Juan 17

1 Cuando Jesús terminó de decir esto, levantó su Mirada al cielo y dijo: “Padre, ha llegado el momento. Glorifica a tu Hijo para que el Hijo pueda glorificarte.

After saying this, Jesus raised his eyes heaven-wards, and said: “Father, the hour has come; honour thy Son, that thy Son may honour thee;

2 Porque tú le has dado autoridad sobre todas las personas para que él pueda darle vida eterna a todos los que tú le has entregado. (aiōnios g166)

even as thou gavest him power over all mankind, that he should give Immortal Life to all those whom thou has given him. (aiōnios g166)

3 La vida eterna es esta: conocerte, a ti que eres el único Dios verdadero, y a Jesucristo a quien enviaste. (aiōnios g166)

And the Immortal Life is this — to know thee the one true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou has sent as thy Messenger. (aiōnios g166)

4 Yo te he dado gloria aquí en la tierra al terminar la obra que me mandaste a hacer.

I have honoured thee on earth by completing the work which thou has given me to do;

5 Ahora, Padre, glorifícame ante ti con la gloria que tuve contigo antes de la creación del mundo.

and now do thou honour me, Father, at thy own side, with the honour which I had at thy side before the world began.

6 “Yo he revelado tu carácter a aquellos que me diste del mundo. Ellos te pertenecían; me los diste a mí, y he hecho lo que tú dijiste.

I have revealed thee to those whom thou gavest me from the world; they were thy own, and thou gavest them to me; and they have laid thy Message to heart.

7 Ahora ellos saben que todo lo que me has dado viene de ti.

They recognise now that everything that thou gavest me was from thee;

8 Yo les he dado el mensaje que tú me diste a mí. Ellos lo aceptaron, estando completamente convencidos de que vine de ti, y ellos creyeron que tú me enviaste.

for I have given them the teaching which thou gavest me, and they received it, and clearly understood that I came from thee, and they believed that thou has sent me as thy Messenger.

9 Estoy orando por ello—no por el mundo, sino por los que me diste, porque ellos te pertenecen.

I intercede for them; I am not interceding for the world, but for those whom thou has given me, for they are thy own —

10 Todos los que me pertenecen son tuyos, y los que te pertenecen a ti son míos, y yo he sido glorificado por medio de ellos.

All that is mine is thine, and all that is thine is mine — and I am honoured in them.

11 “Dejo el mundo, pero ellos seguirán en el mundo mientras yo regreso a ti. Padre Santo, protégelos en tu nombre, el nombre que me diste a mí, para que ellos sean uno, así como nosotros somos uno.

Now I am to be in this world no longer, but they are still to be in the world, and I am to come to thee. Holy Father, keep them by that revelation of thy Name which thou has given me, that they may be one, as we are.

12 Mientras estuve con ellos, los protegí en tu nombre, el nombre que me diste. Cuidé de ellos para que ninguno se perdiera, excepto el ‘hijo de perdición,’ para que se cumpliera la Escritura.

Whilst I was with them, I kept them by that revelation, and I have guarded them; and not one of them has been lost, except that lost soul — in fulfilment of Scripture.

13 “Ahora vuelvo a ti y digo estas cosas mientras estoy aún en el mundo para que ellos puedan compartir completamente mi alegría.

But now I am to come to thee; and I am speaking thus, while still in the world, that they may have my own joy, in all its fullness, in their hearts.

14 Les di tu mensaje, y el mundo los odió porque ellos no son del mundo, así como yo no soy del mundo.

I have given them thy Message; and the world hated them, because they do not belong to the world, even as I do not belong to the world.

15 No te estoy pidiendo que los quites del mundo, sino que los protejas del maligno.

I do not ask thee to take them out of the world, but to keep them from Evil.

16 Ellos no son del mundo, así como yo no soy del mundo.

They do not belong to the world, even as I do not belong to the world.

17 Santifícalos por la verdad; tu palabra es verdad.

Consecrate them by the Truth; thy Message is Truth.

18 Así como tú me enviaste al mundo, yo los he enviado al mundo.

Just as thou has sent me as thy Messenger to the world, so I send them as my Messengers to the world.

19 Yo me consagro a mí mismo por ellos para que ellos también sean verdaderamente santos.

And it is for their sakes that I am consecrating myself, so that they also may be truly consecrated.

20 “No solo estoy orando por ellos, también oro por los que crean en mí por el mensaje de ellos.

But it is not only for them that I am interceding, but also for those who believe in me through their Message,

21 Oro para que todos puedan ser uno, así como tú, Padre, vives en mí y yo vivo en ti, para que ellos también puedan vivir en nosotros a fin de que el mundo crea que tú me enviaste.

that they all may be one — that as thou, Father, art in union with us — and so the world may believe that thou hast sent me as thy Messenger.

22 Yo les he dado la gloria que tú me diste, para que puedan ser uno, así como nosotros somos uno.

I have given them the honour which thou has given me, that they may be one as we are one —

23 Yo vivo en ellos, y tú vives en mí. Que ellos puedan ser uno completamente, para que el mundo entero sepa que tú me enviaste, y que tú los amas, así como me amas a mí.

I in union with them and thou with me — that so they may be perfected in their union, and thus the world may know that thou hast sent me as thy Messenger, and that thou has loved them as thou hast loved me.

24 “Padre, quiero que los que me has dado estén conmigo donde yo esté, para que puedan ver la gloria que me diste—porque tú me amaste antes de que el mundo fuera creado.

Father, my desire for all those whom thou has given me is that they may be with me where I am, so that they may see the honour which thou has given me; for thou didst love me before the beginning of the world.

25 Padre bueno, el mundo no te conoce, pero yo te conozco, y estos que están aquí ahora conmigo saben que tú me enviaste.

O righteous Father, though the world did not know thee, I knew thee; and these men knew that thou has sent me as thy Messenger.

26 Yo les he mostrado tu carácter y seguiré dándolo a conocer, para que el amor que tienes por mí esté en ellos, y yo viviré en ellos”.

I have made thee known to them, and will do so still; that the love that thou has had for me may be in their hearts, and that I may be in them also.”
