San Mateo 6
1 “Asegúrense de que sus buenas obras no sean delante de la gente, solo para que los vean. De lo contrario, no tendrán ninguna recompensa de su Padre que está en el cielo.
“Be careful not to perform your righteous acts before men to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
2 Cuando den a los pobres, no sean como los hipócritas que se jactan anunciando en las sinagogas y en las calles lo que hacen para que la gente los alabe. Yo les digo la verdad: ellos ya tienen su recompensa.
So when you give to the needy, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. Truly I tell you, they already have their full reward.
3 Cuando den a los pobres, que su mano izquierda no sepa lo que está haciendo su mano derecha.
But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,
4 De esta manera, lo que den será secreto, y su Padre que ve lo que ocurre en secreto, los recompensará.
so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
5 “Cuando oren, no sean como los hipócritas, porque a ellos les encanta ponerse en pie y orar en las sinagogas y en las esquinas de las calles para que la gente los vea. Yo les prometo que ellos ya tienen su recompensa.
And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. Truly I tell you, they already have their full reward.
6 Pero ustedes, cuando oren, entren a su casa y cierren la puerta, y oren a su Padre en privado, y su Padre que ve lo que ocurre en privado, los recompensará.
But when you pray, go into your inner room, shut your door, and pray to your Father, who is unseen. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
7 Cuando oren, no usen palabrerías incoherentes como hacen los gentiles, que piensan que serán escuchados por todas las palabras que repiten.
And when you pray, do not babble on like pagans, for they think that by their many words they will be heard.
8 No sean como ellos, porque su Padre sabe lo que ustedes necesitan incluso antes de que ustedes se lo pidan.
Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.
9 Así que oren de esta manera: “Nuestro Padre celestial, que tu nombre sean honrado.
So then, this is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name.
10 Venga tu reino. Que tu voluntad sea hecha en la tierra como se hace en el cielo.
Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Por favor, danos hoy el alimento que necesitamos.
Give us this day our daily bread.
12 Perdona nuestros pecados, así como nosotros hemos perdonado a quienes han pecado contra nosotros.
And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 No dejes que seamos tentados a hacer el mal, y sálvanos del Maligno.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’
14 “Porque si perdonan a quienes pecan contra ustedes, su Padre celestial también los perdonará.
For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
15 Pero si no perdonan a quienes pecan contra ustedes, entonces su Padre celestial no les perdonará sus pecados.
But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive yours.
16 “Cuando ayunen, no sean como los hipócritas que ponen caras tristes y un semblante espantoso para que todos vean que están ayunando.
When you fast, do not be somber like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces to show men they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they already have their full reward.
17 En lugar de eso, cuando ayunen, laven sus rostros y luzcan elegantes,
But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face,
18 a fin de que las personas no vean que ustedes están ayunando, y su Padre que es invisible y que ve lo que ocurre en privado, los recompensará.
so that your fasting will not be obvious to men, but only to your Father, who is unseen. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
19 “No acumulen riquezas aquí en la tierra donde la polilla y el óxido las dañan, y donde los ladrones entran y las roban.
Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.
20 En lugar de ello, ustedes deben acumular sus riquezas en el cielo, donde la polilla y el óxido no las dañan, y donde los ladrones no entran ni las roban.
But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
21 Porque donde acumulen su riqueza, allí es donde estará su corazón también.
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
22 “El ojo es como una lámpara que ilumina el cuerpo. De manera que si tu ojo es sano, entonces todo tu cuerpo tendrá luz.
The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light.
23 Pero si tu ojo es perverso, entonces todo tu cuerpo estará en tinieblas. Si la luz dentro de ustedes está en tinieblas, ¡cuán oscuro es eso!
But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!
24 Nadie puede servir a dos amos. Odiarán a uno y amarán al otro, o serán devotos a uno y despreciarán al otro. Ustedes no pueden servir a Dios y al dinero a la vez.
No one can serve two masters: Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
25 “Por eso les digo que no se preocupen por sus vidas. No se preocupen por lo que van a comer, o por lo que van a beber, o por la ropa con la que van a vestir. ¿Acaso no es la vida más importante que la comida, y el cuerpo más que la ropa?
Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?
26 Miren las aves—ellas no siembran ni cosechan, ni guardan alimento en los graneros, porque el Padre celestial las alimenta. ¿No son ustedes más que las aves?
Look at the birds of the air: They do not sow or reap or gather into barns—and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
27 ¿Quién de ustedes puede, por mucho que se afane, añadir un minuto a su vida?
Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
28 ¿Y por qué se preocupan por la ropa? Miren las hermosas flores del campo. Miren cómo crecen: No trabajan ni hilan.
And why do you worry about clothes? Consider how the lilies of the field grow: They do not labor or spin.
29 Pero les digo que ni siquiera Salomón en todo su esplendor se vistió como una de esas flores.
Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his glory was adorned like one of these.
30 De modo que si Dios decora los campos así, la hierba que está hoy aquí y que mañana es lanzada al fuego, ¿no hará mucho más por ustedes que son personas que creen tan poco?
If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
31 Así que no se preocupen diciendo ‘¿Qué comeremos?’ o ‘¿Qué beberemos?’ o ‘¿Qué vestiremos?’
Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’
32 Todas estas son las cosas que por las que los paganos se afanan, pero el Padre celestial ya sabe todo lo que ustedes necesitan.
For the Gentiles strive after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.
33 Busquen su reino en primer lugar, y su senda de justicia, y todo se les dará.
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you.
34 Así que no se preocupen por el día de mañana, porque el mañana puede preocuparse por sí mismo. Cada día trae su propio mal.
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today has enough trouble of its own.
