San Mateo 21
1 Entonces Jesús y sus discípulos fueron a Jerusalén. Cuando se acercaban, llegaron a la aldea de Betfagé sobre el Monte de los Olivos. Entonces Jesús envió a dos discípulos para que se adelantaran,
When they drew near to Jerusalem and came to Bethsphage, at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples ahead,
2 y les dijo: “Vayan a la aldea. Apenas lleguen, encontrarán allí un asno amarrado junto a un pollino Desamárrenlos y tráiganmelos.
telling them, “Go into the village ahead of you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied there and a colt with it. Untie them and bring them to me.
3 Si alguien les pregunta qué hacen, solo díganle: ‘El Señor los necesita’, y ellos los enviarán de inmediato”.
If anyone says anything to you, say, ‘The Lord has need of them.’ And immediately he will send them.”
4 Esto cumplía lo que el profeta dijo:
Now all this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken through the prophet:
5 “Di a la hija de Sión: ‘Mira, tu rey viene hacia ti. Es humilde, y monta un asno y un pollino la cría de un asno’”.
“Say to the daughter of Zion, ‘Behold, yoʋr king is coming to yoʋ, humble and mounted on a donkey, and a colt, the foal of a beast of burden.’”
6 Los discípulos fueron e hicieron lo que Jesús les había dicho.
So the disciples went and did just as Jesus had directed them.
7 Trajeron el asno y el pollino. Colocaron sus mantos sobre ellos y Jesús se sentó encima.
They brought the donkey and the colt and laid on them their garments, and Jesus sat on them.
8 Muchas personas que estaban entre la multitud extendían sus mantos en el camino, mientras que otros cortaban ramas de los árboles y las colocaban en el camino.
A very large crowd spread their garments on the road, and others cut down branches from the trees and also spread them on the road.
9 Las multitudes que iban delante de él y las que lo seguían gritaban: “¡Hosanna al hijo de David! ¡Bendito es el que viene en el nombre del Señor! ¡Hosanna en las alturas!”
The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed were crying out, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!”
10 Cuando Jesús llegó a Jerusalén, toda la ciudad estaba alborotada. “¿Quién es este?” preguntaban.
As he came into Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred up, saying, “Who is this?”
11 “Este es Jesús, el profeta de Nazaret, en Galilea”, respondieron las multitudes.
So the crowds were saying, “This is the prophet Jesus, who is from Nazareth of Galilee.”
12 Jesús entró al Templo, y sacó de allí a todas las personas que estaban comprando y vendiendo. Volteó las mesas de los cambistas y las sillas de los vendedores de palomas.
Then Jesus entered the courts of God's temple and drove out all who were selling and buying there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who were selling doves.
13 Entonces les dijo: “La Escritura dice: ‘Mi casa será llamada casa de oración’, pero ustedes la han convertido en una guarida de ladrones”.
And he said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a den of robbers.”
14 Los ciegos y los paralíticos venían a Jesús al Templo, y él los sanaba.
Then the lame and the blind came to him in the temple courts, and he healed them.
15 Pero cuando el jefe de los sacerdotes y los maestros religiosos vieron los milagros asombrosos que él hacía, y a los niños que gritaban en el Templo, “Hosanna al hijo de David”, se sintieron ofendidos. “¿Escuchas lo que dicen estos niños?” le preguntaron.
But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did and the children crying out in the temple courts, “Hosanna to the Son of David,” they were indignant
16 “Sí”, respondió Jesús. “¿Acaso no han leído que la Escritura dice ‘Preparaste a los niños y a los bebés para ofrecerte alabanza perfecta’”?
and said to him, “Do yoʋ hear what these children are saying?” Jesus said to them, “Yes, have you never read, ‘Out of the mouths of babies and nursing infants yoʋ have prepared praise’?”
17 Y dejándolos allí, se fue entonces a las afueras de la ciudad para quedarse en Betania.
And leaving them, he went out of the city to Bethany and spent the night there.
18 A la mañana siguiente, mientras caminaba de regreso a la ciudad, Jesús sintió hambre.
Early in the morning, as Jesus was returning to the city, he was hungry.
19 Entonces vio una higuera junto al camino, y se dirigió hacia ella pero no encontró ningún fruto, sino solamente hojas. Entonces le dijo a la higuera: “¡Ojalá que nunca más puedas producir fruto!” E inmediatamente la higuera se marchitó. (aiōn g165)
Seeing a lone fig tree by the road, he came to it and found nothing on it but leaves. Then he said to it, “May there never be any fruit from yoʋ again!” And at once the fig tree withered. (aiōn g165)
20 Los discípulos se asombraron al ver esto. “¿Cómo pudo marchitarse la higuera así de repente?” preguntaban.
When the disciples saw it, they were amazed, saying, “How did the fig tree wither all at once?”
21 “Les digo la verdad”, respondió Jesús, “Si ustedes realmente creen en Dios, y no dudan de él, no solo podrían hacer lo que acaba de suceder con la higuera, sino mucho más. Si ustedes dijeran a esta montaña, ‘levántate y lánzate al mar’, ¡así sucedería!
Jesus answered them, “Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only will you do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen.
22 Ustedes recibirán todo lo que pidan en oración, siempre que crean en Dios”.
And if you have faith, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”
23 Entonces Jesús entró al Templo. Los jefes de los sacerdotes y los ancianos del pueblo vinieron a él mientras enseñaba y le preguntaron, “¿Con qué autoridad haces estas cosas? ¿Quién te dio esta autoridad?”
When he entered the temple courts, the chief priests and the elders of the people came up to him as he was teaching and said, “By what authority are yoʋ doing these things? And who gave yoʋ this authority?”
