San Lucas 12
1 Mientras tanto, la multitud había crecido hasta llegar a ser miles, y se empujaban unos a otros. Jesús habló primero con sus discípulos. “Cuídense de la levadura de los fariseos, de la hipocresía.
In the meane time, there gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, so that they trode one another: and he began to say vnto his disciples first, Take heede to your selues of the leauen of the Pharises, which is hypocrisie.
2 Porque no hay nada oculto que no se revele, nada secreto que no llegue a saberse.
For there is nothing couered, that shall not bee reueiled: neither hidde, that shall not be knowen.
3 Todo lo que ustedes hayan dicho en la oscuridad, se oirá a plena luz, y todo lo que ustedes susurren en privado será anunciado desde las azoteas.
Wherefore whatsoeuer yee haue spoken in darkenesse, it shall be heard in the light: and that which ye haue spoken in the eare, in secret places, shall be preached on the houses.
4 Les aseguro, mis amigos, no tengan miedo de los que matan el cuerpo, porque cuando lo hayan hecho, no hay nada más que puedan hacer.
And I say vnto you, my friendes, be not afraide of them that kill the bodie, and after that are not able to doe any more.
5 Déjenme aclararles a qué deben tenerle miedo: Teman a quien después de haber matado el cuerpo, tiene el poder de lanzarlo en el Gehena. De ese deben tener miedo. (Geenna g1067)
But I wil forewarne you, who ye shall feare: feare him which after hee hath killed, hath power to cast into hell: yea, I say vnto you, him feare. (Geenna g1067)
6 ¿Acaso no se venden cinco gorriones por dos centavos? Pero Dios no se olvida de ninguno de ellos.
Are not fiue sparowes bought for two farthings, and yet not one of them is forgotten before God?
7 Incluso los cabellos de sus cabezas han sido contados. ¡No tengan miedo, pues ustedes valen más que dos gorriones!
Yea, and all the heares of your head are nombred: feare not therefore: yee are more of value then many sparowes.
8 “Les aseguro que aquellos que declaran que me pertenecen, el Hijo del hombre también dirá que le pertenecen, delante de los ángeles de Dios.
Also I say vnto you, Whosoeuer shall confesse mee before men, him shall the Sonne of man confesse also before the Angels of God.
9 Pero aquellos que me niegan, también serán negados ante los ángeles de Dios.
But hee that shall denie mee before men, shall be denied before the Angels of God.
10 Todo el que habla en contra del Hijo del hombre, será perdonado, pero el que blasfeme contra el Espíritu Santo, no será perdonado.
And whosoeuer shall speake a woorde against the Sonne of man, it shall be forgiuen him: but vnto him, that shall blaspheme ye holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiuen.
11 “Cuando sean llevados para ser juzgados en las sinagogas, ante los gobernantes, y las autoridades, no tengan miedo sobre cómo van a defenderse, o lo que dirán.
And when they shall bring you vnto the Synagogues, and vnto the rulers and Princes, take no thought howe, or what thing ye shall answere, or what yee shall speake.
12 El Espíritu Santo les enseñará en ese momento lo que es importante que digan”.
For the holy Ghost shall teache you in the same houre, what yee ought to say.
13 Y uno que estaba en la multitud le preguntó a Jesús: “Maestro, por favor, dile a mi hermano que comparta su herencia conmigo”.
And one of the companie said vnto him, Master, bidde my brother deuide the inheritance with me.
14 “Amigo mío”, respondió Jesús, “¿Quién me designó como juez para decidir si esa herencia debe dividirse?” Entonces le dijo a la gente:
And he said vnto him, Man, who made me a iudge, or a deuider ouer you?
15 “Estén alerta, y cuídense de todo pensamiento y acción de avaricia, pues la vida de una persona no se mide por la cantidad de posesiones que tiene”.
Wherefore he said vnto them, Take heede, and beware of couetousnesse: for though a man haue abundance, yet his life standeth not in his riches.
16 Entonces les contó un relato como ilustración: “Había un hombre rico que poseía una tierra que era muy productiva.
And he put foorth a parable vnto them, saying, The grounde of a certaine riche man brought foorth fruites plenteously.
17 Después de pensar bien las cosas, este hombre pensó para sí: ‘¿Qué haré? No tengo dónde guardar mis cosechas’.
Therefore he thought with himselfe, saying, What shall I doe, because I haue no roume, where I may lay vp my fruites?
18 ‘Ya sé lo que haré’, concluyó. ‘Derribaré mis graneros y construiré unos más grandes, y luego podré guardar todas las cosechas y todas mis posesiones.
And he said, This wil I do, I wil pul downe my barnes, and builde greater, and therein will I gather all my fruites, and my goods.
19 Entonces podré decirme a mí mismo: Tienes suficiente para vivir por muchos años, así que relájate, come, bebe y diviértete’.
And I wil say to my soule, Soule, thou hast much goods laide vp for many yeeres: liue at ease, eate, drinke and take thy pastime.
