San Mateo 5
1 Cuando Jesús vio que las multitudes le seguían, subió a una montaña. Allí se sentó junto con sus discípulos.
And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came to him:
2 Y comenzó a enseñarles, diciendo:
And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,
3 “Benditos son los que reconocen que son pobres espiritualmente, porque de ellos es el reino de los cielos.
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Benditos son los que lloran, porque ellos serán consolados.
Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
5 Benditos son los que son bondadosos, porque ellos poseerán el mundo entero.
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
6 Benditos son aquellos cuyo mayor deseo es hacer lo justo, porque su deseo será saciado.
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
7 Benditos aquellos que son misericordiosos, porque a ellos se les mostrará misericordia.
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
8 Benditos son; los corazón puro, porque ellos verán a Dios.
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
9 Benditos aquellos que trabajan por traer la paz, porque ellos serán llamados hijos de Dios.
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
10 Benditos aquellos que son perseguidos por lo que es justo, porque de ellos es el reino de los cielos.
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 Benditos ustedes cuando las personas los insulten y los persigan, y los acusen de todo tipo de males por mi causa.
Blessed are you, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
12 Estén felices, muy felices, porque recibirán una gran recompensa en el cielo—pues ellos persiguieron de esa misma manera a los profetas que vinieron antes de ustedes.
Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
13 “Ustedes son la sal de la tierra, pero si la sal pierde su sabor, ¿cómo podrán hacer que sea salada nuevamente? No sirve para nada, sino que se bota y es pisoteada.
You are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his flavor, with which shall it be salted? it is thereafter good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
14 Ustedes son la luz del mundo. Una ciudad que está construida sobre lo alto de una montaña no puede ocultarse.
You are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15 Nadie enciende una lámpara para luego ocultarla bajo una cesta. No, se le coloca sobre un candelero y así da luz a todos los que están en la casa.
Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it gives light to all that are in the house.
16 De la misma manera, ustedes deben dejar que su luz brille delante de todos a fin de que ellos puedan ver las cosas buenas que ustedes hacen y alaben a su Padre celestial.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
17 “No piensen que vine a abolir la ley o los escritos de los profetas. No vine a abolirlos, sino a cumplirlos.
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.
18 Les aseguro que hasta que el cielo y la tierra lleguen a su fin, ni una sola letra, ni un solo punto que está en la ley quedarán descontinuados antes de que todo se haya cumplido.
For truly I say to you, Till heaven and earth pass, one stroke or one pronunciation mark shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
19 De manera que cualquiera que desprecia el mandamiento menos importante, y enseña a las personas a hacer lo mismo, será considerado como el menos importante en el reino de los cielos; pero cualquiera que practica y enseña los mandamientos será considerado grande en el reino de los cielos.
Whoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
20 Les digo que a menos que la justicia de ustedes no sea mayor que la justicia de los maestros religiosos y de los fariseos, no podrán entrar nunca al reino de los cielos.
For I say to you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
21 “Ustedes han escuchado que la ley dijo al pueblo de hace mucho tiempo: ‘No matarás, y cualquiera que cometa asesinato será condenado como culpable’.
You have heard that it was said by them of old time, You shall not kill; and whoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:
22 Pero yo les digo: cualquiera que está enojado con su hermano será condenado como culpable. Cualquiera que llama a su hermano ‘idiota’ tiene que dar cuenta ante el concilio, y cualquiera que insulta a la gente, de seguro irá al fuego de Gehena”. (Geenna g1067)
But I say to you, That whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whoever shall say, You fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. (Geenna g1067)
23 “Si estás delante del altar presentando una ofrenda, y recuerdas que tu hermano tiene algo contra ti,
Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you;
24 deja tu ofrenda sobre el altar y ve y haz las paces con él primero, y luego regresa y presenta tu ofrenda.
Leave there your gift before the altar, and go your way; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
25 Cuando vayas camino a la corte con tu adversario, asegúrate de arreglar las cosas rápidamente. De lo contrario, tu acusador podría entregarte ante el juez, y el juez te entregará a la corte oficial, y serás llevado a la cárcel.
Agree with your adversary quickly, whiles you are in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and you be cast into prison.
26 En verdad te digo: no saldrás de allí hasta que hayas pagado hasta el último centavo.
Truly I say to you, You shall by no means come out there, till you have paid the uttermost farthing.
27 “Ustedes han escuchado que la ley dijo: ‘No cometerás adulterio’.
