Números 20
1 Fue durante el primer mes del año que todos los israelitas llegaron al desierto de Zin y establecieron un campamento en Cades. (Aquí fue donde Miriam murió y fue enterrada).
The children of Israel [God prevails], even the whole congregation, came into the wilderness of Zin in the first month Nissan ·Miracles (in Aramaic), 1·. The people stayed in Kadesh. Miriam [Rebellion] died there, and was buried there.
2 Sin embargo, allí no había agua para que nadie bebiera, así que la gente se reunió para enfrentarse a Moisés y Aarón.
There was no water for the congregation; and they assembled themselves together against Moses [Drawn out] and against Aaron [Light-bringer].
3 Discutieron con Moisés, diciendo: “¡Si hubiéramos muerto con nuestros parientes en la presencia del Señor!
The people quarreled with Moses [Drawn out], and spoke, saying, “We wish that we had died when our brothers died before Adonai!
4 ¿Por qué has traído al pueblo del Señor a este desierto para que nosotros y nuestro ganado muramos aquí?
Why have you brought Adonai’s assembly into this wilderness, that we should die there, we and our animals?
5 ¿Por qué nos has sacado de Egipto para venir a este horrible lugar? Aquí no crece nada, ni grano, ni higos, ni viñas, ni granadas. Y no hay agua para beber”.
Why have you made us to come up out of Egypt [Abode of slavery], to bring us in to this evil place? It is no place of seed, or of figs, or of vines, or of pomegranates; neither is there any water to drink.”
6 Moisés y Aarón dejaron el pueblo y se fueron a la entrada del Tabernáculo de Reunión. Allí cayeron boca abajo en el suelo, y la gloria del Señor se les apareció.
Moses [Drawn out] and Aaron [Light-bringer] went from the presence of the assembly to the door of the Tent of Meeting, and fell on their faces. The kavod Yahweh ·weighty glory of He sustains breathing· appeared to them.
7 El Señor le dijo a Moisés,
Adonai spoke to Moses [Drawn out], saying,
8 “Toma el bastón y haz que la gente se reúna a tu alrededor. Mientras miran, tú y tu hermano Aarón ordenarán a la roca y derramará agua. Traerán agua de la roca para que el pueblo y su ganado puedan beber”.
“Take the rod, and assemble the congregation, you, and Aaron [Light-bringer] your brother, and speak to the rock before their eyes, that it pour out its water. You shall bring water to them out of the rock; so you shall give the congregation and their livestock drink.”
9 Moisés recogió el bastón que estaba guardado en la presencia del Señor, como se le había ordenado.
Moses [Drawn out] took the rod from before Adonai, as he enjoined him.
10 Moisés y Aarón hicieron que todos se reunieran frente a la roca. Moisés les dijo: “¡Escuchen, pandilla de rebeldes! ¿Tenemos que sacar agua de esta roca para ustedes?”
Moses [Drawn out] and Aaron [Light-bringer] gathered the assembly together before the rock, and he said to them, “Sh'ma ·Hear obey· now, you rebels! Shall we bring water out of this rock for you?”
11 Entonces Moisés tomó el bastón y golpeó la roca dos veces. Salieron chorros de agua para que la gente y su ganado pudieran beber.
Moses [Drawn out] lifted up his hand, and struck the rock with his rod twice, and water came out abundantly. The congregation and their livestock drank.
12 Pero el Señor les dijo a Moisés y a Aarón: “Como no confiaron en mí lo suficiente para demostrar lo santo que soy a los israelitas, no serán ustedes los que los lleven al país que les he dado”.
Adonai said to Moses [Drawn out] and Aaron [Light-bringer], “Because you didn’t trust in me, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel [God prevails], therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.”
13 El lugar donde los israelitas discutían con el Señor se llamaba las aguas de Meribá, y era donde les revelaba su santidad.
These are the waters of Meribah [Quarreling]; because the children of Israel [God prevails] strove with Yahweh M’Kaddesh [Yahweh our Santifier / He sustains breathing who makes you holy] who was set apart by them.
14 Moisés envió mensajeros desde Cades al rey de Edom, diciéndole: “Esto es lo que dice tu hermano Israel. Tú sabes todo sobre las dificultades que hemos enfrentado.
Moses [Drawn out] sent messengers from Kadesh to the king of Edom [Red], saying: “Thus says your brother Israel [God prevails]: You know all the travail that has happened to us;
15 Nuestros antepasados fueron a Egipto y nosotros vivimos allí mucho tiempo. Los egipcios nos trataron mal a nosotros y a nuestros antepasados,
how our fathers went down into Egypt [Abode of slavery], and we lived in Egypt [Abode of slavery] a long time. The Egyptians [people from Abode of slavery] mistreated us and our fathers.