20 Pero Dios le dijo: ‘¡Hombre necio! Esta misma noche vienen a quitarte la vida, ¿quién se quedará entonces con todo lo que has guardado?’
But God said vnto him, O foole, this night wil they fetch away thy soule from thee: then whose shall those things be which thou hast prouided?
21 Esto es lo que ocurre con las personas que acumulan riqueza para sí mismas, pero no son ricos en relación con Dios”.
So is he that gathereth riches to himselfe, and is not riche in God.
22 Entonces Jesús le dijo a sus discípulos: “Por eso les digo que no se preocupen por las cosas de la vida, por lo que van a comer, o por la ropa que deben usar.
And he spake vnto his disciples, Therefore I say vnto you, Take no thought for your life, what yee shall eate: neither for your body, what yee shall put on.
23 La vida es más que el comer, y el cuerpo es más que el vestir.
The life is more then meate: and the body more then the raiment.
24 Miren las aves. Ellas no cosen ni recogen cosechas, no tienen graneros ni almacenes, pero Dios las alimenta. ¡Y ustedes son mucho más valiosos que las aves!
Consider the rauens: for they neither sowe nor reape: which neither haue storehouse nor barne, and yet God feedeth them: how much more are yee better then foules?
25 ¿Acaso pueden ustedes añadir una hora a su vida preocupándose por ello?
And which of you with taking thought, can adde to his stature one cubite?
26 Si no pueden hacer nada por cosas tan pequeñas, ¿por qué preocuparse por lo demás?
If yee then bee not able to doe the least thing, why take yee thought for the remnant?
27 Piensen en los lirios y cómo crecen. Ellos no trabajan ni hilan para hacer ropa, pero yo les aseguro que ni siquiera Salomón en toda su gloria usó vestidos tan hermosos como uno de ellos.
Consider the lilies howe they growe: they labour not, neither spin they: yet I say vnto you, that Salomon himselfe in all his royaltie was not clothed like one of these.
28 “Así que si Dios viste los campos con flores tan hermosas, que hoy están aquí y mañana son quemadas para calentar un horno, ¡cuánto más Dios los vestirá a ustedes, hombres de poca fe!
If then God so clothe the grasse which is to day in the field, and to morowe is cast into the ouen, howe much more will he clothe you, O yee of litle faith?
29 No se preocupen por lo que van a comer o beber, no se preocupen por ello.
Therefore aske not what yee shall eate, or what ye shall drinke, neither hag you in suspense.
30 Todas estas son las cosas por las que se preocupa la gente en el mundo, pero su Padre sabe que ustedes las necesitan.
For all such things the people of the world seeke for: and your Father knoweth that ye haue neede of these things.
31 Busquen el reino de Dios, y se les darán estas cosas también.
But rather seeke ye after the kingdome of God, and all these things shalbe cast vpon you.
32 No tengan miedo, pequeño rebaño, porque su Padre se alegra en darles el reino.
Feare not, litle flocke: for it is your Fathers pleasure, to giue you the kingdome.
33 Vendan lo que tienen, y denle el dinero a los pobres. Tomen tesoros que no se agotan: tesoros en el cielo que nunca se acabarán, donde ningún ladrón puede robarlo, ni el moho puede destruirlo.
Sell that ye haue, and giue almes: make you bagges, which waxe not old, a treasure that can neuer faile in heauen, where no theefe commeth, neither mothe corrupteth.
34 Porque sus corazones estarán donde esté su tesoro.
For where your treasure is, there will your hearts be also.
35 “Vístanse y estén listos, y mantengan sus lámparas encendidas,
Let your loynes be gird about and your lights burning,
36 como siervos que esperan a su maestro cuando regrese de la fiesta de bodas, preparados para abrir rápidamente cuando él llegue y toque la puerta.
And ye your selues like vnto men that waite for their master, when he will returne from the wedding, that when he commeth and knocketh, they may open vnto him immediatly.
37 Cuán bueno será para los siervos a quienes el maestro encuentre despiertos cuando él regrese. ¡Les aseguro que el maestro se vestirá, los mandará a sentarse para comer, y él mismo les servirá a ellos!
Blessed are those seruants, whom the Lord when he commeth shall finde waking: verely I say vnto you, he will girde himselfe about, and make them to sit downe at table, and will come forth, and serue them.
38 “Incluso si llega a la media noche, o antes del amanecer, ¡cuán bueno será para ellos si los encuentra despiertos y listos!
And if he come in the seconde watch, or come in the third watch, and shall finde them so, blessed are those seruants.
39 Pero recuerden esto: si el dueño de una casa supiera cuándo viene un ladrón, permanecería alerta y no dejaría que entre en su casa.
Nowe vnderstand this, that if the good man of the house had knowen at what houre the theefe would haue come, he would haue watched, and would not haue suffered his house to be digged through.
40 Ustedes también deben estar listos, porque el Hijo del hombre viene cuando ustedes no lo esperan”.
Be ye also prepared therefore: for the Sonne of man will come at an houre when ye thinke not.
