Números 24
1 Cuando Balaam vio que el Señor quería bendecir a Israel, eligió no usar la adivinación como lo había hecho anteriormente. En su lugar se volvió hacia el desierto,
And Balaam seeth that [it is] good in the eyes of Jehovah to bless Israel, and he hath not gone as time by time to meet enchantments, and he setteth towards the wilderness his face;
2 y al mirar a Israel acampado allí según sus respectivas tribus, el Espíritu de Dios vino sobre él.
and Balaam lifteth up his eyes, and seeth Israel tabernacling, by its tribes, and the Spirit of God is upon him,
3 Hizo una declaración, diciendo:
and he taketh up his simile, and saith: 'An affirmation of Balaam son of Beor — And an affirmation of the man whose eyes are shut —
4 “Esta es la profecía de Balaam, hijo de Beor, la profecía de un hombre que ve con los ojos bien abiertos, la profecía de uno que oye las palabras de Dios, que ve la visión dada por el Todopoderoso, que se inclina con respeto con los ojos abiertos.
An affirmation of him who is hearing sayings of God — Who a vision of the Almighty seeth, Falling — and eyes uncovered:
5 “¡Qué bien puestas tus tiendas, Jacob; los lugares donde vives, Israel!
How good have been thy tents, O Jacob, Thy tabernacles, O Israel;
6 Parecen valles boscosos, como jardines junto a un río, como árboles de áloe que el Señor ha plantado, como cedros a la orilla del agua.
As valleys they have been stretched out, As gardens by a river; As aloes Jehovah hath planted, As cedars by waters;
7 Los israelitas derramarán cubos de agua; sus descendientes tendrán mucha agua. Su rey será más grande que el rey Agag; su reino será glorioso.
He maketh water flow from his buckets, And his seed [is] in many waters; And higher than Agag [is] his king, And exalted is his kingdom.
8 Dios los sacó de Egipto con gran poder, tan fuerte como un buey, destruyendo a las naciones enemigas, rompiéndoles los huesos, atravesándolos con flechas.
God is bringing him out of Egypt; As the swiftness of a Reem is to him, He eateth up nations his adversaries, And their bones he breaketh, And [with] his arrows he smiteth,
9 Son como un león que se agacha y se acuesta. Son como una leona que nadie se atreve a molestar. Quienes los bendigan serán bendecidos; y quienes los maldigan serán malditos”.
He hath bent, he hath lain down as a lion, And as a lioness: who doth raise him up? He who is blessing thee [is] blessed, And he who is cursing thee [is] cursed.'
10 Balac se enfadó con Balaam, y se golpeó los puños. Le dijo a Balaam, “Te traje aquí para maldecir a mis enemigos, ¡y ahora mira! Sigues bendiciéndolos, haciéndolo tres veces.
And the anger of Balak burneth against Balaam, and he striketh his hands; and Balak saith unto Balaam, 'To pierce mine enemies I called thee, and lo, thou hast certainly blessed — these three times;
11 ¡Vete ahora mismo! ¡Vete a casa! Prometí pagarte bien, pero el Señor se ha asegurado de que no recibirás ningún pago”.
and now, flee for thyself unto thy place; I have said, I do greatly honour thee, and lo, Jehovah hath kept thee back from honour.'
12 Pero Balaam le dijo a Balac: “¿No le expliqué ya a los mensajeros que enviaste
And Balaam saith unto Balak, 'Did I not also unto thy messengers whom thou hast sent unto me, speak, saying,
13 que aunque me dieras todo tu palacio lleno de plata y oro, no podría hacer nada de lo que quisiera ni desobedecer el mandato del Señor mi Dios de ninguna manera? Sólo puedo decir lo que el Señor me dice.
If Balak doth give to me the fulness of his house of silver and gold, I am not able to pass over the command of Jehovah, to do good or evil of mine own heart — that which Jehovah speaketh — it I speak?
14 ¡Escucha! Ahora vuelvo a casa con mi propio pueblo, pero primero déjame advertirte lo que estos israelitas van a hacer con tu pueblo en el futuro”.
and, now, lo, I am going to my people; come, I counsel thee [concerning] that which this people doth to thy people, in the latter end of the days.'
15 Entonces Balaam hizo una declaración, diciendo: “Esta es la profecía de Balaam, hijo de Beor, la profecía de un hombre con los ojos bien abiertos
And he taketh up his simile, and saith: 'An affirmation of Balaam son of Beor — And an affirmation of the man whose eyes [are] shut —
16 la profecía de uno que escucha las palabras de Dios, que recibe el conocimiento del Altísimo, que ve la visión dada por el Todopoderoso, que se inclina con respeto con los ojos abiertos.
An affirmation of him who is hearing sayings of God — And knowing knowledge of the Most High; A vision of the Almighty he seeth, Falling — and eyes uncovered:
17 “Lo veo, pero esto no es ahora. Lo observo, pero esto no está cerca. En el futuro, un líder como una estrella vendrá de Jacob, un gobernante con un cetro llegará al poder desde Israel. Aplastará las cabezas de los moabitas, y destruirá a todo el pueblo de Set.
I see it, but not now; I behold it, but not near; A star hath proceeded from Jacob, And a sceptre hath risen from Israel, And hath smitten corners of Moab, And hath destroyed all sons of Sheth.
18 El país de Edom será conquistado, su enemigo Seir serán conquistados, y los israelitas saldrán victoriosos.
And Edom hath been a possession, And Seir hath been a possession, [for] its enemies, And Israel is doing valiantly;
19 Un gobernante de Jacob vendrá y destruirá a los que queden en la ciudad”.
And [one] doth rule out of Jacob, And hath destroyed a remnant from Ar.'
20 Balaam dirigió su atención a los amalecitas y dio esta declaración sobre ellos, diciendo, “Amalec fue el primero entre las naciones, pero terminarán siendo destruidos”.
And he seeth Amalek, and taketh up his simile, and saith: 'A beginning of the Goyim [is] Amalek; And his latter end — for ever he perisheth.'
21 Dirigió su atención a los ceneos y dio esta declaración sobre ellos, diciendo, “Donde vives está seguro y protegido, como un nido en la cara de un acantilado.
And he seeth the Kenite, and taketh up his simile, and saith: 'Enduring [is] thy dwelling, And setting in a rock thy nest,
22 Pero Caín será quemado cuando Asiria los conquiste”.
But the Kenite is for a burning; Till when doth Asshur keep thee captive?'
23 Luego Balaam hizo otra declaración, diciendo: “¡Es una tragedia! ¿Quién puede sobrevivir cuando Dios hace esto?
And he taketh up his simile, and saith: 'Alas! who doth live when God doth this?
24 Se enviarán barcos desde Chipre para atacar Asiria y Eber, pero también serán destruidos permanentemente”.
And — ships [are] from the side of Chittim, And they have humbled Asshur, And they have humbled Eber, And it also for ever is perishing.'
25 Entonces Balaam se marchó y volvió a su país, y Balac se marchó también.
And Balaam riseth, and goeth, and turneth back to his place, and Balak also hath gone on his way.