24 “Yo también les haré una pregunta”, respondió Jesús. “Si me responden, yo les diré con qué autoridad hago estas cosas.
Jesus answered them, “I will also ask you one question. If you tell me the answer, I will also tell you by what authority I am doing these things.
25 ¿Con qué autoridad bautizaba Juan? ¿Acaso su autoridad venía del cielo, o de los hombres?” Entonces ellos discutían unos con otros: “Si decimos que venía del cielo, entonces nos preguntará por qué no creímos en él.
Where did John's authority to baptize come from? From heaven or from men?” So they discussed it among themselves, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will say to us, ‘Why then did you not believe him?’
26 Pero si decimos que venía de los hombres, entonces la multitud se podrá en contra de nosotros, porque todos ellos consideran a Juan como un profeta”.
But we are afraid of what the crowd might do if we say, ‘From men,’ for everyone regards John as a prophet.”
27 Entonces le respondieron a Jesús: “No sabemos”. “Entonces yo no les diré con qué autoridad hago estas cosas”, respondió Jesús.
So they answered Jesus, “We do not know.” Then he said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.
28 “Pero ¿qué piensan de esta ilustración? Había una vez un hombre que tenía dos hijos. Entonces fue donde el primer hijo y le dijo: ‘Hijo, ve y trabaja en la viña hoy’,
“But what do you think? A man had two sons. He went to his first son and said, ‘Son, go work today in my vineyard.’
29 Y el hijo le respondió, ‘No iré’, pero después se arrepintió de lo que dijo y fue.
His son answered, ‘I will not,’ but afterward he changed his mind and went.
30 Luego el hombre fue donde el segundo hijo y le dijo lo mismo. Y él le dijo: ‘Iré’, pero no lo hizo.
Then the man went to his second son and said the same thing. His second son answered, ‘I will go, sir,’ but he did not go.
31 ¿Cuál de los dos hijos hizo lo que su padre quería?” “El primero”, respondieron ellos. “Les digo la verdad: los recaudadores de impuestos y las prostitutas están entrando al reino de los cielos antes que ustedes”, les dijo Jesús.
Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said to him, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Truly I say to you, tax collectors and prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you.
32 “Juan vino para mostrarles a ustedes la manera correcta de vivir con Dios, y ustedes no creyeron en él, pero los recaudadores de impuestos y las prostitutas creyeron en él. Después, cuando vieron lo que sucedió, ustedes tampoco se arrepintieron ni creyeron en él.
For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but tax collectors and prostitutes believed him. Yet even after you saw it, you did not change your minds and believe him.
33 “Esta es otra ilustración: había una vez un hombre, un terrateniente, que plantó una viña. Puso una cerca alrededor de ella, hizo un lagar y construyó una torre de vigilancia. La alquiló a unos granjeros, y luego se fue a otro país.
“Listen to another parable: There was a master of a house who planted a vineyard, put a fence around it, dug a winepress in it, built a tower, leased it to farmers, and left the country.
34 Cuando llegó el tiempo de la cosecha, el hombre envió a sus siervos donde los granjeros para recoger el fruto que le pertenecía.
When the season for fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the farmers to receive his fruit.
35 Pero los granjeros atacaron a sus siervos. Golpearon a uno, mataron a otro y a otro también lo apedrearon.
But the farmers seized his servants; they beat one, killed another, and stoned yet another.
36 Entonces el terrateniente envió más siervos, pero los granjeros hicieron lo mismo con ellos.
Again he sent other servants, more than the first group. But the farmers treated them in the same way.
37 Entonces el terrateniente envió a su hijo. ‘A mi hijo lo respetarán’, pensó para sí.
Last of all, he sent them his son, saying, ‘They will have respect for my son.’
38 Pero los granjeros, cuando vieron al hijo, se dijeron unos a otros, ‘¡Aquí viene el heredero! ¡Vamos! ¡Matémoslo para quedarnos con su herencia!’
But when the farmers saw the son, they said among themselves, ‘This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and take possession of his inheritance.’
39 Lo agarraron, lo sacaron de la viña y lo mataron.
So they took him, threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him.
40 Entonces, cuando el dueño de la viña regrese, ¿qué hará con esos granjeros?”
Now when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those farmers?”
41 Entonces los jefes de los sacerdotes le dijeron a Jesús: “Mandará a matar a esos hombres malvados de la manera más atroz, y alquilará la viña a otros granjeros que de seguro sí le darán su fruto en tiempo de la cosecha”.
They said to him, “He will bring those wretches to a wretched end and lease the vineyard to other farmers who will give him the fruits in their seasons.”
42 “¿Acaso no han leído las Escrituras?” les preguntó Jesús. “‘La piedra que rechazaron los constructores se ha convertido en la piedra angular. El Señor ha hecho esto, y es maravilloso ante nuestros ojos’.
Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the Scriptures, ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; this was the Lord's doing, and it is amazing in our eyes’?
43 Por eso les digo que a ustedes se les quitará el reino de Dios. Será entregado a un pueblo que producirá el fruto apropiado.
Therefore I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people who will produce its fruit.
44 Cualquiera que tropiece con esta piedra, será destruido, pero esta aplastará por completo a quien le caiga encima”.
He who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces, but anyone on whom it falls will be crushed.”
45 Cuando los jefes de los sacerdotes y los fariseos escucharon sus ilustraciones, se dieron cuenta de que Jesús estaba hablando de ellos.
When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard Jesus' parables, they knew he was speaking about them.
46 Querían arrestarlo, pero tenían miedo de lo que el pueblo pudiera hacer porque la gente creía que él era un profeta.
Although they were looking for a way to arrest him, they were afraid of the crowds, because the people regarded him as a prophet.