16 así que pedimos ayuda al Señor, y él escuchó nuestros gritos. Envió un ángel y nos sacó de Egipto. “Escuchen, ahora estamos en Cades, un pueblo en la frontera de su territorio.
When we cried to Adonai, he sh'ma ·heard obeyed· our voice, sent an angel, and brought us out of Egypt [Abode of slavery]. Behold, we are in Kadesh, a city in the edge of your border.
17 Por favor, permítanos viajar a través de su país. No cruzaremos ninguno de sus campos o viñedos, ni beberemos agua de ninguno de sus pozos. Nos quedaremos en la Carretera del Rey; no nos desviaremos ni a la derecha ni a la izquierda hasta que hayamos pasado por su país”.
“Please let us pass through your land. We will not pass through field or through vineyard, neither will we drink from the water of the wells. We will go along the king’s highway. We will not turn aside to the right hand nor to the left, until we have passed your border.”
18 Pero el rey de Edom respondió: “Se les prohíbe viajar por nuestro país, de lo contrario saldremos y los detendremos por la fuerza”.
Edom [Red] said to him, “You shall not pass through me, lest I come out with the sword against you.”
19 “Nos mantendremos en el camino principal”, insistieron los israelitas. “Si nosotros o nuestro ganado bebemos tu agua, te pagaremos por ella. Eso es todo lo que queremos, sólo pasar a pie”.
The children of Israel [God prevails] said to him, “We will go up by the highway; and if we drink your water, I and my livestock, then I will give its price. Only let me, without doing anything else, pass through on my feet.”
20 Pero el rey de Edom insistió: “¡Tienen prohibido viajar por nuestro país!” Salió con su gran y poderoso ejército para enfrentarse a los israelitas de frente.
He said, “You shall not pass through.” Edom [Red] came out against him with many people, and with a strong hand.
21 Como el rey de Edom se negó a permitir que Israel viajara por su territorio, los israelitas tuvieron que volver.
Thus Edom [Red] refused to give Israel [God prevails] passage through his border, so Israel [God prevails] turned away from him.
22 Todos los israelitas dejaron Cades y viajaron al Monte Hor.
They traveled from Kadesh: and the children of Israel [God prevails], even the whole congregation, came to Mount Hor.
23 En el monte Hor, cerca de la frontera con el país de Edom, el Señor dijo a Moisés y Aarón,
Adonai spoke to Moses [Drawn out] and Aaron [Light-bringer] in Mount Hor, by the border of the land of Edom [Red], saying,
24 “Aarón pronto se unirá a sus antepasados en la muerte. No entrará en el país que he dado a los israelitas, porque ambos desobedecieron mi orden en las aguas de Meribá.
“Aaron [Light-bringer] shall be gathered to his people; for he shall not enter into the land which I have given to the children of Israel [God prevails], because you rebelled against my word at the waters of Meribah [Quarreling].
25 Que Aarón y su hijo Eleazar se unan a ustedes y suban juntos al monte Hor.
Take Aaron [Light-bringer] and Eleazar [Help of God] his son, and bring them up to Mount Hor;
26 Quítale a Aarón la ropa de sacerdote y pónsela a su hijo Eleazar. Aarón va a morir allí y se unirá a sus antepasados en la muerte”.
and strip Aaron [Light-bringer] of his garments, and put them on Eleazar [Help of God] his son. Aaron [Light-bringer] shall be taken, and shall die there.”
27 Moisés hizo lo que el Señor le ordenó: Subieron al monte Hor a la vista de todos los israelitas.
Moses [Drawn out] did as Adonai enjoined. They went up into Mount Hor in the sight of all the congregation.
28 Moisés se quitó las ropas sacerdotales que llevaba Aarón y se las puso a su hijo Eleazar. Aarón murió allí, en la cima del monte. Entonces Moisés y Eleazar volvieron a bajar.
Moses [Drawn out] stripped Aaron [Light-bringer] of his garments, and put them on Eleazar [Help of God] his son. Aaron [Light-bringer] died there on the top of the mountain, and Moses [Drawn out] and Eleazar [Help of God] came down from the mountain.
29 Cuando la gente se dio cuenta de que Aarón había muerto, todos lloraron por él durante treinta días.
When all the congregation saw that Aaron [Light-bringer] was dead, they wept for Aaron [Light-bringer] thirty days, even all the house of Israel [God prevails].