41 “Este relato que nos cuentas, ¿es solamente para nosotros, o es para todos?” preguntó Pedro.
Then Peter saide vnto him, Master, tellest thou this parable vnto vs, or euen to all?
42 El Señor respondió: “¿Quién es el mayordomo fiel y sabio, el miembro de la familia a quien el dueño encarga para que reparta el alimento a su debido tiempo?
And the Lord saide, Who is a faithfull steward and wise, whom the master shall make ruler ouer his householde, to giue them their portion of meate in season?
43 Será bueno para ese siervo cuando su amo regrese y lo encuentre haciendo su deber.
Blessed is that seruant, whom his master when he commeth, shall finde so doing.
44 Les aseguro, que el amo de la casa pondrá a ese siervo a cargo de todo.
Of a trueth I say vnto you, that he wil make him ruler ouer all that he hath.
45 Pero ¿qué sucedería si el siervo pensara: ‘Mi amo se está demorando en venir,’ y entonces comenzara a golpear a los otros siervos, hombres y mujeres, festejando y emborrachándose?
But if that seruant say in his heart, My master doeth deferre his comming, and ginne to smite the seruants, and maydens, and to eate, and drinke, and to be drunken,
46 El amo de ese siervo regresará sorpresivamente un día, en el momento que no lo esperaba el siervo, y lo castigará severamente, tratándolo como un completo siervo infiel.
The master of that seruant will come in a day when he thinketh not, and at an houre when he is not ware of, and will cut him off, and giue him his portion with the vnbeleeuers.
47 “Ese siervo, que sabía lo que su amo quería, pero no se preparó ni siguió sus instrucciones, será golpeado con severidad;
And that seruant that knewe his masters will, and prepared not himselfe, neither did according to his will, shalbe beaten with many stripes.
48 pero el siervo que no sabía e hizo cosas que merecían castigo, solo recibirá un castigo suave. Porque a aquellos a quienes se les entrega mucho, se les exigirá mucho, y a aquellos a quienes se les confió más, se les exigirá más.
But he that knewe it not, and yet did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with fewe stripes: for vnto whomsoeuer much is giuen, of him shalbe much required, and to whom men much commit, the more of him will they aske.
49 ¡Yo he venido a prenderle fuego a la tierra, y en realidad desearía que ya estuviera ardiendo!
I am come to put fire on the earth, and what is my desire, if it be already kindled?
50 ¡Pero tengo un bautismo por el cual pasar, y estoy en agonía, deseando que ya termine!
Notwithstanding I must be baptized with a baptisme, and how am I grieued, till it be ended?
51 ¿Ustedes creen que vine a traer paz a la tierra? No, les aseguro que traigo división.
Thinke ye that I am come to giue peace on earth? I tell you, nay, but rather debate.
52 Desde ahora, si hay cinco personas en una familia, estarán divididos unos contra otros: tres contra dos, y dos contra tres.
For from hencefoorth there shall be fiue in one house deuided, three against two, and two against three.
53 Estarán divididos unos contra otros: el padre contra el hijo, el hijo contra el padre, la madre contra la hija, la hija contra la madre, la suegra contra su nuera, y la nuera contra su suegra”.
The father shalbe deuided against ye sonne, and the sonne against the father: the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother: the mother in lawe against her daughter in lawe, and the daughter in lawe against her mother in lawe.
54 Entonces Jesús les habló a las multitudes: “Cuando ustedes ven una nube que se levanta en el oeste, de inmediato dicen: ‘va a llover,’ y así sucede.
Then said he to the people, When ye see a cloude rise out of the West, straightway ye say, A shower commeth: and so it is.
55 Cuando sopla un viento del sur, ustedes dicen: ‘va a hacer calor,’ y así ocurre.
And when ye see the South winde blowe, ye say, that it wilbe hoate: and it commeth to passe.
56 Hipócritas, ¿cómo es posible que sepan interpretar correctamente el estado del clima, pero no sepan interpretar el tiempo presente?
Hypocrites, ye can discerne the face of the earth, and of the skie: but why discerne ye not this time?
57 ¿Por qué no piensan por ustedes mismo y juzgan lo que es recto?
Yea, and why iudge ye not of your selues what is right?
58 Cuando vayan a la corte con la persona que los acusa, deben tratar de llegar a un acuerdo mientras van por el camino. De lo contrario, podrían ser arrastrados ante el juez, y el juez los mandará ante el oficial, y el oficial los llevará a la prisión.
While thou goest with thine aduersarie to the ruler, as thou art in the way, giue diligence in the way, that thou mayest be deliuered from him, least he drawe thee to the iudge, and the iudge deliuer thee to the iayler, and the iayler cast thee into prison.
59 Les aseguro que no saldrán de ahí hasta que hayan pagado el último centavo”.
I tell thee, thou shalt not depart thence, till thou hast payed the vtmost mite.