You have heard that it was said by them of old time, You shall not commit adultery:
28 Pero yo les digo que todo el que mira con lujuria a una mujer ya ha cometido adulterio en su corazón.
But I say to you, That whoever looks on a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.
29 Si tu ojo derecho te lleva a pecar, entonces sácalo y bótalo, porque es mejor perder una parte de tu cuerpo y no que todo tu cuerpo sea lanzado en el fuego de Gehena. (Geenna g1067)
And if your right eye offend you, pluck it out, and cast it from you: for it is profitable for you that one of your members should perish, and not that your whole body should be cast into hell. (Geenna g1067)
30 Si tu mano derecha te lleva a pecar, entonces córtala y bótala, porque es mejor que pierdas uno de tus miembros y no que todo tu cuerpo vaya al fuego de Gehena. (Geenna g1067)
And if your right hand offend you, cut it off, and cast it from you: for it is profitable for you that one of your members should perish, and not that your whole body should be cast into hell. (Geenna g1067)
31 “La ley también dijo: ‘Si un hombre se divorcia de su esposa, debe darle un certificado de divorcio’.
It has been said, Whoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorce:
32 Pero yo les digo que cualquier hombre que se divorcia de su esposa, a menos que sea por inmoralidad sexual, la hace cometer adulterio, y cualquiera que se case con una mujer divorciada, comete adulterio.
But I say to you, That whoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causes her to commit adultery: and whoever shall marry her that is divorced commits adultery.
33 “Y una vez más, ustedes han escuchado que la ley dijo al pueblo de hace mucho tiempo: ‘No jurarás en falso. En lugar de ello, asegúrese de cumplir sus juramentos al Señor’.
Again, you have heard that it has been said by them of old time, You shall not forswear yourself, but shall perform to the Lord your oaths:
34 Pero yo les digo: no juren nada. No juren por el cielo, porque ese es el trono de Dios.
But I say to you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God’s throne:
35 No juren por la tierra, porque es allí donde descansan sus pies. No juren por Jerusalén, por que es la ciudad del gran Rey.
Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.
36 Ni siquiera juren por su cabeza, porque ustedes no tienen el poder de hacer que uno solo de sus cabellos sea blanco o negro.
Neither shall you swear by your head, because you can not make one hair white or black.
37 Solamente digan sí o no; cualquier cosa aparte de esto viene del Maligno.
But let your communication be, Yes, yes; No, no: for whatever is more than these comes of evil.
38 “Ustedes han escuchado que la ley dijo: ‘Ojo por ojo, diente por diente’.
You have heard that it has been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
39 Pero yo les digo, no pongan resistencia a alguien que es malvado. Si alguien les da una bofetada, pongan la otra mejilla también.
But I say to you, That you resist not evil: but whoever shall smite you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also.
40 Si alguien quiere demandarte en una corte y toma tu camisa, dale tu abrigo también.
And if any man will sue you at the law, and take away your coat, let him have your cloak also.
41 Si alguien te pide que le acompañes una milla, acompáñale dos millas.
And whoever shall compel you to go a mile, go with him two.
42 Da a quienes te pidan, y no rechaces a quienes vengan a pedirte algo prestado.
Give to him that asks you, and from him that would borrow of you turn not you away.
43 “Ustedes han escuchado que la ley dijo: ‘Ama a tu prójimo y odia a tu enemigo’.
You have heard that it has been said, You shall love your neighbor, and hate your enemy.
44 Pero yo les digo: amen a sus enemigos y oren por los que los persiguen,
But I say to you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which spitefully use you, and persecute you;
45 a fin de que ustedes lleguen a ser hijos del Padre celestial. Porque su sol sale sobre buenos y malos; y él hace que la lluvia caiga sobre aquellos que hacen el bien y también sobre los que hacen el mal.
That you may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he makes his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
46 Porque si ustedes solamente aman a quienes los aman, ¿qué recompensa tienen por eso? ¿No hacen eso incluso los recaudadores de impuestos?
For if you love them which love you, what reward have you? do not even the publicans the same?
47 Si ustedes solo hablan de manera amable con su familia, ¿qué estarán haciendo que no hagan todos los demás? ¡Incluso los paganos hacen eso!
And if you salute your brothers only, what do you more than others? do not even the publicans so?
48 Crezcan y sean completamente fieles, así como su Padre que está en el cielo es fiel”.
Be you therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
