to death: wilt thou not preserue them that are led to be slaine?

12 Si dices: “No sabíamos nada sobre esto”, ¿no crees que el Dios que juzga las motivaciones no se dará cuenta de lo que ocurre realmente? El que te mira desde arriba lo sabe todo, y le pagará a todos según sus actos.

If thou say, Beholde, we knew not of it: he that pondereth the heartes, doeth not hee vnderstand it? and hee that keepeth thy soule, knoweth he it not? will not he also recompense euery man according to his workes?

13 Hijo mío, comer miel te conviene; el panal de miel tiene un dulce sabor.

My sonne, eate hony, for it is good, and the hony combe, for it is sweete vnto thy mouth.

14 Del mismo modo, debes saber que te conviene la sabiduría; y que sin la encuentras habrá un futuro para ti que no será frustrado.

So shall the knowledge of wisdome be vnto thy soule, if thou finde it, and there shall be an ende, and thine hope shall not be cut off.

15 No seas como el criminal que espera para entrar por sorpresa en las casas de las buenas personas. No ataques el lugar donde viven.

Laye no waite, O wicked man, against the house of the righteous, and spoyle not his resting place.

16 Los que hacen el bien podrán caer siete veces, y aun así se levantaran; pero el desastre vendrá para derribar a los malvados.

For a iust man falleth seuen times, and riseth againe: but the wicked fall into mischiefe.

17 No celebres cuando tu enemigo caiga. No te alegues cuando se tropiece,

Bee thou not glad when thine enemie falleth, and let not thine heart reioyce when hee stumbleth,

18 porque puede que cuando el Señor lo note, se desagrade de ti y no lo castigue como lo había pensado.

Least the Lord see it, and it displease him, and he turne his wrath from him.

19 No te enojes por causa de los malvados, ni sientas celos por los que hacen el mal,

Fret not thy selfe because of the malicious, neither be enuious at the wicked.

20 porque los malvados no tienen futuro. La lámpara de los malvados se apagará.

For there shall bee none ende of plagues to the euill man: the light of the wicked shall bee put out.

21 Hijo mío, honra al Señor y al rey, y no te juntes con los rebeldes,

My sonne feare the Lord, and the King, and meddle not with them that are sedicious.

22 porque el desastre vendrá sobre ellos repentinamente. ¿Quién podrá saber cómo los castigarán el Señor y el rey?

For their destruction shall rise suddenly, and who knoweth the ruine of them both?

23 Estos son más dichos del sabio: Mostrar preferencias cuando emites un juicio no es bueno.

ALSO THESE THINGS PERTEINE TO THE WISE, It is not good to haue respect of any person in iudgement.

24 Los que le dicen al culpable: “Eres inocente”, serán malditos por el pueblo y odiados por la nación,

He that saith to the wicked, Thou art righteous, him shall the people curse, and the multitude shall abhorre him.

25 pero los que condenan al culpable serán estimados, y recibirán rica bendición.

But to them that rebuke him, shall be pleasure, and vpon them shall come the blessing of goodnesse.

26 Una respuesta honesta es como un beso en los labios.

They shall kisse the lippes of him that answereth vpright wordes.

27 Haz primero el trabajo que necesitas hacer afuera y prepárate para sembrar tus campos. Solo después de eso, comienza a construir tu casa.

Prepare thy worke without, and make readie thy thinges in the fielde, and after, builde thine house.

28 No seas testigo contra tu prójimo sin tener una buena razón, ni digas mentiras.

Be not a witnes against thy neighbour without cause: for wilt thou deceiue with thy lippes?

29 No digas en tu pensamiento: “Voy a hacerle lo mismo que me hizo! ¡Haré que me pague por lo que ha hecho!”

Say not, I wil doe to him, as he hath done to mee, I will recompence euery man according to his worke.

30 Mientras caminaba, pasé por el campo del hombre perezoso, y por el viñedo de un insensato.

I passed by the fielde of the slouthfull, and by the vineyarde of the man destitute of vnderstanding.

31 Y estaba lleno de monte y espinas, el suelo estaba cubierto de hierba y la piedra angular se había caído.

And lo, it was al growen ouer with thornes, and nettles had couered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken downe.

32 Y mientras veía, pensé y aprendí una lección:

Then I behelde, and I considered it well: I looked vpon it, and receiued instruction.

33 Puedes decir: “Solo dormiré un poco más, me recostaré apenas un rato, y cruzaré mis brazos para descansar un poco más”,

Yet a litle sleepe, a litle slumber, a litle folding of the handes to sleepe.

34 pero la pobreza te atacará como un ladrón, y la miseria como un guerrero armado.

So thy pouertie commeth as one that traueileth by the way, and thy necessitie like an armed man.
